Now in Memphis! I’m in Atlanta, here’s FedEx tracking so far if anyone is interested.

I’ve owned Macs since 1984 and my new Mac mini (8/256) takes me back to my amazement of the first Mac!. Waiting til the MBP 16” transitions to get a proper laptop but what I’ve seen so far is quite impressive performance and discernable running any software I have.

I am a little frustrated with some of Bluetooth wake up problems I’ve experienced but hopefully this will get fixed in the next Big Sur release.

All in all - for a first gen product (that Apple has probably been working for several years), it’s quite an achievement. Kudos also to TSM to get their mfg process to 5nm, well in advance of Intel/Samsung.

Yeah, my charge disappeared almost as quickly as it appeared (it was present yesterday, gone today)...

However my order has just moved to preparing for shipment, so progress at last! It is still showing a delivery date of the 4th Feb, but maybe that will update when it ships as it seems quite far away... that is unless it comes via DHL in which case they seem to take forever to get from China to Europe (based on my AW S6) so could still be accurate!
Mine shipped yesterday in the morning but haven’t left Shanghai just yet. My charge reappeared this morning and I expect the package to start moving sometime tomorrow. Hopefully I receive it faster than the ETA provided

Shipped today, with an estimated delivery date to Colorado Feb 1. The factory must have had a productive week!

My laptop made it from Shanghai to Denver in less than 60 hours, including clearing customs. Cautiously optimistic the laptop will arrive before Thursday, the expected delivery date on FedEx's site.

i see a lot of people talking about shipping - were all the 'non standard' configs backordered until now? i ordered a M1 air with 16GB + 512GB of disk on 1/4 and it didn't ship until 1/22. i assumed this had something to do with covid but is it possible demand has been that strong that there was an almost 3-week lead time?

fedex says delivery 1/29 but apple says 2/2.

I was thinking it may be some part supply issue, like the 16GB memory module or non-standard SSD sizes.

UPS do seem a bit all over the place with shipping right now (at least to Europe).

The story so far...

My MBA left Apple on Thursday last week, but (according to UPS) was held up by a paperwork issue so spent three days in Shanghai (hope it enjoyed the sights!) before finally leaving on Sunday morning (local time). It made it as far as Korea, where due to operational reasons the flight out of Korea was delayed by 12 hours, which lead to UPS delaying my delivery by two days... bit confused how a 12 hour flight delay equates to a 2 day delivery delay, but hey ho. It finally left Korea yesterday evening (local time) and according to the UPS tracking is still in transit from Korea which is just bonkers as the plane would have run out of fuel by now!! Looking at flight radar, the plane landed in German at 2am local time so clearly the item has arrived in Europe, but just not yet been processed or scanned yet. Guessing there is a nice pallet of Apple stuff sat in the depot somewhere!

Interestingly, if the UPS scheduled date is correct, it is going to take the parcel as long to get from Germany to the UK as it did from China to Germany, which seems kinda insane.

Watch this space... On the upside, as I can't travel right now and am missing travel adventures, my new laptop seems to be trying make up for it for me!

Update for me:
MBA base model ordered 1 Jan
Est. Delivery 19-26 Jan
Card Charged 21 Jan
Shipment notification 21 Jan
Expected delivery 22 Jan

Shipping is originating from Lebanon (Nashville), TN via FedEx and destination is approx 4 hr drive away in Mississippi.
I have been to Lebanon but never found Nashville there ;)

I've had a fun experience thus far. MBA 8/16/512 Gold.

Ordered: 12/27. Original estimate: 01/28-02/04
Charged: 01/20
Shipped: 01/21
Days in Shanghai: 4+

From 12/27-01/19 I was very self controlled. Convinced myself "It's gonna take a month to get here, no need to constantly check the order status." Well that went out the window once I got the ship confirm, and now I'm addicted to checking every hour. Much to my dismay, it hasn't moved an inch. On the 21st UPS tracking said awaiting Customs clearance. Since then it doesn't mention Customs, it just tells me to check back "tomorrow" for an updated delivery date. Four tomorrows later and still nothing.

I'm guessing it's probably still held up in Customs, and it'll likely get here between or even before the original estimate. Shipping out right before the weekend probably didn't help either. But seeing so many people online receive their laptop a day or two after shipping is such a tease.

Am I the only one who is in the US and has theirs coming on UPS by way of Hong Kong? My last update was departed HK:
