Unfortunately, aren't allowing discounts for teachers, students, government, military...
Yeah...extremely disappointed in that. ID.me login and you flop[ to the store and it takes you to the Vision promo page, and you never see there is no discount until checkout. Very disappointed in Apple.

couldn't use my apple gift cards that I asked for Christmas for in preparation for the AVP.... bought the 512 GB anyways.
I had the same problem with the iPhone. I had to switch to a desktop and start the process over again in order to play a lot of the gift card balance. Why their own app refused to be applies I have no idea.

Mine was because of the AppleCare subscription

Hmm they don’t support eye prescription for people with a cylinder in their lens/eye? Guess that will keep me from ordering when it arrives in EU.

I’ve got a big head. I know because I wear big medium to large hats. I’m pretty sure the face scan didn’t give me the right sized bands 🥴. To prevent delay I just trusted the measurement and hit buy. Here’s hoping the process to replace them is easy at the store.
…. just tried the re-ordering process on my iPad and now it says im a medium. Well that’s great…. 😑
I am with you here... I do not trust a Medium conclusion from the fit... so I am hoping they have some replacements when I go to pick it up.

I ended up skipping the inserts, to expedite checkout, and figured I’d just tackle those later. Do you mind if I ask what part of your prescription got rejected? Some level of astigmatism?
I said it in the first sentence you quoted: prism.

I tried answering differently and that’s the only blocker; “does not currently support certain vision conditions” means “does not support prescriptions that include prism”. Everything else is available unless they reject prescriptions after upload (which I doubt, otherwise they’d ask if you had correction above XXX or whatever).

Friday, January 19, 7:43AM, there were 964 listings on eBay for the Vision Pro, with prices up to $10,000.00 for a Buy It Now on one listing for the 512GB model.
Doesn’t make sense to me after the selling fees of eBay. $4500 = $700 in fees at least.

I never saw anything but February 8 arrival for the shipping options as of 5:01a so I just went with it, oh well! I can wait a few more days I think 😂 additional bands due to a in between size/weird face scan, possibly are coming on the second as well as my beautiful case. Lol.

Where did you see that? The questions section only asks about prism, not cylinder, as a thing it doesn’t support.

Here’s the Zeiss page where you can check a specific prescription:

It says that my prescription would be supported without prism, and that includes cylinder and axis, and the ordering questionaire doesn’t mention anything about astigmatism either.

It's not available for pick up, and thanks to the completely useless folks on the store phone support, I now am receiving mine shipped in early March because there's no alternative. In spite of calling in at 8 am. So that's f&%*#*ing awesome.

I read the FAQ and this is good to know: ZEISS Optical Inserts may be reimbursable under FSA or HSA. Please check with your FSA/HSA plan administrator.

Yep, as I feared—optical inserts support “most” prescriptions means no Vision Pro for me or anyone else with prism in their glasses, which also includes my SO.

Oh well.

I really wish they’d have just SAID that earlier, would have saved me getting up at 5am only to close the app disappointed. They knew it before and unlike specs or full pricing it wouldn’t have taken anything away from launch to just say what they actually meant by “most”, which is “Zeiss optical inserts do not support prescriptions with prism”.

Gotta admit, my prism correction is small enough I’m tempted to get an eye check to see how hard I have to work to keep things in focus without it—probably could put up with it for the amount of time I’ll be using the thing.
Prism could be corrected in software by shifting the images. If only a software update or 3rd party app would support it.
(Potentially, it might even be possible to develop software that trains your eyes/brain to do more of their own prism correction)
Software could also adjust the rotation of images, which can’t be done with lenses, which could be a boon to people with optical myasthenia gravis.

Lol its still not sold out

RIP scalpers
Well darn. What's a guy to do if he just bought it to make serious profit? I guess they will just cancel their order and leave more store inventory for the regular buyers who actually want to keep it and use it.

I think there are some for sale on ebay if you want it shipped on Feb 2nd.

If anyone is curious, I had a chat with Apple Store support since my face scan showed multiple results after many scans (21W, 23W, 33W). They said a light seal exchange would be free and it's best to go into an Apple Store at that point, to get the correct fit.

We ordered two (had to be separate orders for whatever reason), one 512GB the other 1TB + Applecare for each and travel cases, put it on the debit card I didn't want to apply for an Apple CC. My wife gets the 512GB one. Delivery is 2/8, can't wait!
