One would hope that Apple don't release something that is for all intent and purpose an icon and theme pack and call it something revolutionary. Seems to be a lot of excitement over something that one could go to the play store and take a pick out of literally 100s. :)

Yea I hope they redesign the lock screen too. I don't just want an icon pack either. If we wanted that we could just jailbreak our phones.

iOS announcements were a bit meh, but what else is new? It's groovy news for dedicated iOS users. Control Center looks great. Activation Lock is also a nice addition to battle the rising iPhone related thefts. Still shocked there's not a single update/upgrade to the keyboard, however -- seriously.

Their Mac announcements, on the other hand, were awesome. I'm usually impressed with what they do with Macs. The Mac Pro looks ridiculously cool. And Haswell Macbooks giving 12 hours of batt. life? That's insane. I applaud Apple on their Mac front.

There's always hundreds of features they don't talk about in the keynote so maybe there are keyboard upgrades.

The new Mac Pro is the best looking piece of tech I have ever seen. I would buy it just for the looks :D:D:D But its TOO damn expensive :(

I wont buy an Air until it has high resolution screen.

I dont believe those 12 hour battery life. Always take 2 hours off and then you have a true day to day battery life.

The new iOS look is too glossy, shinny and futuristic for my taste. I bet I would hated it after a week. Too much shinny in your face.

How much are the new Mac Pros?

I envision a future Mac Mini update that borrows the same design aesthetics from the new Mac Pros. That'd be... awesome!

I dont know but probably a little bit more than the current model, which is already too expensive. Remember the new macbook pros started with a higher price tag than before, so I expect the same with the new Mac Pro considering the new technology inside and the new design.

I so so so hope the new Mini has a similar design. It would make such a cool media center next to the TV with that cube form factor :eek:

Curious about this statement. The S4 is a different shape, is finished differently, is smaller and lighter, has a larger screen with greater definition and different glass, better camera, better battery, the internals, processor etc are completely different, software wise there are a host of new features.

So what in your opinion stayed the same?

I did say to the user. No lie but seriously, if you look at both of them without touching them they do look pretty similar, except with perhaps a smaller bezel. What finished did they use on the GS4?

Yeah that's true for sure, but don't you need to be rooted anyways to use a PS3 controller? From my experience, PS3 support is pretty crap on Android devices. Probably doesn't matter since Android's have the MOGA controller to use anyways. Watching that Google Game API to be officially used, achievements and finally save files.

Root is not required for PS3 controller support. However the game has to support it. For example Dead Trigger has native controller support and its fantastic. Certain emulators don't have controller support and some do. They generally don't work as well...its all in the programming.

Edit : oops I wasn't paying attention to what page tapatalk dropped me on

There is a sort of honeycome finish on the S4 while on the S3 it is smooth. Without touching them side by side there are obvious differences, one would be able to tell straight away. The screen is larger, the phone is thinner, the metal effect band around the side is a different shape the top and bottom bezel are more uniform and the finish on the back is different. It is a completely different phone from its predecessor and could not in any way be described as an "S" upgrade. :)

Not if you have a HTC phone, kernel don't support it.

With that said what has happened? I love Apple and the way they were always willing to try something that had never been tried before.

That was rarely the case, but the Jobs Reality Distortion Field made it seem so. What Apple did and does best (usually) is take an existing product or feature & make it usable or better or just sexy.

Rarely is Apple first out of the gate on new tech. It lets other companies stumble around, sees what they are doing wrong & then refines.

Even the iPhone was a take on the Palm Treo & BB, it wasn't the first smartphone by a long shot.

But the MacBook Air redefined laptops & the new Mac Pro is certainly different & unique. I'd say Apple is still Apple. We are just so gung ho we are unreasonably impatient.

Why is it that one OS has to be better than the other? Why can't they both be good, and people stop finding things wrong with the one they don't have? I am using my iPhone 5 right now. I am really enjoying it, but I think android is a great OS and most likely in the next couple of months I will put my sim back into my nexus 4 and have fun with android again. I know I started this thread and sort of a bashing of Apple and iOS, but I have since changed my mind. Why don't we stop the bashing and respect the other OS for what it is. Yea it may not be what you like, but it works well for other people.

Yeah, the Mac Book Pro looks amazing. I also liked many of the stuff they showed for Mavericks. Finally proper support for multiple displays!

I hope it fixes the bug where the thunderbolt display doesn't detect the laptop when you connect to it. Its probably the most frustrating thing about owning the rMBP and thunderbolt display combo.

I'm excited to wirelessly use my big screen TV as a second monitor via Airplay through the AppleTV. Right now, it just mirrors what's on the iMac. Being able to do two different things at once will be useful.

I can't wait to pick one of the MBAs up....there are lot of other "under the hood" improvements made too.....

Haswell graphics, faster SSDs (45% more so apparently), dual mic's and all the goodness of Mavericks.

I think I've made the decision I'll be sticking with the iPad mini as my tablet and grabbing an MBA!

I say WWDC 13 has put Apple right back at the forefront of technology. Love it or hate it. It sure has some great stuff to offer, and I think all the updates will be huge successes.

I sincerely do not understand this sentiment. I mean that literally -- I don't understand how they could now suddenly be in the forefront with a few new features and a new [polarizing] look. That's all that was keeping them from the forefront of technology? Just quick access to settings, a new look, and full screen browsing, etc? That's all it takes? Then what's Google been doing!

Again, I'm happy for dedicated iOS users -- this is a good update for them for the most part. But just don't get this sentiment that somehow Apple is back ahead of the pack. Many of iOS' limitations still exist today.

Pretty low standards. I don't mean that offensively. You just seem easily impressed.

No I am not easily impressed. Also I am not saying they are ahead of the pack. I am saying they have brought themselves back up with the pack. They by no means put themselves ahead just back into the new age. I know they did nothing huge that will change the world, but iOS 7 does look really good and modern.

And I sincerely don't understand why people continue to purport that iOS 7 is bringing "a few new features" when the 11 they listed (some pretty major stuff) aren't even scratching the surface.....they always do this. Simply can't cover it all, not to mention things will be tweaked and added throughout the betas......

I'm sorry but while I'm not saying they are now at the forefront of technology (though I think they've always put out a great device)...aside from the color pallet (which is pretty dynamic as far as the wallpaper affecting the overall look and feel of the OS), these features are pretty killer:

(1) Control Center
(2) Gestures
(3) Intelligent Multitasking
(4) 3D Look (Parallax effect)
(5) AirDrop along with updated sharing options
(6) 1400 developer APIs (maps, games, sharing, Siri etc...)
(7) Siri improvements - access to system stuff
(8) iOS in the car - 2014, still a really cool thing
(9) iCloud keychain
(10) iTunes radio
(11) Activation Lock

Not to mention what iOS 7 will do for your battery life in its final form (will likely pair best with the new iPhone for maximum performance and savings). And I'm not really getting into the more specific stuff like single user VPN and other business crap I don't know anything about.

All great things IMO that only add to an already solid OS. The gap between Android and iOS isn't very large. Save for the screen size options, an updated keyboard and the changing of default apps - there really isn't much missing from iOS at this point.

What did Google roll out this year?

(1) Play Games
(2) Music All Access
(3) Reminders and Alarms for Google Now
(4) Dev tools and APIs

Oh ya, I forgot. You can't torrent/pirate movies on iOS. Oh well, what a piece of crap the iPhone is

You so quickly forget all the little updates that Google scatters throughout the year to Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps/Navigation, Chrome, etc., and most recently, the keyboard. It's nice not having to wait a year for [sometimes very minor] improvements.

I'm simply saying you're painting a misleading picture.

PS. I never said iOS 7 wasn't a good update. But if we're talking about being at the "forefront of technology" (the quote I was responding to) this update doesn't quite qualify. It modernizes and brings iOS up to speed; this hardly means the forefront of technology. Do people understand what "forefront" means?
