Another Bay Area person here, UPS just dropped off mine, the driver made sure someone was home to make sure the packaged arrived. This is my first Mac laptop, have a older Mac mini that my son uses.
My SPACE GRAY MBP 8GB 512GB was delivered by UPS @ 3:48 p.m. today! Going home soon to open that baby up!

Picked up an M1 MacBook Air today but will be returning it to the store. Same dumb software limitations that have been annoying me since iTunes. Cannot watch my library on M1 until March 2021! Hard pass on Apple until they fix issues with iTunes / Apple TV. Why can't HBO max run full screen? No Netflix app. Really. Just a petty bunch of Karens and Darens in the Cupertino mothership.
I broke down and ordered an 8-core Silver M1 Air with 16GB/512SSD. Why? I'm hating the Touchbar on my week-old i5 MBPro ... too many unforced errors when typing numbers. And, the Pro is running noticeably hot despite not doing anything major on the system. Plus the more I see and read about the M1 series, the more I'm intrigued and attracted to them. So I'll see how the new MBAir goes and return one of them, probably the Intel machine, during the holiday period.
Picked mine up today from Apple Hillsdale. Base model. This thing is wicked fast and nice.
Coming from a 2013 MBP... "wow" is all I've got at the moment. I know the rumored 14 inch model will be too much machine for me as even this computer is. I just hope I can sell and upgrade when and if the time comes. Honestly though... this is a VAST upgrade for me... and all I've done is surfed the web.
How many of you buy screen protectors, cases and all of that jazz? I bought a Tiffany Blue iKing shell case but I'm now realizing the model # isn't compatible ?

This MBA machine is insane....battery life is being tested.
The computer is just too new! Especially with COVID-19, I am sure the Apple devs forgot this small detail.
