My patience is not strong. The refresh game has been on ever since a few days after I ordered. First it was refreshing the Apple Store to see if it's moved to preparing to ship. Then it was refreshing the Apple Store to see if it was shipped. Then it was refreshing UPS Track By Reference to see if it was going to ship before the Apple Store updated their page. I did all of this even though I knew I was going to get an email when it shipped.

Then the real game began. Signed up for UPS My Choice and all the text and email updates. Installed the UPS app. Refreshing the app, refreshing the website. Watched it clear customs relatively quickly, but still haven't seen it leave Shanghai.

It's unfortunate that the flight from Shanghai to Anchorage was cancelled yesterday - our laptops would have come much sooner then. Why do you think it was cancelled?

It's all fun and games tracking your package until it just stops moving.

It could be for any number of reasons, I ordered something about 7 months ago and it taken over 4 weeks before it got put on a plane, I checked the live flight website and seen it had set off, i should have left it there and gone to bed because it was already late at this point but I stupidly checked again and it had turned around mid air and headed back for the airport.

It is safe to say I don't think I got much sleep after that.

Any place but here or there....
I am so sorry to hear of you issues, on both the M1 and your iMac. I'm curious did you check-in with Apple Support? If my MacMini (yet to be shipped) doesn't work out back it will go.
Yes I did reach out. Talked with an on-the-ball Tech support woman who appreciated that I knew enough about the M1 machines not to do a restore.

I hope your Mac Mini is awesome. I’ll live, just frustrated and confused at the moment.

My MacBook Air 16GB, 2TB SSD arrived today! Originally it said that it would be there 11/27-12/3. Once it shipped it stated 11/23 but FedEx delivered it today and boy am I loving it. Good luck to everyone else waiting.
Congratulations! Did you test the 2TB performance? Is it higher performance than the smaller drives, as reported some places on the Forums! TIA

I think you made a good decision to ramp up the RAM. Can you elaborate on your use that caused the RAM drought?

You are much more Zen than I am? I've got 3 weeks to go, minimum, 4 weeks maybe. I'll be eating Thanksgiving turkey, and trying not to check the Apple Store orders at the table:eek:.
I usually have tons of tabs open with mostly Google apps: Google Drive, Google Spreadsheets, and Gmail, because my work decided to use Google Workspace/GSuite for the backend.

Quite frequently, when these tabs are open, Safari starts slowing down and when it does, I notice that my RAM usage is around 80-90%.

This never happened with my 16-inch MacBook Pro with a Core i9 CPU and 16 GB RAM. I don't think it is a CPU but rather a RAM issue, hence why I am upgrading the RAM to 16 GB.

That is the main reason I went for 16GB as the videos on YouTube show pretty impressive Xcode builds that is all they have open, and in real life you have a number of other apps running at the same time.

I think 16GB should be plenty but when a new chip comes out with a 32GB option i'll be all over it.

So, I decided my package is going rogue and shipping to me by some combination of scooter, motorcycle, airplane, truck.. who knows! Still scheduled for 11/23. As long as it's here tomorrow, in one piece, and in working order I truly don't care if they tie it to a bunch of party balloons and float it over to me at this point.

I relate to this so hard. I didn't start refreshing until Friday which was 6 days into my order (pretty good for me). But now it's all I can think about. For me I'm refreshing my bank account to see if I'm charged, checking the website now and then on the chance the status changes before I'm charged, and checking Tracking apps (I have both FedEx Delivery Manager and UPS MyChoice already) because you never know it might pop up. Mostly, it's my banking app though.

I ordered the same model but not until the 14th. I’m still waiting for a December 9-16 delivery.
Does it still say December 9 to Dec 16? I ordered on the 14th as well, and my status updated on Friday to show Dec 8 - Dec 15 now.

I have decided to return my base config MBA and instead use the upgraded MBA with more RAM. I have seen that in my use case, 8 GB just doesn't work out for me, and the computer slows down quite frequently when I am doing actual work.

The machine I will be upgrading to will still be an MBA, but with more RAM instead: M1 MBA: 256 GB SSD/16 GB RAM.

Ordered on: 11/21/20
ETA: 12/16 - 12/23 (Just in time for Christmas!!)

I know that this month will just fly by!
I ordered my wife an MBA 16GB, 2 TB on 11/21 as well with same delivery time frame. Let’s hope they get this out sooner than promised.

Shanghai gang: it looks like UPS still hasn't scheduled a Monday flight to Anchorage from Shanghai - I was expecting one because there was one last Monday. If they didn't fly it Friday, and they didn't fly it today (last night/this morning), because the flight was cancelled, and they don't fly it tomorrow, when will they fly it and still make the 27th estimated delivery date? Why are they waiting so long?

Same here. I ordered 16GB of 256GB version MacBook Air and I'll be returning the base 8GB version. I have not had any issue with 8GB in my use case however I am planning to keep this for at least 4 years and 16GB will I believe be a bit more future proof.

Ordered on 11/15 with delivery date of Dec 9-16. Nothing on UPS yet..

Cancelled my base MacBook Pro order and got the base MacBook Air instead, the date only changed from dec 1 -8 to dec 2 -9. Really wanted to get rid of the Touch Bar and they both still use the same chip and not that much of a performance difference.

Mostly anything related to Chrome Web apps: Gmail, Spreadsheets, Google Drive, etc.
Chrome loves it's memory. Always keep the higher performance option. Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. I think upgrading the RAM was a good choice.

I also cancelled my Pro order and ordered myself an Air, same specs (16GB, 1TB and Space Grey).
I ordered through my card instead of using Paypal. Hoping Express Shipping comes through instead of Standard.

I wasn't using Chrome. I was using Safari to access these Google Apps, my apologies for the confusion and misunderstanding.
