Should I preorder myself at midnight or let my friend who works at a corporate store for Verizon pre order it for me. Which will be faster you think?

Apple is always first, carriers are always second. Back when the iP6 came out, a friend got the new phone 3 weeks after launch from carrier. Pre-orders were about a week after launch (from the friends I knew that preordered from Apple). Those in line at the Apple store got theirs launch day.

And the carrier sites sometimes come online first, so a lot of people jump on them to order and come back here to gloat that they've already gotten their orders in while those of us going through Apple still see the Post-It lookin' placeholder message in their store. Then, the next morning, those that went through the carriers find out that their ship dates have already slipped 2-3 weeks. It sucks and I feel for them, but I'll never make that mistake!

YOU ARE SO RIGHT!

In some sense, the carrier pre-orders are a disgusting way to bait people into entering into a whole big list of people who get their phones after initial Apple demand is fulfilled (and ensuring people aren't overloading Apple's online store only), sure there may be a few exceptions, though supply is way too low for the carriers.

Believe me ... Employee work for apple store and carrier like att, tmoble and others they are group, they communicate what going on and they got first ,,,, so here easy chart to understand

preorder
---------
1- apple 60-80 %
2- att - tmoblie - verizon and other 20-40 %

I've always preordered my phone directly via verizon and have never had an issue. Gold 5S? Got it. Space Gray 6+?Right on time. Silver 6S? Yep. Jet Black 7+? Had to wait about a week, which wasn't that bad at all for a phone that was (at the time) more rare than Big Foot playing tag with a unicorn. Tbh, I don't buy into the whole "people who order via apple will get their phone first" stuff. I remember how rare the gold iPhone 5S was and I got mine a hell of a lot sooner than those who ordered directly from Apple. I also remember when the 6 Plus was hard hard to get, however my store that I worked at (best buy) had quite a few Pluses in stock...even tho the carrier stores had nothing and the local Apple store had one color and it was the smallest gig

I have a feeling iPhone 8 will not launch alongside 7s. It will come later around December with no hard date. Apple will show all the new features, screen, face scanning.. to have people drool over and you will have to wait months to get one.

Cause of the iMac Pro?

That doesn't coincide with rumors. Also it would be a huge letdown

Really hope they let you pre-order and pick up in store. For some reason I couldn't do this on the 7 last year.

This Will be my first year I am going to order directly through my carrier. I typically order through Apple in the past, but I plan on calling my carrier by phone and then upgrading. I could go with the online process with my carrier, but it could be actually quicker via phone assuming the wait times are not that long if I call immediately. For me, it's not about getting my iPhone immediately, I just want to get the pre-order in as quickly as possible. I'm still enjoying my iPhone 7 Plus very much.

Yeah I have my S8+ and 7+ so I have something to keep me entertained until the 8 drops. But man I can't wait to get that phone lol. I've done the Verizon preorder and never really had any issues. Hope the streak continues lol

Do you typically go through the online process or have you ever called them directly to pre-order? I'm not sure what would be the most efficient.

I always do mine on the website. Just make sure your bill is paid and you have your credit/debit card ready b/c that's usually what screws people up

I'm using the Verizon upgrade program, so it may be easier to do everything over the phone for concluding my current iPhone 7 pay off. But thank you for the suggestion.

Probably been answered a million times but please some refresh me... can I get it delivered to my work or other address than billing?

That could be a dilemma for Apple because if they plug the iPhone 8 but don't launch it at the same time as the 7s and don't release the price, people may be tempted to wait for the 8 rather than go for the 7s.

Yes, you can change your billing address information under your Apple account. Or your other option is you can alter where you want the Carrier to deliver the iPhone under preferences.
