So I assume they want to go on sale on the 12th to get ahead of the Note 8? Won't help seeing as they would launch until the week or so later right?

If 12th then this Sunday
If 6th then Today Noon

:)

They don't send invites out on a weekend so my guess would be next week if it's the 12th. If it's the 6th then invites will be today or tomorrow (last year it was on the 29th same as today)

today date is 28th not 29th yet :p

Yea but last year the invites went out on this day (i.e. Bank holiday in the U.K.) so either the invites will go out today or tomorrow IF it's the 6th, however it looks like the event will take place on the 12th.

Surely, if Samsung are launching the Note 8 on the 15th. Apple will not want to launch the new iPhone a week later on the 22nd?
Might be wrong, but it does not make good business sense to me.

I don't think Apple will care, they know how much hype iPhones get and the Note is unlikely to do it any damage. The rumour is that they will hold the event on the 12th but it has also been mentioned that it will be held on the 6th so we will have to wait and see, last year it was the 7th I believe.

The anticipation that falls every year around this time is crazy but fun. Can't wait until we're counting down the minutes it pre order

I think it fairly obvious by now what we will see, my only point of contention is the name. I don't see how they would call it iPhone 8 when releasing iPhone 7S at the same event. Maybe another name like iPhone Edition would make more sense

I think that there is a chance it will be called iPhone Pro, if it is compatible with the Apple Pencil. It would make sense to have iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus and iPhone Pro, especially considering the naming scheme of the iPads.

Yes, I think that it makes sense, especially considering the Galaxy Note series, well except the Note 7.

I think it's more likely for next year considering there is a rumour Apple will introduce a 6.3" iPhone, i think it may be a Note competitor, Apple are probably seeing that the Note is one of Samsung's popular devices and they will come along and steal the thunder from them with their very own version.

I'd like to see the Apple Pencil compatible with iPhones. I regularly edit pics on mine and would make it much easier.

But they'd have to make space to fit it in the device like the Note, would be too much hassle (for me anyway) carrying it around. So maybe next year if they do indeed release a Note sized competitor.
