Apple Vision Pro Now Available for Pre-Order

I thought it was pretty cool when I woke up today, 10 minutes before this went live. I usually let my body wake me up a bit later, since I've retired from my "day job". I haven't been planning on ordering, but LOL it's kinda nice to see that the old Apple enthusiast in me is back! Ordered one 256GB and one 512GB. Surprised how seamless the whole experience was.

Ordered as well and then decided to go back into the store to view the accessories. There were 2 I didn’t see in the initial order that are in the accessories, the dual loop band for $99 and the light seal cushion for $29. I had to review my original order to view the my size “W”. Several of the reviews that were initially released shared that the Vision pro was heavy at times or uncomfortable, so it made sense to be a little more prudent about the purchase. Everything for the most part appears to deliver by Feb 2nd.
 
I’ve got a big head. I know because I wear big medium to large hats. I’m pretty sure the face scan didn’t give me the right sized bands 🥴. To prevent delay I just trusted the measurement and hit buy. Here’s hoping the process to replace them is easy at the store.
…. just tried the re-ordering process on my iPad and now it says im a medium. Well that’s great…. 😑

I really wish they’d have just SAID that earlier, would have saved me getting up at 5am only to close the app disappointed. They knew it before and unlike specs or full pricing it wouldn’t have taken anything away from launch to just say what they actually meant by “most”, which is “Zeiss optical inserts do not support prescriptions with prism”.

Gotta admit, my prism correction is small enough I’m tempted to get an eye check to see how hard I have to work to keep things in focus without it—probably could put up with it for the amount of time I’ll be using the thing.

I ended up skipping the inserts, to expedite checkout, and figured I’d just tackle those later. Do you mind if I ask what part of your prescription got rejected? Some level of astigmatism?

I ended up with small. I do not have a small head. My goard is so big my parents literally took me to the pediatrician as a kid to check if I was normal. I hope the return or reorder process is good.

I was in and out pretty quickly, but when I first hit the pay button it said payment failed.

The reason was that in the few seconds since I chose my pickup time, all the appointments up to 1:30 had been filled. I chose 2:30 (because I pick up my kids from school at 1:30), and I was good to go.

I got the 512gb model with AppleCare, monthly payments.

I looked at the case, but I can wait to see if there's anything aftermarket for less. Or I can keep it in an Olive Garden sack. If that's good enough for my dad's ashes, it's good enough for Apple Vision Pro.

We'll see how that goes. If it's as limited as they say, it won't surprise me to see some price gouging on Ebay. Time will tell, but I'm going to enjoy trying these out with my wife and kids with the two I got. Can't wait :)

I figured out why. I added Apple care for $25 a month. I took that off and it allowed me to use the cards. Bought a second one LOL
 
Got mine in. 1TB. It’s 12 payments on Apple Card, not 24 like people have been claiming.

I got 21W as well. I after I ordered I went to the light seal and did the scan again twice. Got 23W and 21W again. I’m guessing there will be a lot of light seal exchanges.

I chose pickup. It may be that they have extra bands so that you can trade them out for a better fit.

Or it may not be. But I think Apple wants this to go well for the people who just spent $4000 on a product they haven't seen in person.
 
Does the VP come with a standard set of cushions because all i am seeing across threads is people talking about scanning their face is so they can get a 'fitted' light seal. The reason I ask is because if a person's face needs to be scanned, won't this deter scalpers because they will need to use the app to scan a face, or again, does the VP come with a standard cushion set?
 
Couldn’t scan my face. When I tried to turn my head left the app simply forgot it other angles and would start over. =(

Oh, and by the time I could skipping that, all local pickup options ran out of supply.
 
They’re selling out is my guess. I tried the fitter a few times and after the first time it was saying delivery in mid February and pickup unavailable for 256gb but the 512 was still available for pickup.

I am assuming Apple are looking for local pickup so they can get their trained VP specialist to insert the light seal and cushions prior to the customers arrival and then get the customer to try on the VP to see if the seal they ordered fits correctly.

Ordered mine. Can pickup on Feb 3.

Not happy with Apple... they refused the Military discount at checkout even though the rest of the process says they would apply the 10%. They also screwed by disallowing you to use your Apple balance if you were ordering in the app - I had to switch to a desktop and start the process over, which moved me from a Feb 2 pickup to a Feb 3 in Los Angeles.
