I posted my profile & got my seminar email about 2hrs later... But one of my friends waited like a year before any form of contact, so it really does vary

yes, I went to 3 different seminars in the UK and I think it varies.
I think I will give up, especially after inviting me a 4th time and being kind of rude to me, I feel like Apple isn't what I thought it was/would be.

I got a call to come in for an individual interview. I dont know what this means though.

The final interview? Or the group interview?

I had the seminar, then the group interview (which itself had a one on one interview) and have been invited back to the final interview.

Is the majority of this thread from people in the UK? anyone going to a seminar in north jersey USA?

man this is the first seminar I was invited to in my life (email came in today) and I just submitted my first resume a few days ago to be a specialist. It's gonna be held on may 23rd. It all happened so fast I'm really nervous yet excited. Does anyone know if things are done differently here in the US? The presentation worries and confuses me. Do specialists just get role play or is it a presentation? I'm no actor but, from what people said, I'm gonna be myself. Maybe throw in a joke once in a while if I can. But I'm so scared of choking up though that I might mess up and get embarrassed. I'm worrying too much I know... But I can't help it... argh!!!

I applied for inventory specialist in some north jersey stores but havent heard anything back yet. I am assuming MBA's don't hold too much weight with Apple, even thought I am applying for a business job and not a techie job...

Good luck with yours!

hey thanks =) I hope you get your call backs soon. I'm just hoping they don't do presentations in my seminar because don't specialists usually go one to one with a customer, or two? Because they definately don't sell products to a group of 20+ complete strangers!

Yeah I couldn't really say. I think the presentations are for a personality thing, to see how you are around new people and how you work in a group. I am pretty sure that the inventory one might not even be a seminar, because it is considered "back end" by apple. We will see. I applied Monday, so maybe next week or the week after I'll hear something. The range of time people here back seems to vary a lot.

Did you follow up with your application at all? I couldn't find a contact that I could follow up with.

actually yes I'm planning to go to the store I was invited to over the weekend to ask about any details, like what is "business casual" to them, since I always see mr. Jobs wearin jeans in his keynotes. I'm not sure whether to completely follow this thread as much of the posts are in the UK, but I'm still taking their tips into consideration.

I won't know anyone because it wasn't the particular store I applied to go to, but I'm guessing it will be good practice for breaking the ice :D

Cool. I am starting to think that they do it in stages based on which job type it is. Seems like people heard about the genuis, then about specialist, etc. Maybe my inventory specialist one is next!

Does that make sense at all?

Anyone got a job at Regent Street then? I believe all the final interviews were today.

Also, to those who did not get invited to group interview/final interview at Regent St, did you get an email notifying you?

yes, I went to 3 different seminars in the UK and I think it varies.
I think I will give up, especially after inviting me a 4th time and being kind of rude to me, I feel like Apple isn't what I thought it was/would be.

Yeah I agree. I was contacted by phone on a Friday morning for a brief conversation with questions, then they said they'd email me a formal invitation to the seminar (this is for Perth, Western Australia, which hasn't even opened yet). The lady (a different one to who spoke to me on the phone) sent me an email thanking me for the conversation, but no invitation. I still hadn't received it by that afternoon and decided to wait the entire weekend. Still nothing. I replied to the email asking if they could try and send it through again, and was ignored. So I called the phone number supplied in that first email and explained the situation to the lady and, to put it bluntly, she was a complete bitch. She made up some story about putting in the wrong email address (twice apparently), despite the fact she had already sent me an email that went through fine. As soon as she "explained" this, she said - literally, in a very bitchy tone - "I'll resend it, is that alright with you?" and then hung up on me. Monday afternoon, after waiting a few more hours, still nothing. It took another phone call - and another instance of being hung up on by her - to just get the invitation (this time I think she was 'too busy' doing something else and forgot).

The group seminar went really well, at least that's what I thought. I seemed to be the only one out of the 12 people that had any idea about Apple, there was only one other person that owned a Mac and before the session one girl (proudly, might I add) said she would lie and say she had an iPhone if they asked. So I had particularly high hopes. They said they would actually contact EVERYONE by phone by the end of the week, regardless of if they wanted us to progress or not (which surprised me because from reading this topic I wasn't expecting that). By Friday I hadn't heard anything at all, so I had pretty much given up and knew they didn't want to see me again, but I sent an email anyway to see if they could maybe even say what I could improve upon. For someone too gutless to call like they said they would at the seminar, this lady (the same one that hung up on me twice) was VERY quick in replying with a stock, copy-paste job, got it within five minutes of sending them my email.

This was a month ago now, and to be honest overall it's kind of numbed me with Apple. There's a lot of things they're doing right (subjective, of course), but from my observations their recruitment department needs a lot of work. For a group of people trying to publicise the exceptional service provided in Apple Stores, they provide pretty crappy service to the people they're trying to hire. Or maybe she was just a case of "I work for Apple, therefore I'm better than you".

I put in my application online 4-6 weeks ago. Never thought I would hear anything but got a phone call and email to attend a seminar. It is this week. This thread has really helped out a bunch!!

Well if anyone cares, I did not get the job. I made it to the final interview, feeling really confident in myself at that point and really excited about the job, and now I feel rather disappointed. I honestly thought I was a good match for the job, but oh well.

For those who are currently going through the recruitment process, the best of luck to you.

EDIT: The funny thing is that the email notifying me had the subject "Career Opportunity"

How misleading! :D
