The good side of the grass.
Could you put in a word about making the keyboard a bit bigger? It looks iPhone sized.;)

You're killing me with that megaupload site. I can't read 1/2 those "are you a real person authentications."

If it was real, Apple's lawyers would have a cease and desist sent out so fast you wouldn't know what hit you.

Second, if it's real, why not just turn on the lights, get a decent camera, and take some real pictures? If you really have easy access to this thing, why not just convince us and post some good pics?

I strongly believe this is real, but i'd like to know if there is a file manager or something like that. For example, if you download an app, where does it appear? There is no real home screen so i doubt they would appear in the dock (or perhaps there are multiple docks, like in the dashboard...).

Thank you Gonewiththewind for this video with the MacRumors post #161 in the background. So there have been 1 hour and 32 minutes between #161 and your post #165 of the video. This finally convinces me that you are showing us the real thing. And if I would be you, I definitely would NOT switch on the light and show the world the whole scenery in sharp pictures. The risk that this could identify you is far too high. And another advice: Don't respond to any mail requests in this forum. But I am sure, that you already know this.

Meh, we've seen plenty of leaks recently where that isn't the case. Enough to reasonably assume Apple's lawyers have figured out that sending such things out just acts as a confirmation it's genuine and the stuff gets mirrored over a thousand sites in twenty minutes.

They'd more likely want to continue to see more pictures at this point, because they'll be trying to find out who this is so they can go after them for beach of their NDA/employment.

Second, if it's real, why not just turn on the lights, get a decent camera, and take some real pictures? If you really have easy access to this thing, why not just convince us and post some good pics?

Because demonstrating even more who he is would be fantastically stupid?

And given it's a dev kit, would we actually gain anything by seeing anything but the screen?

landscape keyboard? im not saying this is fake, but i think it looks too much like a iphone, with the app store, and the safari buttons on the left...etc. if its real, i hope this is just a very very early prototype. and if its fake, its still an awsome fake. gotta give some credit to whoever made it if it end up not being real. i hope to see more pics/vids, and not blurry ones. maybe a screenshot?

oh, and i LOVE how windows fade in when you open them. i wish that was in leopard too

The only reason I don't think this is real is the OP seems fishy. If he can't speak english that good, how is he a devoloper? And he seems to just be making excuses as people find faws in his videos. When someone said Why he isnt showing the actual device he said it was against a wall. Now its a dev kit?
Im not believen it.
I think you've got a point there about the device and leaning it against the wall. He originally said he couldn't show us it because it was against the wall which would leave us to believe that he has some sort of hardware but now he changes his story and says that it's just a dev kit? I'm still not convinced and I think he might have got the iphone os to somehow work with a desktop or something like that.

This is my first post on Macrumors but i would just like to say i think this video is real. and i also think apple had something to do with it getting posted, and here's why:

1. The videos are everywhere. I find it hard to believe apple would let everyone show them if they didnt think the showing served a purpose. this brings me to point 2

2. Assuming this is real, these videos really help apple. They soften the ground for releasing the tablet the way it is. meaning people wont be shocked when they see it for the first time, as not only have they seen the concept of iphone apps running in small windows inside the tablet, they also have had time to like it. Most of the backlash to such an idea has been already posted as response to this so-called fake video, and now there is more room for the complements that come later (notice how Gizmodo, in a very short period of time, has already gone through both phases).

3. On one hand, people wont be surprised as to the general concept of the tablet, but on the other hand they wont be bored. these videos reveal the concept but very little else. the reason they are so short is that it leaves much to the imagination. Also, the OS in the video is obviously unfinished, leaving the "wow" factor for the announcement of the final finished version.

All these points are assuming this is real, which i do assume because the pictures/videos seem so tailored to apple's needs.

I think you make a lot of sense. I think if it's real the chances are high that it's directly from Apple PR. Otherwise GoneWithTheWind would have to change his name to GoneOffTheBalcony. :)

I think this is the real deal too, for a few reasons-

Bare in mind that this is a Development kit (think project natal for xbox 360) the whole thing may not have a polished UI and hardware, but all the guts are there. Remember that the UI (landscape keyboard, finishing up the cosmetics, is the last thing done.)

For those that scream fake - Think back to the iPhone SDK betas, remember how the ipod icon was a pixel above the others? If the iPhone SDK had not been so public, you all would of cried fake screenshot based on the pixel deviations. Also remember how the bookmarks menu in safari came up horizontal? You guys would scream FAKE had that not been so easily confirmed by the massive amounts of developers using the SDK.

It's still in development. I bet that guy is getting weekly if not daily upgrades to the system because its being developed in house. Again think back to before the original iPhone was launched (people that had the device before June 29 had weekly updates to the OS as it neared its final build).

The laggyness, the not so perfect pixels, the lack of a landscape keyboard when the notes app is up, could be just due to the Beta-ness of the software. The landscape keyboard I'm sure is there, just the final UI elements have not been fully worked out yet or implemented to everyone. I'm pretty sure he does not have the Final GM of the software - so expect the bugs you see in the videos.

I call this 98% REAL.

Is it just my imagination or does the keyboard-on-the-note portend this OS being used on larger monitors? Like iMacs and full sized monitors?

I'm going with real also.

The amount of effort to fake the screen fade-ins and the animations when sliding the apps - even for quick tests. Way too much work for a fake.

Everything else checks out (it might be a dev kit running on a tablet pc that he has propped up against a wall).

The way the apps are stretched - makes sense.

Whatever. Fake or real. I'm fine with iPhone OS for my new Apple tablet ;)

The pictures and movies might not show anything new/interesting right now, but I tell you that is just a matter of time. Yep we're going to see a lot more pictures and movies soon... and most people here will scream BS like ever before.

hmm, what I find interesting is that a lot of newly registered user's on this forum are commenting on this thread to be the real thing.

The dev thing is actually something i find quite realistic, In my opinion the OS doesn't look quite as smooth and good looking as I'd expected. The square windows is something that's bothering me because apple is obviously known for it's super slick looking operating systems. Something so close to it's rumored release date would not look as "unfinished" as this.

Hey all! If you don't feel like wading through pages and pages of forum posts just to find the videos, I've archived all the YouTube versions of Gonewiththewind's videos in this updating story. I'll be scouring the boards all day long, but feel free to shoot me a message if I happen to miss any more!

Yes, this is the video from post #164. Please note the post #161 in the bbackround visible at 0:12. I don'tbelieve that somebody can produce a fake video in that short time (1:23).
