Shanghai gang update: Although UPS did not update tracking, the UPS-81 Flight from Anchorage to Louisville has taken off. The expected landing time is not today morning, but afternoon.

We don't know if our packages even made it to Alaska to be on that flight you're tracking, because the segment from Shanghai to Anchorage was cancelled.

Who's still stuck in Eindhoven? since the 17th here and my patience is wearing thin.
Recieved tracking information in Eindhoven on the 17th checking in. Inotially I got my hopes up to recieve it this week. Those hopes are crushed :p

Yes, the service is UPS Worldwide Expedited with UPS World Ease.

Edit: your description says "offers detailed tracking visibility for every package in the shipment," so we should get tracking updates.

Shanghai gang update: UPS81 from ANC to SDF (Louisville) just landed 5 minutes ago and is now taxiing to gate. It is entirely possible our laptops were on that flight, because @neworbit99 sent a link with the aircraft history, which pointed out that the aircraft had a 4+ hour layover in ANC. They could have unloaded and picked up packages during that time. If our laptops were on that flight, then we should receive an update within the next hour or so as it's scanned and processed through UPS's Louisville hub. If not, we have to wait for Shanghai's next Monday evening flight to anchorage. It hasn't been scheduled yet, but looking at the FlightAware history, there's usually a Monday afternoon/evening departure of UPS81 from Shanghai to Anchorage. Right now it's 1:55 AM in Shanghai, so it'll be a while from now, 12-18 hours.

Shanghai gang update: No tracking update after UPS81 and UPS93 both landed in Louisville from Anchorage, but I spoke to UPS Customer Support over the phone to inquire about my shipment. They found some more detailed information, since there were no tracking updates in over 60 hours and no scheduled delivery date for me. You can only file a claim that a package is missing if it's been 24 hours past the delivery date and it still hasn't been delivered. The customer support representative forwarded me to their international department, who told me that my package was still in Shanghai, the estimated date for delivery was 11/27, and that the latest I'd receive my package was 11/30. I'll wait until 11/30, and then file a claim if I don't receive it by then. Now it's just time for patience.

I have decided to return my base config MBA and instead use the upgraded MBA with more RAM. I have seen that in my use case, 8 GB just doesn't work out for me, and the computer slows down quite frequently when I am doing actual work.

The machine I will be upgrading to will still be an MBA, but with more RAM instead: M1 MBA: 256 GB SSD/16 GB RAM.

Ordered on: 11/21/20
ETA: 12/16 - 12/23 (Just in time for Christmas!!)

I know that this month will just fly by!

I think you made a good decision to ramp up the RAM. Can you elaborate on your use that caused the RAM drought?

You are much more Zen than I am? I've got 3 weeks to go, minimum, 4 weeks maybe. I'll be eating Thanksgiving turkey, and trying not to check the Apple Store orders at the table:eek:.

My Air is going back as well. Serious video playback and internet connectivity issues. It was great with the work software but when I tried to push existing video conversions in QuickTime, the system would freeze-up, play back would stutter etc.

Also, serious internet connectivity issues when most of our Apple tech was offline and our internet was working fine. I guess it was too early, but my iMac is also out of whack due to a corrupt macOS install so I am a bit frustrated. Have to rethink a machine YET again.

Oh well.

The M1 are fantastic machines and I truly wish Apple well with them. I am sure my next Mac will be awesome.

don't forget to refresh the tracking every 5 minutes because it could have changed in that time.
My patience is not strong. The refresh game has been on ever since a few days after I ordered. First it was refreshing the Apple Store to see if it's moved to preparing to ship. Then it was refreshing the Apple Store to see if it was shipped. Then it was refreshing UPS Track By Reference to see if it was going to ship before the Apple Store updated their page. I did all of this even though I knew I was going to get an email when it shipped.

Then the real game began. Signed up for UPS My Choice and all the text and email updates. Installed the UPS app. Refreshing the app, refreshing the website. Watched it clear customs relatively quickly, but still haven't seen it leave Shanghai.

It's unfortunate that the flight from Shanghai to Anchorage was cancelled yesterday - our laptops would have come much sooner then. Why do you think it was cancelled?

I am so sorry to hear of you issues, on both the M1 and your iMac. I'm curious did you check-in with Apple Support? If my MacMini (yet to be shipped) doesn't work out back it will go.
