Running visualization and design apps looks intriguing, but I still can't imagine preferring to watch a movie this way, as opposed to watching on a big-screen TV sitting with my family.
Yup, as someone in a podcast I listen to said, instead of all being connected by watching/consuming something in front of us, we'll be disconnecting together

How much longer until the haters force reasonable people to leave this site?
It's only been about twenty years for me. The trolls have been here the whole time, and though they are tiresome, they haven't driven me away yet. Hang in there. ✊

We have one tv and a lot of mobile devices. A lot of times my wife wants to watch one thing and I want to watch something else. I think watching a movie on Vision Pro may be a lot more enjoyable than watching it on an iPad.

I wish they didn't waste resources and cost into the external screen. Like I really couldn't care about seeing someone's eyes wearing that thing. Cut it out to reduce weight, complexity, cost, and improve battery life.

That's my only gripe with this thing, aside from the weird battery connector/wiring.

New ad, same old content.
While that is true, this demo made me want Vision Pro much more than the WWDC demo with same content. Not sure why but once this product has it's first price drop (even if the hardware stays the same) I'll be buying one.

They can afford to burn billions just like Meta has done. Who wants goggles on. This is just a nonstarter except for very limited use cases in education, porn and gaming.

And AR applications, which many people here seem to intentionally ignore, believing AVP's *only* purpose is to create multiple large virtual displays for general computing in one's living room or to watch movies.

I work remotely where I do not have access to Apple products nor even nice, large displays. This is perfect for most work requiring large displays that are too cumbersome or expensive to transport safely. You also neglected to mention entertainment which is already the biggest selling point (500 3D movies already ported to Vision Pro on Apple TV)

I have a family but prefer to watch movies alone with a minimum of distractions. I like empty movie theaters so AVP would be the best simulator for that.

This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen from Apple. They honestly expect people to walk around in their daily routine with that heavy device strapped to their heads? We’re a decade away from a version of the Vision Pro that makes this commercial realistic.
People also used to think it was weird to walk around with headphones on all the time or staring at your phone while walking around and that seems to have become the norm. Also, with a very few exceptions, AVP has never been shown outside of a home and users rarely even stand up. It's designed more as an non-intermediary device for work, communication and entertainment. So you can safely and comfortably go into the kitchen and back to the couch without taking it off but you're not really "using" it while doing that.

Here's an idea.

Maybe it will evolve into a small console projects a holographic 3-D screen in the room that everyone can see and the main user (or more than one) can manipulate with finger controls and hand gestures.

No headsets; everyone participating; no battery pack; and a real sense of community not weirdness and isolation.

AR apps can be made with just the iPhone but no one has made any except for pokemon Go game and IKEA furniture placement app. its not easy to make AR apps.

The ad makes it seem like it will be totally normal to walk around with those goggles on all day surrounded by your family when in fact (at least judging by my Quest 3), you make the conscious decision like „ok I am going to put it on for about an hour now while my wife is picking up the kids“.
Battery life will solve that problem for you ;
Whereas the dad in the commercial would likely otherwise be in another room with desktop monitors doing his work, not interacting with his family at all, the VP allowed him to be in the presence of his family reciprocating attention when engaged.
So instead of doing one thing at a time properly, he’s now doing two things halfheartedly at the same time?

We had the TV dialed to the game and this ad come on. My wife looked at me and said 'What?!’. While I may be an Apple geek, my wife just kinda also has all the Apple things. She uses her MacBook Air daily, and the iPad for recipes. Her AirPods and Apple Watch mostly gather dust, as they’re 'just annoying'. She asked me what those were (Apple Vision on TV) and if knew about it. I explained to the best of my ability a practical use case for most people. She just nodded her head and said ‘that’s silly’. I agreed.

You’re lucky to have a partner who agrees with you. What if one of you saw the value in something like this and the other couldn’t?
