My iMac with Leopard 10.5.4 has actually been acting really weird lately. It seems to be getting slower and slower and there's been lots of keyboard and mouse delay. Even my non-technical wife has commented that "the computer is slower".

I'm been thinking about backing up all my data and doing a total fresh reinstallation.

Here's hoping 10.5.5 makes things go back to normal.

And I thought it was because I was using my macbook more, with multiple apps running, and doing video...

mine did not work...

it said it could not validiate the contents of 10.5.5 what should i do?
you might think I'm crazy but try removing one stick of your ram. Same problem happened to me earlier last month and the ram swap worked.

Sorry new to Mac and learning.

I Downloaded the update, so whats the combo update, do I need it?

Delta - only the files that have changed since the last update
Combo - All files updated since RTM - it is basically like the Microsoft equivalent of 'network install' versus the delta install that occurs on Windows/Office Update.

My Air updated (321 MB) and then immediately claimed that it had issues with 36 iCal - MobileMe entries.

I had to manually say OK to my iCal events as being the most current compared to MobileMe. Interestingly/Annoyingly all the issues were with iCal entries that were more then 6 months old... some went back over a year.

Weird... seems to be OK now though... will report back if there are any other issues.

136MB for my Dual 2.0GHz G5

Did it remotely over VNC, seems to be fine, rebooted and so far I can still access it over VNC, SSH into it to get my music at work... so I assume its all good in the h-doubleO-d.

ok my wife's mini has the least on it - taking the plung on that machine first.....

*Edit - Front Row 13.1mb
10.5.5. 136 mb
*Edit 30 minute download, but I have ADSL and that estimate is dropping fast, in fact it is down fluctuating between 12 and 18 minutes as I type

Graphics problems still

Started having things like this happen with 10.5 and still having problems. I had my Graphics Card swapped out and have since upgraded. A reboot fixes every time. See the degeneration:

'Push' Sync for Mobile Me!

Has "Automatically" always been option in MobileMe Prefs for "Synchronize with MobileMe:"? I thought we were limited to 15 minutes before, and thats why they stopped calling it 'push'

4 minutes?? Time to trade in those tin cans and string there, eh? Mine finished downloading before I could even finish the mouse click. :D

:eek:Before you could finish the mouse click, JA, JA, time to trade, mine was finished and installed before Stevie was born, JA, JA!!!!:D:apple:

My blackbook doesn't stop syncing with mobile me its been doing that for 20 minutes now, i don't like that at all.

Just updated my Macbook. Download was fast enough. DSL.

It seemed like forever, though closer to 10 minuets till it restarted back to the desktop. Now seems back to normal. Just want to find out all of the updates that came with this update.

Okay so just rolled it out over my 18 MPs in the render farm:

Still going strong, no issues.

PS: That's an "iLie" - I only have one Mac Pro! :D

Ipod Touch (FW2.1) not synching now with iTunes 8

This is weird! Since the update to 10.5.5, my 16GB Touch isn't syncing properly with iTunes 8:

- sync shows on the Touch and it mounts OK in iTunes
- I get the 'syncing iPod' in iTunes
- then the syncing stops completely after a few secs of the beachball
- BUT the sync icon is still spinning next to the iPod icon in iTunes
- and my Touch stops syncing and goes back to its desktop...

I can transfer music to and delete it from my Touch but iTunes no longer wants to sync contacts, calendars, apps. etc.

Anyone else getting this? Any suggestions?

FWIW, everything was working swimmingly with iTunes 8 *before* I upgraded to 10.5.5

It's not like the old days when updates seemed to matter. These updates nowadays provide incremental advances so tiny I see no difference. Still get a little thrill when I see one available, but it's a little of a downer once I update. I guess I'm just waiting for Snow Leopard.

Anyone else finding the behavior in spaces when mousing the side of the screen a little ridiculous? it makes me want to turn it off ;\
