Apple Silicon MacBook Air/Pro Mac mini Order Status Thread

So, new MacBook Air arrived today. First impressions, really liking the keyboard, screen resolution (especially when plugged into a 4k iiyama). Sound quality amazing - hadn't realised it had speaker grilles either side of the keyboard.

Initially tried using migration assistant but it was quoting 34 hours, so for now decided to start from scratch. To be honest, probably got a load of **** that I don't need on the old MacBook Air so other than music and some video not too bothered. If I'm missing anything it should be in the cloud anyway (iCloud or OneDrive).

Now installed the Parallels beta for M1 and downloading Windows Enterprise 10 for ARM (I run a Micro**** Partner**** - don't hate me too much ;) ) so will see how I get on with that too. Micro**** Office already installed.

MacBook Air base model coming today

Order it from Apple on Monday but 3 weeks wait, as I’m impatient I saw for £10 extra I could get it from Costco and it’s coming today

Seems like the main issue for the long shipping time is the storage configuration (512GB). If I bump that up to 1TB, I could pick it up from a Store today.

Ordered the same model & configuration in February 20, and my ETA is 12-19 March. Still in processing though.

Mac mini 16GB/512GB. Ordered 2/21/2021

Promised 3/11-3/14. Shipped 2/23/2021. UPS says 3/2/2021. It is now in Louisville KY hub waiting customs clearance, 1 shipping day away from Columbus OH. Pretty good.

Mac mini 16GB/1TB. Ordered 02/19/21 from Adorama, Delivered 02/25/21.

Been using the last few days getting it all configured and getting my desk all cleaned off for it. Been migrating data from my old Mac Pro to it. In the process I decided to buy a new backup drive and had to move three drives from the inside of my Mac Pro to external enclosures.

Everything is working great! It's a tad slower exporting in Final Cut then my MacBook Pro, but that is due to the discreet GPU. The processor in the MacBook Pro is rarely touched whereas on the Mac mini it seems to hit the CPU harder. I tried my hardest to avoid installing Rosetta and just run native apps but had to cave so I could run nodejs and Logitech Options and install the printer drivers for my old HP LaserJet. (That later one was surprising as Apple packages the drivers and I'm showing they were updated in December at some point. I was hopeful that they would have repacked the installer to run on Apple Silicon but I guess that wasn't a priority). Hopefully these get updated soon!

You might need the technical preview of Parallesls and the Windows Insider Preview of W10 on ARM.

MBA 16GB/512 Ordered on 2/11 with est arrival 3/8-3/15. Shipped 2/25 but now stuck at a HK facility since 2/27 with unknown delivery date from UPS.

Edit: Received today! 3/3.

Ordered an M1 Pro 16/256gb on March 2nd. Delivery date set for March 19th on the Apple Store app. I’m based in Ireland.

Is the extra RAM the reason why it’s so slow or is it always this way?

I ordered a 13" MacBook Pro w/M1, 16/256 on 2/24. It shipped on 3/1 and went straight to the 'facility' in Shanghai and according to scans, there it still sits today, 3/4. Apple's original delivery date was 3/11, but moved up to 3/9 via UPS. UPS does not have details yet.

Update 3/5:
UPS tracking now states shipping is "Delayed due to severe weather." I haven't been able to find any severe weather on the route from Shanghai to Georgia. No scans out of China yet.

Update 3/8
UPS delivered my MacBook Pro today. It sat in Shanghai until 3/6, then went to S. Korea. From there it shipped to Anchorage, Louisville, and finally Atlanta.

There is an app called "Shop" that traces all incoming shipments from all carriers that I have found to be very helpful when tracking multiple shipments. It hasp a purple icon with the word shop in white.

I ordered a MBA (8/16GB/1TB) on 27 February. It changed from processing to "preparing to dispatch" this morning (9 March) and I'm hoping it ships soon! I'm in the UK, if that makes any difference. The original estimated delivery window was 9-16 March, so I guess I'm not getting my machine early..

EDIT: I just got an email telling me it will be delivered in 16h (on 10 March)!

Did you ever see anything like this on your order status?

This is from DHL:
“Shipper has generated a shipment label, but the shipment has not yet been handed over to DHL.”

It was “shipped” on March 4th but hasn’t budged from this status since. Delivery date due on the 19th. It was the 16th but showing 19th now.

Anything think the Apple stores will begin to carry more than just the "base" model of the MacBook Air, the models with more than a 250 GB drive and 8 GB of RAM?

No, I didn't see this at all. In fact, DHL emailed me with a shipping notification before the order status on Apple's website changed. Best of luck getting your mac soon!

I'm getting a bit restless waiting on my order to update. I was hoping that it would ship sooner and be here before the end of the month. Ordered a 16/512 Air on March 5th, and its expected for the 23rd-30th

I ordered the same thing from B&H on Monday, and it shipped today, expected to arrive Friday.
