Yowza, that's fast. There's one of the biggest reasons I would buy a MacPro...until now. Thunderbolt and these Sonnet attachments are going to make the MacPro tower unnecessary as speeds of processors pick up: aside from gamers and CGI rendering people or those with super-bundles of data to process, anything Mac that is put out these days is fast enough for all remaining applications.

Yeah, but some people like four drives in the case, or four displays, or 32GB RAM. The Mac Pro isn't going away.

Wont be buying, but I'm interested to see what the new specs will be.

This is also my first time typing on a keyboard in a while. Feels weird!

This is my upgrade and additions year.

Started by buying the iPhone 4 to replace the 3GS.

Then bought a new MBAir 13 top line with 256 Flash a few months ago when it was released. Awesome! (My road warrior)

Bought a Mac Mini Server... just because! Haven't had the time yet to configure, but that's next. (Mostly wanted it for the Podcast Server)

Ordered the iPad2 which is due to my doorstep on May 10th. My first gen goes to my wife!

Bought a new MBP 17 i7 128Gb SSD matte-screen this week to replace my 2007 model that was getting slow. Spent last evening pulling the installed Toshiba 128 SSD out and replacing with an 240GB OCZ Vertex 3 SATA III SSD drive (6GBPS) and upping to 8GB. It now SMOKES! 16 second boot time from power on. The Toshiba SATA II 128GB SSD that was in the system is now living in a Mercury Elite-AL Pro mini enclosure from OWC, with Sata, FW800, and USB interfaces.

While I still have and plan to use my Mac Pro dual quad system, I am now awaiting the new iMac 27, hoping that it is a true, hardcore refresh. I'm a customer immediately if it has i7 quad core, replaceable hard drive (I'll put in another Vertex 3), and the holy grail.... a glare-free screen option.

Steve really needs to take a break from releasing new products so I can get my bank account "refreshed" :eek:

Does anyone know where I can find a 10-Step program for Appleholics??!! I gotta STOP! :D

I want them to hurry and launch the site so I can watch the value of my January bought top specced iMac dive.

C'mon Apple, I got revision to do - C++ exam on Thursday!:mad:

I now use a 4 drive, triple display Mac Pro and looking forward to moving over to a 27" iMac. Thunderbolt changes everything.

Didn't say it is going away. I understand the use of high-end processors and contained units, but much of the pro-capability can now be done on lower end models expanded out with external devices. Until the last couple years, lower end computers were just too slow and annoying for much Photoshop and video editing, huge print file compilation, etc. As the years go on, the market for the Pro will squeeze tighter and smaller because of speed and capability of peripherals attached to mass-market models.
