Why?
Just because the overwhelming majority at the seminar were men doesn't mean Apple is only hiring men… does it?
At my local Apple store it is pretty much 50/50.
Wait and see. Good luck.

Thanks for the reassurance.

Interesting reading.
I have a seminar to attend and had no idea what was in store but reading all the threads has given me a taster of what to expect when I go to the seminar

Hi I went to a recruitment seminar in the Sheffield Meadowhall Shopping Centre store UK (Sunday 8th November 2009 at 5:30pm). For all the people that went please reply to this post.

Basically there were 3 girls including me (yes I'm a girl by the way) and were about 24 men and boys (16-30 year olds), so my question is will I get hired including the 2 girls that were with me? Because I feel they might be turning sexist. :(

The corporate world is already sexist, and Apple is no exception.

No no no no no. This is not Apple being sexist. Apple sells computers and phones. Not clothes and handbags. Considerably more male applicants apply to work in Apple Stores than do females. More guys are interested in technology than girls, it's just the way things are. Girls have just as much chance of getting in, given the number of girls I've seen in the Apple Stores I've been to.

Must be nice to have a "card" to play. The very fact she brought up sexism because of the ration of people who are TRYING to get a job shows it is already right there on her mind.

Hey guys,

I applied online this week and had a few questions I hope some of you can answer.

How long did it take to get a response? Was it by email or by phone?

Did you guys do anything else like go into the store and talk to a manager or the stores HR manager? Is the guy who looks at the online applications the actual store HR guy or is it a local apple recruiter?

Thanks!!

Hey mate! Firstly, i shall you on tuesday! :)

Secondly, im not entirely sure what to expect on tuesday. After reading through this thread ive kinda got a rough idea that we will probably sit and watch an apple video for half an hour or, introduce ourselfs to the group, answer questions, be put into a group and each group has to do a presentation on a certain apple topic.

I think the best piece of advice is to just be yourself, at the end of the day it doesnt matter how much you know about apple its just about you. so stand out! :)

sorry i cant be much more help!

yeah ill see you there, im ok telling a group of people who i am and where im from but im no good at thinking up a presentation and then giving it lol last time i done a presentation was about 7 year ago at college lol it would be such a big step forward getting a job at apple, it says casual, but are dark blue jeans classed as casual? so nerve racking thinking about it never had any sort of thing like this before i hope i dont make a tit of myself in front of 30+ people lol

My seminar is tomorrow 13.30-15.30.
Looking forward to it/nervous about it/butterflies in stomach whenever I think about it!
Read all the posts about it so assuming it'll be video, introductions round the group, presentation.
Hoping the nervousness will go away when I get there cos we'll all be in the same boat I guess!
Casual dress so it'll be Jeans and a shirt for me.
Good luck to everyone going for it!! :)
