Well I’ve finally ordered a Mac Mini 16/512 from the UK Refurb store for £929 (with another £125 off from a previously recycled iPad Mini 4). There are compensations to being awake at 5am, as it appeared in the store in the early hours. It arrives tomorrow.

There was a base 8/256 in the store as well, but I think 256GB will be a squeeze even with an external drive for photos etc.

I’m still not 100% sure if I’ll keep it, but my late 2013 iMac is getting slow & is now crowding the desk after buying a Dell P2421DC monitor for my work laptop. A USB-C/display port cable is on its way from Amazon as I use the monitor’s USB-C for plugging in the laptop.

I now need to think about speakers & webcam, although the iMac will be staying for a few days - much longer if I send the Mac Mini back.

I’ve also got to work out a new workflow for photography, having got out of the habit of using my camera until recently. Creative Cloud & Smugmug is what I’m using, but just need to work things through.

Did you ever see anything like this on your order status?

This is from DHL:
“Shipper has generated a shipment label, but the shipment has not yet been handed over to DHL.”

It was “shipped” on March 4th but hasn’t budged from this status since. Delivery date due on the 19th. It was the 16th but showing 19th now.
I'm in Italy and see that every time I order. I believe DHL changes status to “Shipper has generated a shipment label" whenever they are notified that they will receive a package, even when the package is just shipping from China. It usually takes 5 - 7 business days for the package to arrive at DHL and then they ship to the final destination.

Ordered the same model & configuration in February 20, and my ETA is 12-19 March. Still in processing though.
Update: Just arrived in my doorsteps earlier this afternoon, which I did not expect at all. The wait was worth it!

In summary:

Model: MBA Space Gray 8-core GPU | 16 RAM | 512GB SSD

February 20: Ordered & Processing
7 March: Preparing to Ship
8 March: Shipped, received DHL courier tracking number. In Apple's website the delivery date was set to 15 March
11 March: Arrived

Pulled the trigger yesterday on a Macbook Air with 16 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD. Presume it is coming from Asia, China, I'd bet, and is supposed to be delivered to me between 1-5 April.

Just got an email update saying the laptop will be delivered to me on 24 March via UPS, and its country of origin was China. Are they all assembled in China?

Well, this is kind of fun. My new MBA is in Hong Kong and is scheduled to arrive at my place Wednesday. Even got a map!

Dang...my new MBA has been "stuck" at the Hong Kong Airport for four days, and a hearty thank you to UPS. Is this the usual? It was supposed to be delivered tomorrow, Wednesday, but I don't see that happening. :(

What's your destination? Mine is preparing to ship to the UK today so I'm wondering if they might get delayed together.

It showed up today even with it being "delayed" for a day by bad weather. Seems to be ok...no dings, dents, tears, et cetera.

Well I pulled the trigger on a 16/256 M1 Mini from Expercom. They're currently $100 off.

I do all of my development on Linux. I've got next to no Mac experience, but the M1 has my curiosity piqued.

I hope it's all everyone says it is.

Ordered a MBA M1 16GB/512GB on March 21, 2021. Last update had it at Chek Lap Kok in Hong Kong. I was hoping it would be on this morning's UPS63 flight to Anchorage but so far no updates on the tracking. UPS is saying it should be delivered here in Illinois on Monday March 29th. Apple says Tuesday March 30th.

Anyone know how long it normally takes for tracking to update from arrival to departing Hong Kong? Is it possible it is already in the air and won't be updated until it's scanned in Alaska? Thanks!

There seems to be at least a two day lag at the Hong Kong airport. Mine landed in Taiwan, skipped Alaska, and then landed in Kentucky. UPS doesn't update a whole bunch.

Wow! I ordered a 16gb, 256 mini from Expercom yesterday. It said up to 3 weeks, but was shipped Fedex today. Fedex hasn't updated yet so maybe it'll still take a while, but that makes me happy.

Just got an update that it had departed Hong Kong.

26 Mar 2021 17:52
Departed from Facility, Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong

The only flight that matches up is a Cathay Pacific Cargo CX94 to Anchorage that left at 17:55. Would UPS use that carrier?
