They didn’t talk about it having cellular capabilities, so I’ll say it’s a no at this point. As it gets more discrete and capable of being on battery power for more than 2 hours, maybe it’ll gain cellular functionality. It wasn’t until the Series 3 Apple Watch that cellular became an option.
Will probably be WiFi/hotspot. Guessing it’ll need pretty decent speeds

I agree in principle it would be weird to wear a headset to experience precious moments… but then I just watched a video with Ed Sheeran concert and every single person had their phone held up recording watching him through it not experiencing the event. Who’d have thought that would be a thing when the iPhone first launched.

This begs the question of the optical lenses. Are they capable of zooming/ magnifying? And if so how much can they zoom/ magnify.

The first image of the dad wearing those and filming his kids is creepy...

I'd rather enjoy the moment in real-time OR quickly snap a pic with my phone (and tuck it away)...I think the trend should be less tech in our lives rather than the complete opposite. But obviously, Apple would know better than some random person like me.
I always wonder how much of the crap people record ever gets watched again. If your concern is capturing the moment, you aren't experiencing the moment. Strange priorities some people have.

Too many people complaining about the size of Vision Pro for taking 3D photos and videos... guess they never experienced this tech fever also present in most birthdays around the world:

honestly this is the first thing I thought of when I heard Brownlee making this complaint. No one clearly lived through that era of the 80's when someone's dad strapped on a heavy pack over his shoulders and stared down the a bulky video camera at.... someone blowing out a birthday cake to keep those memories. How many people spend their time looking at something that they experiencing through their phone screen rather than being in the moment? I see it every day. I think the reaction to this being 'creepy' is weirdly overblown and strangely lacking in self-awareness.

The dads with big camcorders in the 1980s were the same...it doesn't seem that different to me.
EDIT: I see I am like the 4th person making this observation. Maybe young people have decided only phones are the acceptable distraction...

I seriously cannot, beyond pron, think of a reason to wear this thing around.
I feel like this will definitely be one of those offbeat apple things that get pushed under the rug in a few years.
It's too bulky, it's just not something that we already use and needs to be improved, ala, a watch, a phone, a TV, yes a LOT of us wear glasses but most of us are not wearing goggles unless we are in a work environment and it is to protect our eyes.

Hard no here and I really think apple has done a jump the shark moment with this.

Ed Sheeran rocked up to my workplace earlier this year (a children's hospital) and started playing in the middle of the foyer. I whipped out my phone, took a video for a few moments then just chilled out and watched him after that. Upon reviewing my video every single person in the frame had their phones out and were recording it. At which point you have to say to yourself - yep, I was just as much part of that too.
We we not living in the moment? People seem to have this view that tech is taking away from that authentic first up experience. But I can sit back now and look at that again and grasp far more about the moment than I did at the time. You take from the moment what you need. I think people need to calm their judgmental attitudes and perhaps not get some upset about how other people are experiencing things and what their priorities are. I popped my videos up on social media within minutes and others were able to enjoy a piece of that moment. A doctor I work with popped a photo he took of them moment online too, and it suddenly became front page news across the news sites.

Press had access to look not touch. A few media were given opportunities to try out. One reason for scarcity is that the software is probably not finished and debugged.
Based on YouTube it looks like nearly a 100 people tried it out.

Would be nice to be able to snap such pics and videos without putting it on one's face. You know, use like a regular camera or camcorder. But, it does so many other things so who cares.

Do we know yet what format is needed for the 3d photos or video? Are there other ways to capture these images other than using the vision pro? How about something like an Osmo? I think the 3d stuff is where the demand is going to be.

I wonder if they haven’t decided the storage size/options yet. I haven’t seen the storage capacity mentioned yet. That seems kind of important if you’re going to be recording 3D videos.

I had that. The camera weighed 10 pounds and the portable VCR weighed 22 pounds.
Yes! My dad had one, and basically all my uncles. I'm not justifying bulk for Apple Vision, but I think that historically, at least a large "dad" percentage won't mind being uncomfortable or being labeled as dorky as long as loving memories are preserved in new, high quality formats. Now add interactive 3D post-shooting... mind blown.

No one will notice people with a giant freaking headset? You're dreaming here. This isn't people getting used to the appearance of AirPods with their long stems. This is giant freaking isolating headset. There is no amount of time that will make people OK with that.

The only thing time will do is reduce this product to a pair of glasses, that will finally be acceptable to wear around other people.
Who got used the long stems? I haven’t.

I suspect that's being shown because the Vision was being shown. I wouldn't be surprised if this feature shows up in iPhone very shortly.
I will be gobsmacked if it doesn’t. Being the device to view all the 3D photos and videos you take with an iPhone will be a selling point for this device, a device which could be said to lack obvious use-cases so needs as many as it can get.

I did a very very quick mockup of an iPhone with steroscopic camers:

Imagine how this can save marriages where the couple has been married for decades and the bedroom has become boring.

Would like to see what the actual prototype looks like as these promo images and video are just mockups / CGI.

They never showed an actual physical unit at WWDC or have anyone wearing one "on-stage"
Um, they brought people in to demo the hardware all day yesterday. It works and looks as described already. The announcement not having a live demo was super lame, but don't let that fool you into thinking this was a mockup. They've built these already. Probably will have a few changes before launch still, but the delay is almost certainly mostly Software related, it's hard to develop totally new software for a device that doesn't exist yet, rather than hardware related.
