Big deal. Apple is not obligated to keep prices low simply to accommodate your needs.

Unless these “upgrades” you’re talking about are required to maintain life, there are other reasonable alternatives out there. Or, you can do without.

I never said they were obligated to me, I'm saying that as an Apple consumer, and someone who has purchased several, iPads over the years, this release is specifically a tougher pill to swallow. iPads used to be much cheaper, and while all of the features today are incredibly enticing, you can't not think about price when you're dropping $1k+ on a tablet.

I'll never understand the combative geeks on here. I literally preordered mine today lol, I'm allowed to comment on the drastic price increase without being told "WELL DON"T BUY IT!!!!11"

Ok, now i am curious. Why do you need several of the new iPad Pro’s?

Sorry, perhaps that wasn't worded correctly. I meant I have purchased several iPads over the years and as they have advanced, they have become more integrated into my life.

Every Apple product released today is more expensive than the product it replaced. Every one. No exception.

Apple restrained from updating the MacBook Air and the Mac Mini for years and kept the ridiculous price, and now it raises the price to sound like the new model is a bargain. It is not.

The new Mac Mini is a joke. How can Apple possibly charge these prices for these small computers that do not even have a dedicated graphics card? Is Apple trying to convince anyone that an SSD is still so expensive these days?.

Intel UHD Graphics 630 not a graphics card? I agree about the prices. But they charge these prices because people buy at these prices.

Makes me glad I bought the past 2018 iPad Pro not enough improvement I need to spend the extra money for their new next gen. IPadPro.

So Apple crafts these incredible new iPads Pros with a revolutionary breakthrough design, unparalleled performance, industry-leading technologies and amazing experiences you just don't get anywhere else. And people are crying because they have to pay a few bucks more?
Please.
Pricing is irrelevant. It's the experience that counts. These new iPads Pros are the very best iPads Apple has ever made. If you don't buy, the rest of the world will.

That's very easy to say, but for some of us who have purchased multiple iPads and have integrated these devices into our lives, we're in need of certain upgrades, and today's prices are steep.

Almost all of Apple's products cost near, or above, $1,000 now. That's a huge difference than a few years ago when only Macs sold for $1,000+.
Prices for iPad Pros have traditionally been steep. If you have integrated multiple iPad Pros into your lives, then the initial price and replacement costs must've been factored in.

If you weren't aware of that before, you are now. Perhaps it is time for you to consider an "exit strategy" from Appleland and to something else.

I have not been pleased with the direction that Apple has been going in over the past 4 years. I'm not angry at Apple. I decided then to explore alternatives and be judicious in what additional Apple products I purchased. I didn't immediately toss all of my Apple products (which are numerous). I'm using them to their fullest for as long as they're viable, but when it is time to replace them, if Apple isn't providing something that meets my requirements (price included), then that Apple product will be replaced by something else.

When my iPhone SE needed to be replaced, Apple did not offer an updated version, so I went with an Android phone that was the closest in meeting my needs. The same with my Macbook Air... it was replaced by a non-Apple alternative.

When I was ready to update my 1st gen 12.9 iPad Pro, I wasn't going to pay the price of the new Pros for things that I didn't want, so I went with the less expensive 2018 iPad. It is working great at a fraction of the cost.

I think the reason why some are a bit irritated by the complaints about the prices is that those complaining paint themselves as prisoners of Appleland. They're not. They're making a conscious decision to continue on in the ecosystem...and so complaining about a free choice seems like a misplaced sense of entitlement... that they should be able to buy the device they want for the price they want to pay.

Good post.

My view is if price is more important than overall experience then you're going to have to settle for less by going elsewhere. Everyone has the freedom to make their own decisions as you point out.

For me, price is irrelevant. I want the very best products and the very best experiences, and I place a value on my privacy, and I know only Apple can deliver in these areas that are most important to me.

Well... Apple has just released their new iPad Pro and I’m speechless, if you were going to use this iPad as a computer you would need to get the bigger size, the keyboard case and the Apple Pencil, all of this would cost £1,287, yet I can go buy the new MacBook Air for £1,199 and that has a bigger display, a physical keyboard, Touch ID, 2 USB C ports compared to 1 and 128gb compared to the base model iPad Pro 12.9” at 64gb. This is absolutely outrageous Apple are charging more money for their iPads than for their laptops, I can’t tell you how angry I am, I feel like Apple are trying to rob me, they should of at least included the Appl pencil and or the keyboard case in the box, this makes me feel sick.

They increased the U.K. Apple Pencil price by £20, so it’s now £120, the old one was £100, and that was an increase form £80 which they blamed on Brexit..

I agree the price hikes are pretty high for a tablet. They look nice though.

No one is robbing anybody - you do realize that you DON’T have to buy it, right? You could always just go buy a MacBook Air? Or a Surface? Or any number of products on the market, if you don’t see value in the iPad Pro.

Not this value.

Apple iPad 11" with 256 GB + Apple Pencil + Smart Keyboard Folio = USD 1,257.00
Microsoft Surface 6 with a Core i5 and 256 GB + Surface Pen + Keyboard Cover + Surface Mobile Mouse = USD 1,463.97

No contest here. Surface a million times.

The iPad is a tertiary device for most people (not everyone). There's just no justifying investing nearly $1000 in a tertiary device.

well that's why there is a regular iPad. the feature set of the iPad Pro doesn't scream tertiary device. I can justify it because I'm the odd man out who has an iMac but no longer has a MacBook, the iPad is my mobile "computer."

Price is irrelevant because you can afford it. Apple keeps increasing the prices of its products, asking for additional premiums over and over again, while not decreasing prices of older products, even though their components have become cheaper to produce.

The problem with not looking at the price is that you increasingly get less for what you pay for. Money devalues, and suddenly you get poorer and you can get less and less. If Apple keeps increasing prices like it is, perhaps in ten years lots of users that are happily buying a MacBook Pro today will struggle to get an iPhone.

Privacy, for instance, should be an obligation of each of these companies. However, nobody cared and nobody really demanded it. Now, Apple is selling privacy as part of the "premium package" of its products, even though it should be free.

LOL. And I will never understand the overly defensive geeks on here who complain about price increases and hold a pitchfork with one hand while opening their wallet to give Apple more of their hard earned money with the other.

Sounds like you’re trying to convince yourself more than you are trying to convince the rest of us. There is no need to do so.

No one is pointing a gun at your head to buy the new model. BMW and Mercedes aren't robbing people by charging a premium price for a car, nor are airlines who charge a premium price for first class seats. If you can't afford it, then life goes on.
that's an arrogant attitude.
it's not a matter of being able to afford it or not.
the new iPad pricing is unfair, plain and simple.

It is getting a bit ridiculous, but no one has to buy it. There’s all types of expensive products out there. I don’t buy them if I don’t see the value.

Apple is testing your limit! Lol I have been saying it for years - don't lock yourself into the ecosystem and you will be fine.

Is it going to be the same post every time Apple releases something?

You mean people complaining because other people are posting things they don’t personally like?

I’d say you can count on it.

People say what they’re thinking, not what you’re thinking, and if people are thinking similar things, then there will be a lot of similar posts. And, of course, there will also be a fair number of posts of people shaking their fists while declaring “Bahhh, the world would be perfect if only everyone were like me! Baaaaa, look everyone, I can afford to be a consumer that doesn’t care about price baaaaaaah, I’m a better consumer than you baaaaaaaaa and you know I’m happy and secure because I tell people on the Internet that if they can’t afford something they shouldn’t buy it because that’s what happy and secure people do they post obvious statements that subtly imply their own superior consumerism baaaaaaaaah ...”

And so it goes.

Aren’t you psyched that you can afford stuff, though? I think that’s so cool. And really impressive too.

Good for you! No, I mean it, good for you! You really have life worked out to be in a place where people who complain about prices irritate you. You should be very proud. I know we’re proud of you.

Omfg get a grip, sis. Discussing the clear price increase over the years equates to "holding a pitchfork"? And "defensive"?! Yes, I gave Apple my money...I also commented on the exorbitant price. Neither are mutually exclusive.

Not sure I at all understand your mentality but go off I guess.

Sounds like you’re trying to convince yourself more than you are trying to convince the rest of us. There is no need to do so.

I am definitely not. I have an iPad Pro, which I bought back in 2016, when it was far cheaper than it is today. And I simply do not use it. I am not paying even more for it now.

I'm not angry at Apple at all, other than the fact that the prices continuously get higher. Clearly I'm still game, as I've been purchasing, but it is worth noting. On the contrary, I think the X and XS Max are the best iPhones I've ever used, and I'm loving my MacBook, MBP and HomePod.

For me, there is no "exit strategy" because I simply love the products, and how they work with my life. However, it is getting more and more expensive, and they're really hiking these prices up fast. It's just jarring I guess.

Then you CANT afford it. People who can really afford it wont scoff at a price difference of 150-200$ over what they expected. If an extra $100-200 is the deciding factor over you buying it or not then you shouldnt be buying it.

what an abjectly flawed argument/mindset. It's like the cringe comment of "If you have to ask how much something is, you can't afford it." Ever think people will draw a line at perceived value? Strange concept right?

Apple charges a premium for a premium product. It always has. If you can afford it then just pay it and enjoy your new toy. Have been doing this for years. I drive a BMW and it also costs a lot more than a Hyundai that does the same job. I know which I prefer to drive!

Neither are mutually exclusive, sure. But doing both makes you look stupid because nobody's holding a gun to your head and forcing you to buy anything. Voluntarily shelling out $ for an item that you think is too expensive is simply dumb.

Not sure I at all understand your mentality but go off I guess.
Believe me, the feeling is mutual.

So vote with your dollars and don’t buy one. You are not entitled to anything at a price you deem reasonable. Everyone else will do the same. The market will decide whether the price is too high or not.

Captain Obvious, is that you?

Hey man, where you been, and what’s with the “IllIllIll” stuff?

I just wanted to tell you what a big fan I am. Once upon a time, the obvious went unsaid, but not anymore. Gosh no. Now, people who are otherwise fairly ordinary and average can hop online and tickle their dopamine receptors by going around and authoritatively stating the obvious. You know, it makes them sound like they’ve got it all together, have life all figure out.

Problem is, when I walk outside in the morning, I look around, and all I see are normal, everyday, somewhat homely, slightly overweight people who do things like trip over curbs, and jaywalk, and litter ... and I always wonder ... where are all of the together people I meet on the Internet? These Uber-confident people who state the overtly obvious as if it’s some kind of personal Yoda-like insight. Independently wealthy people with awesome jobs and perfect credit scores. Hey did you know that everyone pays off their credit cards in full every month.

It’s true! It’s totally true! I know because they tell everyone.

And they have no patience for those not as together as they are, no sir-ee bob!

Yet, I walk outside, and most people won’t even make eye contact!

I bet I know what it is. I bet the best people stay inside, perfect the rest of the population one person at a time. They don’t have time to go anywhere. Telling other people the way things are is a full time job.

Anyway, I didn’t mean to go on so much, I’m just really happy that you’re doing well, Captain Obvious.

Than you for all that you do for us. Without you, I just don’t know what we would do. Probably cross the street without looking, or go outside in the cold without a coat, or buy expensive consumer goods that cost more than we have.

Let’s face it, the word “hero” may be over-used, but in your case, it’s appropriate.

Thanks again, CO!

Talk to you later.
