I got rejected after being told I'd get an interview for two months.

I'm almost relieved that I got rejected. I've been at my current job for almost 4.5 years and come to the conclusion that it's probably better than Apple with my current situation (Wegmans, if anyone has heard of them). They give me $1500/yr for a scholarship and are the most flexible employer I've ever seen. Flexibility is key when in college. And from what I hear, Apple isn't all that flexible.

I'm a diehard Apple fan, and this experience doesn't change that. At least now I can continue to develop for Mac and iOS :D (I also heard that Apple employees cannot submit apps to the app store, which wouldve really been a bummer if I did get the job.)

To all who are in the hiring process with Apple, good luck :)

Yeah, screw Apple. Wegmans is one of the best employers out there and they are only expanding. I would take your scholarship and finish your degree, then you can think about going elsewhere.

Got one this thursday and was wondering whats involded, ive heard there maybe be a video or presentation, as this changed? was there any one-one interviews?

Hope it went well sorry for long reply. there is a video introduction type thing talking about apple and what it is. then they will ask you to do some tasks which will determine how good you are at teamwork, then more videos then they end it. it is loaded with apple propaganda so be prepared. :)

Hey all.
I'm tempted to go for apple again in Feb (Had a seminar+group in sept/oct, didn't get it) after the six months I was told to wait. Is it worth going again? I don't know if there's anything else more that I could build upon, maybe I was just unlucky with the load of candidates they must have interviewed in the run up to Christmas.

Many people here applied in the past and thinking the same?

I was thinking the same thing...

But the whole process made me realize I'm not such an Apple fanboy I thought I was. I do love my MacBook Pro and will never purchase a computer other than a Mac, but I really don't know how well I'd mesh with the crowd that tends to work at Apple.

Nice thing about not getting the job is I don't have to feel guilty about dropping my iPhone for the Motorola Olympus when it comes out on AT&T :) I'm over iOS, time for some change. (As a former T-Mobile Sidekick user, Android is quite appealing. One of the founding fathers of the Sidekick created Android :D)

Just like others have said on the web, it seems like Apple Retail is nothing more than a glorified retail job with a couple extra perks you don't get at other places. I sound bitter, and it could be due to a two month wait to get a generic e-mail that I didn't get the job after being told 3 times I'd get an interview.

But if you're set on working for Apple Retail, go for it :p

Happy new year, everyone!

I was wondering, has anyone been contacted recently about a hiring event? I have one next week and I have to say, I was a bit surprised to hear from them. I thought they would be laying people off after the holidays, not hiring them.

Anyway, I've read this entire thread and I'm pretty excited to go, be myself and hopefully have a good time! (getting a job wouldn't be so bad, either :p)

Happy New Year!

I've just applied on Monday for Genius/Creative/Specialist on Monday, and Tuesday I received my email to go to the seminar. I've just finished reading through this thread and I think I'm prepared for it now.

Unfortunately, they're only hiring for part time specialists and "also looking for candidates that desire training that will lead them to Genius, Creative and Management roles". I guess you gotta start somewhere.

I would email Steve Jobs, or his assistants, and tell them what store you interviewed at and how unprofessional they were. I think with the sheer volume of people coming through they tend to get lax at these events. It showed even at my event, as some of the candidate responses seemed to indicate there was absolutely no screening of resumes. Also the manager at the store I went to was unreceptive to suggestions on how to improve the process. Basically my impression of store employees was that of a lemming, not one of someone who is an independent thinker. Good luck with your job hunt though!

Has anyone in the UK been invited to a seminar recently and not received the details? I received the initial email on Thursday which said they'd let me know in a few days. Its of course coming up to a week now and no second email. I think I might send an email to the recruiter to see if I'm still being considered or not. :(

I have received the first reply on January 7th (talking about that they are interested in me), and I received the London seminar invitation on January 12th. all the details of the seminar were in a PDF attachment. Meanwhile I had to confirm my present as well.

Hope it helps you mate!

Grats! I did indeed receive an invitation in the end for the 19th. Is yours for all London Stores, or one specifically, and is it on the 19th?

Been invited back for a interview at Covent Garden this week for Inventory Specialist, any tips?? For people going to the seminar, be as engaging as possible and ask plenty of unique questions. That's what I did second time round and know I'm one step closer to being hired. Good luck!!

I take it you're going to the one in Portland Place? Don't wear anything too formal, just go casual and dress how you normally would. Make sure you contribute as much as possible and ask plenty of questions as they watch you VERY closely. Good luck!!

I attended a seminar back in Oct and was unsucessful at that time.

I submitted my info to Apple again just to see what would happen and got a email to attend a session in my local store. The last time in was held in leased office space.

I was also told to wear dress freely in casual clothes this time around, whereas the 1st time it was business casual. and the info was from the store manager.

Fingers crossed this time around lol.

So I went to the seminar, two additional interviews and just had my final interview on Saturday. They said they would contact us in 24-48 hours. 48 hours just passed and I still haven't heard anything :(

I'm thinking no contact means no job. I've been debating contacting someone or not.. anyone have any thoughts?

I'd contact them. You don't really have anything to lose, I doubt the recruiter would be like "oh my god he dared to email me, I'm no longer going to offer him the job!"

Took your advice- thanks!

No problem. In my first email the recruiter said he'd let me know in a few days. It had been a week with no response and I was quite nervous to ask him if I was still being considered, to which he apologised and confirmed that I was while including the details, so it did no harm.

Have you got a response yet?
