Did anyone go to the Meet and Greet "about me" Event this week?

I really enjoyed it and I left feeling really really excited, but then as it dawned on me I might not get the Job I am now feeling quite depressed :(

Does anyone know how many specialist roles they will need for the new store, I worked out there was about 120 people left in the selection process.

Im trying to work out my chances :)

anyone with any ideas?

Thanks

Greetings all,

I have been invited to an Apple Recruitment Seminar, but there was no notification on dress code. I think I'll go to the store later and ask if they're not busy, but anyone have any idea what the deal is usually?

Regards,
Ubuntu.

Casual is key!!! Jeans, tshirt, jumper & trainers = perfect. You have to stand up and 'present' quite a lot, and its pretty long, so make sure you dress comfortably :)

I'm going to the Regent Street event!

What are you going to wear? I'm worried about that more than anything. Are smart jeans and a shirt OK?

Has anyone been invited to a hiring event for a Regent Street store?

Hey all I got invited to a NJ seminar after applying about two weeks ago. The seminar is scheduled for may 16th.

Does anyone know how long it might take to finally start working if all interviews go well? Debating whether or not I should sign up for some summer classes.

I am scheduled for a May 16th one too, but at King of Prussia. What should I expect in the US seminars?

What did you do in the seminar and interviews? Any tips?

Had my one today. I'm in the UK so it could be totally different but I'll share anyway.

First of all, make note of the casual dress code. A few people wore suits and looked very out of place.

We introduced ourselves, explained what we currently do, why we want to join apple and something interesting.

Key point for the "why do you want to join apple?" question if you get it or something similar - don't waffle on about technology. Don't say "I love macs and i want everyone to use them" as there is alot more to Apple than simply pushing mac sales. Don't bitch about windows PCs - quite a few people did that and it didn't go down too well.

I doubt they'll ask you to state one thing that is interesting about you, but don't forget to be prepared for this. They'll want to know what makes you stand out.

After, we did some group roleplay exercises which were actually quite enjoyable. They're not looking for actors, just be yourself, don't rush it, and just think of how you would act if this was an actual retail store and you were serving a customer. Just relax, don't try to be funny as other people in the seminar did.

Other than that, we watched a few videos, and that was pretty much it. I did enjoy it, the people were very friendly and the dress code helped calm me down.

Well, my advice would be quite different to those of Ubuntu!
Firstly, if they ask why you want to join Apple - if it's because you love Macs and want everybody to use them, say that!! It's exactly what I said lol... I gave an anecdote of how my Windows computer broke and I lost all my work, then moved to Mac, couldnt believe what I'd discovered and I want to encourage others to experience this too! Furthermore, the Apple Store primarily exists to advise customers & sell to customers, so I don't see the issue with dropping that in lol

They asked me the "interesting fact about you" Q in every interview I went to, so the chances are high. The funnier & more interesting your fact is, the more people'll remember you, which is the most imp thing when you're in a room with 20+ competitive people!

& as for the role play, do what you do best. They aren't looking for amazing acting skills, or that u can babble info (or maybe they are..); I think they want to see you being comfortable in front of people & specifically - your personality! This is your 1 shot to take centre stage at the seminar so make it lasting!!! Surely it's a good sign if you can make a group of complete strangers laugh though...

Obviously this is just my opinion though!

Hired :) just waiting to fill in a background check, then send it off, or sum such....

When did they let you know? did you attend a one to one with the store leader at Apple HQ?

I went last week, but I still havent heard anything?

Ok now I am worried :(

Yea. When you first get there you have to fill in some forms on how many hours you can work and what you know about apple and that kind of stuff. Then they turn the lights won in the store and all the employees go on each side of the store and start clapping and wooing while you walk in. Then they just say a quick intro nothing special. Then all the employees have to say how long they have worked at Apple there name and an interesting fact about them. Then its our turn. We had to say out name, where we work/study and and interesting fact. Then they put a slide show on with the usual stuff nothing big there. They then put us into groups and then we have to make a presentation in a apple product they gave our group iphone. You could get any thing from Ipod nano to imac. Try and throw a joke in it helps you to get noticed. Finally they have a Q and A some one asked what was your first apple product and whats you favorite at the moment. The staff liked that. Hope it helped!

I have an interview on the 18th too. It says we will have to do a presentation. What does this normally consist of? What did you do in yours? Its for a genius/creative position so guessing it wont be the normal role play?
