can anyone explain why Jony never spoke on stage ??? Is he shy or problem with his english ????:apple:

He is English so I doubt that’s the issue. Maybe he just doesn’t like the idea of live presenting to thousands of people; I know I’d rather hump a dead badger than do that.

Ive Is from London. He is a very private individual who doesn't like to draw attention to himself. A lot of times, he doesn't attend certain events or if he does, he is not on stage.

That certainly makes it harder to make an informed decision for pre-order...

Indeed.
I remember when iPhone 6 and 6 plus were announced I was tempted to preorder but I really wanted to play with them in store before making the decision.
I went to the AS on launch day, of course they were out of stock but I made my decision. I returned the morning after, waited in line for about half an hour and got my iPhone 6.
For an S model I wouldn't care, but for new screen sizes I think it is better to see and touch the phone before buying it.

Tim Cook should walk out on stage and look at the crowd and say since everyone already knows everything there's nothing else to say, drop the clicker and walk off stage

Stop me if you've already seen it...

It's crazy to think that the Keynote could have been tomorrow :(

Don't torture yourself like that  it's only a week tomorrow! Pre-orders are going to be interesting to see this year, I wonder if there will be more 7s pre-orders over the 8 due to price.

Too bad Apple didn't do that because they could still get the release out by the 22nd and still do pre-orders on the 15th.

I think it has more to do with getting the Steve Jobs theatre ready, it gives them extra time.

The 5th could've been done with an extra push or two. I just want to see what's T-Mobile's offer on the iPhone 8 so I can go with them instead of going directly with Apple. If not, Note 8 for me!

And you know this how? After all, Apple doesn't have anything else on the docket right now, does it? :D

Put it this way, if you have Apple's cash flows, you can push things up with ease because it's one of the most powerful firms around. The company can spend $ to speed up presentations if it wanted to do so. Is it unnecessary spending, sure.

It's not all done with money. People are in the equation, too.

There's no way of knowing if Apple ever intended to have the event on the 5th, whether the venue was ready or not. Wouldn't that still have been earlier than past years? I feel like closer to mid-September is more consistent with when they usually do it anyway.

Agreed. Apple would still have to deal with contractors, scheduling, etc. You can't build a house with only a box full of money.

Now Apple can host all events except WWDC at Apple Park, they don’t have to show off everything at this event.

They can host an event in October for HomePod, Apple TV, watch, whatever they want to do. Maybe they will cram everything into this event, but they now have luxury of easily hosting a large event. They no longer need to rent out space, move in, move out, plan ahead certain times, etc.

They have more options now and flexibility with dates, plus they are going to want to use this state of the art facility.

That's not the point though. The point is that Apple has resources to speed things up if it wanted to.

Agreed. Now Apple doesn't have to secretly plan on a venue where they would hold future events. Scheduling dates being the biggest thing, which now events could be later or Earlier based on their schedule and not having to coordinate around other businesses.

Maybe, but it's not just about when they were ready to do a presentation, but when they're ready to start taking orders and shipping phones. Maybe they could have done a keynote in August if they wanted, but they wouldn't when they know they're not ready to start shipping until late September. As it is, all rumours suggests that supply will be low even then! So why would Apple rush the presentation before they have something to deliver? Some companies do that, but it's always been Apple's style to start selling a product almost as soon as they reveal it (except AirPods).

Wow, can't wait for the event! "iPhone X" is sure to amaze, but how about the new Apple Watch? Hope they give me a good reason to upgrade my Series 1.
