A little more progress now. Thought maybe it was on a plane to the states by now but not sure what happens after it clears customs. I couldn't line up any planes (especially UPS) to any of the US landing spots from the departure time given in the tracking info. I just received the customs release notice well after the departed notice despite what the tracking time says.

Well now, after over two months of saving up after paying that SSI bill and getting my tax refund, I finally re-ordered a MacBook Air in silver finish, with the 8-core graphics, 512 GB SSD and 16 GB of RAM; it should arrive at my address in roughly three weeks.
OK, my payment for my MacBook Air is now being processed through the bank! It wasn't like that when I initially ordered one in January, as that was taking a while and I was able to cancel the order in time when I owed the SSI money from overpayments (among getting hired at my current job.) Maybe it will indeed arrive within three weeks! But right now I'm on a really tight budget until my next paycheck next week...
And now the status has changed from "Processing" to "Preparing to Ship!" I'm amazed at how fast that was. Maybe they're speeding up production, or perhaps Apple's Chinese plant has been making a batch of MacBook Airs like the one I configured (silver 8-core graphics 512 GB model with 16 GB of RAM) for those who may order one and so they had one like that ready to prepare to ship to me?
My mini is on the FedEx truck for delivery. Sometime before 8:00pm tonight. So far 2 Fedex trucks have driven by with no love. I'm working from the living room so I don't miss to sign for the package.
Fedex is the worst. I watch another truck drive by Then I got a delivery attempt message. They tried to deliver it to my neighbor. Now they say tomorrow. I called Fedex which is almost impossible to do. Got someone and they're supposed to make another attempt late this afternoon.
My M1 just arrived in HK after it took off this morning from Shanghai, hoping that it will get delivered before 9pm tonight seen as SF is usually quite good with that. However I'm in a quarantine hotel, so not sure whether that will affect whether SF delivers it on the same day.
From what it seems the holdups are mostly at Shanghai and not once it reaches HK, where it then bounces around to get to the UK. I live in HK (at the bottom of China) and spent a week on processing, so it seems the factory itself is taking a week to even build things before they are shipped out. Can't imagine the shipping itself is then more than 2-3 days so it should be the sooner shipping notification. Who is the carrier?

Its not urgent, I was just surprised recently when I bought something on eBay from China and it turned up two days later!
NOW I got a notification saying that my order has shipped out! Geez, that's even quicker than I thought, and I only placed the order almost four days ago! The Apple website and such says it will arrive Wednesday, April 7th, but when I checked the UPS tracker it said it'll arrive Monday, April 5th. Regardless, this means my new M1 MacBook Air will definitely be arriving some time in the first half of next week! And at the end of this week, I'll buy a nice USB-C hub (I like the looks of the Falwedi 10-in-1 Dongle) so I'll have it handy once I get the MacBook Air, particularly if I want to transfer data from one of my existing Intel Macs (via a Time Machine backup) to it! (I'll need to move things around a bit so only certain documents are transferred.) I won't transfer apps though; I can manually re-install the ones that are M1-compatible, and get new MacOS/iOS apps that'll work on it.
My Macbook Pro M1 was delivered this afternoon. Got no problems so far. Posting the full SF Express tracking history below, weirdly my paperwork says my Macbook was destined for Malaysia when I am in Hong Kong but whatever. Figured not a lot of people on the forum end up using SF so it would be helpful for me to post. Not sure how to format the post though sorry.
My M1 arrived this morning, weeks ahead of the original estimate.
Even having had an M1 Air, its amazing to see this machine doing all of the initial setup work - four cores running hard in utter silence, with the case cold to the touch and the temp at 26 degrees.

Currently due for delivery in the UK on the 16th.
I’m coming from a Late 2016 MBP and am excited to see how the M1 performs, though I suspect this may be the shortest-lived computer I’ve ever owned. If a refreshed, mini-LED MBP launches with an M1X or M2 chip soon I’ll likely trade up.

Just ordered my Space gray MBA with 8GB ram and 256GB SSD. This is as much a computer for learning about the M1 as it is a travel computer. That's why I didn't bump up the ram or SSD size. Says it should be here the 21st so if I forget to post a review by the 24th please remind me.
