Hi all,
Really informative thread, some great stuff here.
I've got an invite for a Regent Street Seminar on Wednesday. I was just wondering if anyone who'd attended such a seminar could suggest how long it might last?

My experience applying with Apple sucked. Steve Jobs walked in during the interview and put his bare feet on the table. Then he asked me if I was a virgin. It went downhill from there.

Did it include Dear Leader gobbling like a turkey or asking how many times you've taken acid? :D If not, then that's some consolation.

For whats involved, it takes too long. People can seriously over indulge in the roleplaying.

Seminar - regency street

I attended the seminar on Monday. Has anybody had a response? a few really good people there i must say. Just a bit concerned as they did say they would get back to us the next day even if unsuccessful......

Attended a seminar in Bristol today, was quite fun!
Definitley a bit of brain washing was included, like the video at the start but overall was quite fun, really varied mix of people there. Hope I made it through to the next 'round'!

I went to one when I applied at a new apple store in the UK

Its mainly focussed on team work activities. You have to be extravert to succeed. Seems they don't care about knowledge about the products so much.
People had different tactics, some tried to lick the seminar leader's butts and suck up to the Apple brand (especially some 40 year old guy who got made redundant, desperate for a job and probably turned on by the sexy Apple seminar leader), others were honest and made fair contributions, others tried to make too much of an impression and butted in at every opportunity.

You don't have much time to express yourself, so make sure you have an impact on the discussions, if you don't get noticed by the seminar leaders, you won't get through to the interviews.

Good luck mate!

I'm suprised they haven't contacted everyone though. I do remember them saying they are considering people for various stores, so
might prolong things.

I applied for covent garden opening but the email stated the seminar was for regent street..

Cheers... Yeah I applied for Covent, Regent and White City.

Apple Group Interview

Well, I can tell you my experience. About a month ago, I applied to my local Apple store. I am an out of work teacher and an avid Apple fan so I thought, why not. I get an email invitation to a group interview. It went well. I was emailed for a second interview. I arrived for the second interview - and two hours later, they finally were "available" to talk to me. Out on a bench in the mall. Whatever.....

That interview went well also. I even asked them what their thoughts were about me - was I a good prospect, and they said absolutely. They liked that I could speak intelligently about a product I knew a lot about and that I was professional. I don't have any tattoos or piercings like the other "Specialists" but I didn't think that would hurt my chances. The managers told me I would have a third interview and would receive a call from another higher-up manager. I thanked them and went on my merry way.

Now, keep in mind, everyone is rooting for me. I've got a third interview with Apple! WooHoo! And then I wait....and wait....and wait....

After one week, I called the store. One of the managers sounded surprised that I hadn't received the call to set up the third interview. She said she would find out and would "call me right back".

Two days later, I get an email from someone I'd never even met, saying, "while it was a pleasure to meet you, bla bla bla bla". You know how the story goes. Basically, I didn't get the job because Apple had some tough decisions and choices to make. I was shocked but now I am kind of relieved.

I still love my MacBook, my iPod and my TimeCapsule. But I can't help having a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth from this experience with Apple.

Q4T

You know what, I received an email from Apple last week informing me of the date that the store I applied for was about to open. They never actually officially contacted me to say I didn't get the job.

The guy at the first interview said the next round would be the following week. I got the email confirming I got through a few days after. It's now been well over a week and I've not heard anything, despite contacting them.
What's their problem with communication? I don't know if I
have a chance of getting a job or what, am I supposed to just drop everything and rely on one mass sent email?? It's redicilous, especially from a company like Apple.

Hey I was at the same interview. I got the confirming email and then like you a while past. After emailing the recruiting lady and then calling the store got an email last Friday saying they where swamped with the new product release and would be in contact soon. So glad your in same boat, no offense.

This is exact email

HI there -

I wanted to apologise to keep you waiting for your final interview. The Bristol store management teams have been exceptionally busy over the last 2 weeks due to the new product release, and are struggling to take time off our very busy sales floors.

We will look to conduct these interviews as quickly as possible - thanks for your patience.

Hi guys, I'm wondering if anyone knows how thorough the background check is? I don't have any criminal charges and all my references are legitimate but I'm a bit worried and anxious about my credit score. I'm in my mid 20's and I don't owe a lot of money compared to people with mortgages and serious things but I don't have the greatest credit score.

To give some details, I didn't go to a seminar, I was asked for an interview over e-mail a week after I submitted my resume (I also had a Resume on the Employee Recommendation Channel), the next day they had me digitally sign the paperwork for HireRight to do a background check. I had a second interview recently and from their wording my background check hasn't gone through yet. As far as how I did, I feel like I did really well in the first interview and in my second meeting, but I also have 4 years of Retail Experience so if I did anything but great that would be a whole other problem. But, I definitely did the best I could I think.

I will know by Friday whether I got a job but I can tell you these next 3 days I'm going to be pretty nerve racking, I'm just trying to get my foot in the door with a great company (and pay off my debt).

And congratulations to everyone who is getting in before the Holiday season. I can tell you that it's no easy feat getting in and especially in these times.

Hi I went to a recruitment seminar in the Sheffield Meadowhall Shopping Centre store UK (Sunday 8th November 2009 at 5:30pm). For all the people that went please reply to this post.

Basically there were 3 girls including me (yes I'm a girl by the way) and were about 24 men and boys (16-30 year olds), so my question is will I get hired including the 2 girls that were with me? Because I feel they might be turning sexist. :(
