I went to the geniuses and creative roles seminar. It's been nearly three weeks now and I haven't received any e-mails or calls. Dunno if I should still keep my hopes or not.

I've got a hiring seminar coming up tomorrow, and I'm applying to be a Creative.

I'm a bit nervous, and while most people assume I'm out of college, I'm gonna probably be the youngest there at almost 16. Do they even hire people under 18?

I was at a recruitment seminar - it was fun!

NOTE TO ALL:

I actually got a store interview - and it went great and they were considering me. I had exactly what it takes.

Then, I made the mistake and e-mailed the store recruiting manager about what it takes to get benefits.

My next e-mail was one saying that I'm no longer being considered.

Of course, I then get an e-mail from the many career websites saying to be careful what you ask potential employers - ask the wrong question and you're AUTOMATICALLY TURNED DOWN - no matter how great you are for the position.

Back in the day, it was okay to ask questions. But I guess in today's Economy, companies can be so strict, they can disqualify you based on a common question. Sad, but true. Benefits and pay are usually now asked after the offer...

Doesn't matter though. I ended up with a part-time retail job in Aviation that I love, and they just offered me full-time, with benefits!

No more IT/computers for me!!!

My career just "took off" (ha, ha, pun)...

Wooo, hooo!

Hey guys

I also attended the 2 apple seminars, I have a question for zouglou

Did you get a phone call to say they are inviting you back for a 3rd interview and expect an email soon?

Its been nearly 2 weeks and no email, I keep thinking I have missed the date or something!?!

Its a relief that you haven't heard yet, I was starting to think I had somehow missed the email and missed the 3rd interview.

Its strange how they said that the 2nd interview was the final stage but they have now added a 3rd stage, I don't really mind though as I have enjoyed both of the interviews so far and I am quite excited to attend the 3rd.

Just wish they would send the email and put my mind at rest :)

It's annoying because I don't know what else could possibly be tested for a retail role... We've literally been through everything, & not even been given a general idea of when the store will be opening..
I'm really hoping it'll just be a short & casual 1:1 chat with the manager :)

Call them and ask the status, and tell them you are still interested. Just don't ask any stupid questions... ;)

I think I'm just going to wait & let them get back to me... They said it would take about 2 weeks to arrange the meeting, and it's been 3, but I know that nobody from my interviews have heard from them yet so all's cool still! ;)

If you get back to them now, you demonstrate an interest in and motivation for the position - something a hiring manager would be very interested in seeing. Waiting tells me the applicant is half-hearted about the job.

Hey Guys, I haven't heard anything yet, Zouglou let us know what they say in response to your email.

I was thinking of sending one too, asking for a little update.

:)

Hi everyone, just an update!
Everyone's now been informed about when the meeting with the CG general manager will be, and it's called a "Meet & Greet" which is cool, as I imagine it'll include meeting the other hopefuls/future-employees!
Also, I was told by some Specialists @ White City that they have people training there at the moment for Genius positions at the upcoming store, meaning that this really must be the final stage (or indeed that the final stage was the last interview!)... & For Apple to be recruiting a whole store of people, and a flagship one at that, I imagine they're selecting a few hundred applicants surely? So it would make sense for a "Meet & Greet"-type event... Who knows, I'm just guessing because I really don't know what else could be tested/asked of us! :p Anyone else know anything?

Covent Garden store, am I right?
I went to the iPad announcement day recruitment seminar at the hotel.. wasn't successful though. May I ask what key points you pushed / advertised about yourself? I have another invitation for the Regent Street store (this will be my third seminar .. :/)

Hey, yeah it's for the Covent Garden store :)
Well done for getting another invite, your CV must be sparkling lol
But as for what points I pushed about myself... I'm not really sure! I don't know if you had to do any scenarios with you as the employee - then as a customer, but to me that was the point where people either got through or didn't, as it showed everyone's potential in each role... I'm a drama student so improvising the scene was almost second nature, but sadly a lot of people really struggled :(, so maybe practice this? & in the general Qs bit, don't be too cocky or OTT, some people really made me cringe in my seminar. Also, you could go to a store near you and just watch the employees in action, I mentioned I did this in mine & they seemed impressed lol.. Hope this helps!

I received a call last week (they have never called me before.. just emails ) and at the end of the mini-interview, she said that she was impressed and that I am invited to come. I'm not exactly sure what that means.. or why I have been unsuccessful so far then. I think what I have to do is try to be as relaxed as possible and try NOT to act. Unlike you, I am a terrible actor and I think the mistake I did last time was to plan exactly what I was going to say, which probably made everything sound a bit over the top. Proof that I am a terrible actor was the mini-interview over the phone, as she caught me at the worst time possible, while my girlfriend was having a loud fight with her flatmate next door (I went into another room to take the call) and I was still able to talk about myself etc. I was basically forced to calm down and just be myself, as phone interviews are kind of a 'make it or break it' thing.

I think I will need to somehow just 'calm down and just be myself' at the seminar as well, but keeping in mind the key factors that would make me stand out and show that I (and why I) want to work for Apple. I really hope it will work this time. In Germany there's a saying "Alle guten Dinge sind drei" ("all good things are three"), so hopefully this third seminar will be a success :D

PS: Did you tell them about any software and Apple products you're using, technical and other experience you got etc.? I have no idea why I didn't say that much about this at my last seminar :)eek:), but I have included much more factual information about this in my current CV and in the phone interview, so maybe that's why she was "impressed".

ok.. I feel a weird mixture of surprise, anger and confusion :( I went to the seminar last Tuesday and was turned down AGAIN... I really have no idea what I did wrong :( Then yesterday at 11PM (!!) I got another invitation via email from the same recruiter to come to the same type of event   That would be my 4th recruitment seminar.. is this some kind of game they're playing with me :( I replied to his email asking for clarification.. if this is a mistake or so, but I haven't received any email back from him..

Well, I'd take another chance if I was in your position...

Being invited back is a good thing - not being invited after you've re-applied (my position) means they've closed their doors on you...

Hey all I got invited to a NJ seminar after applying about two weeks ago. The seminar is scheduled for may 16th.

Does anyone know how long it might take to finally start working if all interviews go well? Debating whether or not I should sign up for some summer classes.
