Sucks I won't get this in time for Christmas.

Apple says the warranty starts earlier than the item is received because of the way their system is designed. I had to cancel the AppleCare, and to have the AppleCare lineup with the arrival date, repurchase it then. On the phone, they couldn't confirm I would be able to re-buy the AppleCare with the same employer discount.

Pretty dumb, especially given the experience I come to expect with an Apple purchase.

I wish I ordered a 8core/8gb/512gb model. They said I would have gotten that in time for Christmas, because my 7core/8gb/512gb is considered CTO.

That CTO order won't be here until Jan 7th. So it's going to sit in Shanghai for another two weeks. If I order a 8core/8gb/512gb model today, I could have it Jan 12th.

This sucks. I was hoping to give and gift this to someone in Christmas. Opening an empty old Macbook box, or opening nothing isn't going to be the same. I'm considering going to a local Best Buy and buying any model they have in stock, and returning it after I receive the Apple order. That way I can at least gift them a present on Christmas, and they can have the excitement of opening a present on Christmas. It will suck to take inventory off the shelves, and return it as a used-open box item.

If Apple/FedEx had their operations working, I imagine I would have gotten it by now. I see a lot of people on here getting packages with in 48 hours of shipment. Mine was shipped on Dec 22nd, but it won't be here until Jan 7th.

Do you guys think Apple/FedEx set a cutoff period, and any package not in the air, is being delayed/reprioritized until after the holidays? I just can't understand how a package ordered on Dec 8th will get here Jan 7th, and a package ordered today will get here Jan 12th.

I just don't get wtf the package is doing for 2-3 days in Shanghai now. The same message, at localFedEx facility...

I wish Apple didn't advertise MBA models ordered by Dec 9th would make it for Christmas. The fine print will say that applies only to non-CTO models. By the time I realized that, and realized my 7core/8gb/512gb model is CTO, it was too late. I read a 8gb/512gb model wasn't CTO. While that is true, it is only the 8core model that wasn't CTO.

Had I spent $50 more for the 8 core, I would have it by now

We're out of luck here. FedEx is done for the week. No more deliveries. Tried to call and ask why it's sitting in Shanghai with day-after-day updates of "at local FedEx facility", but they couldn't provide any updates. They said call back on Monday.

This Christmas sucks. Covid and politics ruined 2020. Pandemic so out of control we can't even have Christmas. Takes a month to get a package. Christmas might as well be cancelled
Dude, be grateful....the worst thing happening to you is not getting your new model MacBook Air in time for Christmas?

Millions of kids and families don’t even have food on their table, people dying or suffering sick....

Be grateful you are one of the few in the world able to get one of these material things....

God bless this reply. I was about to say the same thing. This guy trying to abuse Best Buy's policy just because he made the wrong choice of model? Big deal. Go spend time with your family and stay safe. You obviously forgot what's really important.

Anyone get any movement on MBA base 8/7/8/256 with Dec 28-Jan 5 delivery window? I ordered on the Dec 10. From previous posts, it still looks like apple is still clearing backorders from first week of Dec.

Just stop it. You are alive and have food and a roof. If the biggest problem in the world was not having your new macbook for Christmas... it would be really different.
Please just stop complaining.

People are just excited. Nothing wrong with that. This is a thread about the shipping, not about starving children.

Ordered a Mac Mini 16gb/1tb on December 16th with an estimated delivery date of Jan 14th-21st. No change since then.

I gather many people have gotten theirs earlier than the first estimate? Fingers crossed...

My MBA 8/8/16/1TB order has a 12/24-1/4 delivery estimate, but I haven’t seen any indication of shipping yet. I ordered on 12/2.

Dec. 10th, 8/8/16/512 SG MBA finally changed from “Processing” to “Preparing for Shipment”. Not sure how long it’ll take to actually ship but at least it’s some progress. Can’t cancel the order anymore either. Est. Ship window Jan. 6-12.

Received a notice that a charge from Apple was pending on my credit card. Hopefully this means something is happening. Still shows as "processing".
Checked again, today it says "Preparing to Ship". Very excited.

M1 MacMini with 16G/1TB
Ordered: Dec 3, 2020
Scheduled to arrive: Jan 12, 2021

I guess I need to start thinking about what monitor to get.

Nope, MacBook Air 7/16/1TB via expercom. I choose it over Apple because coupon + expressed shipping.

I ordered a similar configuration MBA on 12/2 and haven’t seen any movement either. Maybe the airs are in higher demand? I’m sure they’re built on different assembly lines.

Last time I've asked they said the demand is extraordinarily high. It still follows their schedules which is 3-6 weeks to ship, 27-42 business days to deliver.

Maybe because the 1TB SSD? I thought ordering a 512GB then it probably won't be enough for the long run.

I haven’t asked I’ve just been watching this thread and checking my order status.

I’ve seen the MBP 16/1T pop up in local apple stores 3 times now over the long weekend, but no MBA in the same configuration. I’m wondering if they haven’t quite balanced production to meet demand, or maybe the MBA is a little more difficult to build.
