i got hired! :) my entire hiring process went like this:

Thanks to you and others in this thread for the "inside look" into this process. I received my email last week, and the career seminar for the Metairie, LA store is tonight (actually need to be there in about 2 hours :))

No matter how I do, I'll post my experience as well (and if I don't make it, I'll re-apply :))

Good luck for any others at the seminar tonight!

Working for Apple is not all it's cracked up to be, at least in retail. Believe me, I worked for Apple in retail for almost 3 years. It's not that great.

AFAIK depending on your skill level you can start out at as much as $12/hour and even part-timers get health benefits. You can even wear flip flops to work and you're allowed to a have a beer on your lunch break.

I'm so nervous.. I had my group hiring seminar on saturday, felt like it went pretty well! they said we would all hear back from them this week.. however i assumed the successful applicants would hear back on mondayish and others later in the week.. its now tuesday night :( does anyone know if they don't get back to you quickly it means you were not successful in getting through to second interview?

so I just finished the recruitment seminar on Sunday. Overall it went really well. The hiring manager said we would hear back either way if they wanted to interview us more. So yesterday I got an email from the hiring manager asking for some stuff to do a background verification with. I haven't seen anyone else have one of these after the seminar. Has anyone had it. If so is it like a traditional background check or is it just to like verify the stuff I put down on my resume. I'm assuming it's a good sign since I haven't been rejected yet :) what comes next though?

Just came back from my second hiring interview, which was a 3-1 in Pittsburgh, am not sure if anyone else was there. The first group seminar, I was probably the best one there, or at least 2nd one. I knew the products all around and I also killed the presentation part of it. The employee I talked to last before leaving, told me that I should expect a call because I did that good. I was on my way home from the event when I got a call for a second interview which was today. I was first interviewed by 2 older employees and then a floater joined us. I answered their questions precisely and gave them the best answers I had. They asked me if I had any questions for them and I said no, that I have read up on Apple and I had a few friends who work @ Apple stores around the country. In all I think there were impressed but you just cant know with these people. I was told that we would get a decision in 24-48 hours, so the waiting game starts now. I am the most impatient person ever so this is just killing me right now.

2 days after, and still no call back. It also sucks since I am the most impatient person ever.

For those that went to a seminar, how long does it usually take for a HR to reply? I applied last Saturday and nothing so far.

Depends on availability, I did mine and got an email 2 weeks later, while at the same seminar I met a guy who submitted one a year before before he got contacted. Anyways, good luck.

Went to a seminar the other day. Here's how it went down:

We were seated around tables, introduced ourselves (name, occupation, fact about yourself). Watched an intro video, talked about the history of Apple and its retail division and then given a basic layout of its primary products. Shown another video, and then split into groups for presentation. Did presentation, followed by a brief Q&A with the staff on hand.

Those people that did get through the pass the first stage (recruitmen event) what was the key thing that you reckon that got you through?

I'm currently going through the process and this thread has been excellent help, so I thought i'd share my experience.

So i attended a seminar the other day, it was a pretty informal affair and is used just to judge candidates personalities. The casual dress code does relax the atmosphere. There was your usual brand promotion, but i found the whole thing quite interesting and you get to ask questions back at the seminar leader(s). we were asked simple things like why we wanted to work for apple and what products we currently owned. There was a fair bit of mac loving, which i don't think goes down particuarly well, there isn't really much constructivity from simply slating the opposition. We were informed at the end that we would recieve an email or call withing the next week to confirm if we had made the next stage or not.

I recieved a call the next day and have an interview soon, i'll post how that goes down after.

Character, personality, and the willingness to work in a team. The second interview tests your ability to react on-the-go. The third interview is about yourself as a person.

Right i've had my second Interview.

I thought it was actually quite good. It's relaxed, honest and just a general chat about you, what you can bring to Apple and is actually a healthy conversation. yeah, will hear back in a week or so i guess but i don't think i could have given any better.

Glad it went well! Mine was pretty much the same :] I received my callback about three days later so keep your fingers crossed!
