On second thought, I'm going to kill myself with speculation. I'll be sure to report back how it went.

Just got my call back from the interview. I didn't get through, so this is the end of the apple line for me right now. I may try again soon.

Well apple's policy is that they don't give feedback. Nevermind. I'm still on the job hunt and will try again in the futureee.

AFAIK depending on your skill level you can start out at as much as $12/hour and even part-timers get health benefits. You can even wear flip flops to work and you're allowed to a have a beer on your lunch break.

Wrong on almost every single point. I suggest ignoring this person's post.

Just did the hiring seminar at the Marriott in Pittsburgh on the 9th. I was impressed by how comfortable it was. Everyone was laughing, joking, and picking on one another. Of course there was a lot of sucking up involved but that was expected. We had to break up in groups (i believe 4 in my case) and give a presentation. The Apple employees don't really care about what your saying as much as how you say it and they will admittedly tell you that up front. Anybody else on this forum go to the same seminar? As far as attire, dressy casual. Nice pair of jeans, button down short sleeved shirt or polo, nice pair of sneakers or maybe try your luck in sandals as a few of the Apple employees were wearing them. All in all very comfortable atmosphere. Best advice for anyone, be yourself and participate in all the activities. Apple wants to employ hip, energetic, and enthusiastic people. I'm waiting on an email to give me the news and they said it will be sent within 24 hours of the seminar so I'mma hoping I get it!

Received a phone call instead of the email the next day scheduling a 1-on-1 interview. I musta really stood out.

I'm having trouble even getting the process started. Does anyone know how to work the online application? I've tried applying since May to nearly nine stores, and I've never heard back from any single one.

Now, I understand that it could just be that they're not interested, but I have a suspicion that my online resume somehow never uploads. Am I supposed to upload it AFTER I apply, or before?

Also, if you're applying for two positions, is your resume and cover letter supposed to contain position-specific information, or just a mishmash of all your abilities? I'm trying for a Genius job, with the second choice being a Specialist.

If someone could offer a walkthrough, I'd really appreciate it.

Bro, your best bet is to just walk in to your Apple Store of choice and speak to a manager. Let him/her know that your really enthusiastic about working for Apple and with their team. Be polite, make eye contact, and be yourself. Obviously your having problems getting through online so go the more direct approach. After handing a manager your resume, wait a few business days and give that store a call and ask for the manager that handles hiring. Speak to them and be comfortable on the phone cuz they can tell if your nervous/uncomfortable. Apple really doesn't care about what you know about specs and such cuz they can teach you that, they just want to know if your a fit for their company and "ecosystem". This is the best advice I could think of. Good Luck. Also if you have the chance or courage, jump in to a conversation a Specialist is having with a customer. This way you can display your knowledge and also show an employee that your comfortable talking to random people about what you love. Hopefully that employee could put in a good word for you. Good Luck.

Sounds perfect! Thanks so much for the tips! They seem really helpful as well as useful. I'll try using them when I can ;)
Hopefully it'll land me a job!

Don't do the bolded part. It's intrusive, rude, and arrogant.

I'm going to the Manchester store today, 8.30 pm-1030 pm, and I'm crapping it, I have a brother telling me to go fully suited, but after reading all this thread, that seems to be waay to much. Formal trousers and a shirt seem ok right?

What I am worried about is the presentation that everyone seems to be asked to make. Which apps are used to make the presentation? Is it keynote and imovie? And what sort of things are the presentations on.

I'm also worried as I am relatively young and worried about being over shadowed by much more experienced people. Any tips would be appreciated.

Definitely don't go in a suit. Formal trousers and shirt are at the top end, jeans and a shirt are a better bet.

The structure of a seminar can vary. I can't categorically deny it (it wasn't part of my seminar) but I do not believe the presentations involve any software/projector/screen stuff. By 'presentation' they mean standing in a small group talking to the rest of the room.

Good luck

Ok, no suit, i will still wear the formal trousers and shirt but have it undone, and no tie.

Good to know I dont have to learn how to use imovie or keynote, but could you give an example of what the presentation was about?

I was invited to the NorCal seminar!

When I RSVPed to the email I asked a question and I haven't heard back from them. Should I be concerned?

How long have you been waiting? I did the same thing I RSVPD and have not gotten anything back yet. I missed the last one requested an invite, I got one last night replied this morning. I was going to give it a couple of days and then email back and call the store. I must say that if they are as bad as they have been treating me. I mean I am not calling 24/7. I sent an email last week and called twice the last week. They never call anybody back. I am not really sure I want to deal with them anymore if they treat people like that. I mean I love apple but if all they are going to do is treat me like crap. They get no love (or money) from me.

Same exact thing, I think I sent like 3 emails. Whoops :p

Should I go into the Apple store and hand my resume to the manager before the seminar? I'm one of the people that like to have my confirmation confirmed so I know that they got it

Well I dunno how long has everybody been waiting? They would not call me back, I finally sent them an email telling them what Apple represented to me. I basically said that I wanted to stand behind a company and a career I would be proud of. I also said that I like to have more of a career choice, than just a job. I got an invite around 12:30 last night. I responded and asked is the seminar at the store or somewhere else and are they wanting that 3 minute mac hardware, to be some kind of sideshow presentation. My biggest concern with them as well as treatment is if they are disability friendly. I have a slight learning disability due to adhd. Sometimes people have to be more spefic with where things are and what they want when they want me to do things. But yeah. Also when I try to fill out that link to the invite employment application all i get it is some kind of page that tells me that I am not able to modify or edit it, please contact so and so. What does that mean?

Well I stopped by the Apple store I applied for and gave my application to the manager, he seemed like a nice guy. He said that he would put my application on the person's desk running the seminar for his store. :apple:!
