None of the reviews brought up the missing complication situation so I’m guessing that means they have inside information that this would be fixed soon.

Indeed, a weird decision on their part. My guess: Apple wanted people's initial use of these faces to be about displaying as much information as much as possible (maybe as a way to show off what it's capable of when other people see it), rather than having half of the complications filled with static app icons.

(if that is their reasoning I think it's a bit silly, because I know a lot of people love using complications as convenient app launchers, and I've seen a number of people complaining online about not being able to have Messages and Home on there)

Then why omit stopwatch from modular infograph specifically but allow it on regular infograph. It’s not static (it shows elapsed chrono time) but really weird they allow it on one new face bot not the other.

That was my hope but seems nothing new in 5.1 beta.

Part of being an apple early adopter is waiting for obvious features to be added, they tend to prefer nothing and then awesome later.

Plus software is always later and harder than the plan.

I love using the Podcast app, but don't really understand why there is no complication on the info graph faces... come on Apple!

Yeah. I understand old complications from third party apps don’t work on the new faces. The new faces have different dimensions so the complications need a re design.

What really surprises me Apple didn’t port their own complications over to the new faces at all in some cases, and they did port them but inconsistently in other cases (some work on only infograph modular and some work on only infograph).

It’s not like apple doesn’t have the staff or the money or the time to port them. So omitting them from some faces seems almost like a purposeful choice by apple. But it just makes no sense.

It makes zero sense. It's a shame. I was really looking forward to the new faces, but they're useless to me without being able to see the information I want to see or access the complications I want to access. More complication spots doesn't really mean much if it means only having extra complications I don't want to see!

It looked to me like the clue is in the name and the intention was for only informational complications to be present, and shortcut ones to be left out, but of course a select few shortcut ones have been left in without any particularly apparent reason:

- Breathe (doesn’t animate when meditating as leaving the Breathe app kills the session)
- Heart Rate (which imho should really be showing data at this point)
- Music (doesn’t show any now playing data AFAICT, I don’t have bluetooth headphones so can only test using iPhone music)
- Walkie Talkie (not sure if this animates as I haven’t tried it yet)
- Workout (which does animate when you’re working out, which is nice but slightly pointless as you’ve also got the little green notification shortcut at the top at the same time)
- Shazam (yes it’s third party but not for long, doesn’t appear to animate)

^ I started this list with Workout after thinking it might just be the shortcuts that could animate... but that’s clearly not the case, so i really don’t know what Apple’s reasoning is. Perhaps it’s roughly just watch-exclusive apps and not phone apps (the exception being Music)?

Personally I’m not too fussed about shortcut complications as I only really like informational ones - if I want to get to an app I use the side button or crown. Some of my *actual* minor gripes for the current faces/complications are:

- I’d like the updated corner complications to come to the old faces such as Utility and Simple, ideally retaining the option of the old ones to keep everyone happy.
- I miss the option to choose a monotone colour on the new modular face like the old one, though of course some of the complications like UVI and Earth would go a bit weird.
- I’d like more background colours in the Infograph face in line with Chronograph - they teased us with the white one (not a fan) but I like the dark blue one - in fact a more full crossover between info/chronograph would be quite cool (second hand subdial complication next to other subdials etc).

One thing I’ve just noticed about the old style complications is that for medium (e.g. bottom of the Utility face) and large (modular) there is the option for both Music and Now Playing - the former is just a shortcut and the latter is self explanatory but is also a shortcut - have both always been there and is there really any point in having the former?

Was the workout complication for the new faces on the original OS5? I thought it may have been new for 5.0.1? I read somewhere (maybe this thread) they wanted to do something more creative than have big icons (even though the workout complication is like a big icon). Hope there is a solution coming soon.

Nope it was there in 5.0.0, did my post above yours just before updating.

The new faces are pretty much useless to me. Cannot use hardly any complications.
[doublepost=1538391715][/doublepost]I submitted feedback as well. Also, their drop down menu doesn't allow you to pick Apple Watch software 5, just 4.XX.

I feel the same way about the new faces. What's the point in having more complications if it's information I don't need? And the complications I do need can't be put on the watch face? I hope that an update comes sooner rather than later.

It’s stunning to me that the infograph analog face does not have more face color options. Just black, white, with color accents for the dial when toggled black. They could put those other missing complications in there while having them convey info (e.g. podcast icon with a dynamic progress bar). Strange choices that Apple made.

Generally, I love the Apple Watch. However, it is full of strange limitations and quirks.

I’m also finding that 3rd party complications like weather aren’t updating at all on the new faces - I need to click through to the app and wait for them to update anyway. Very annoying.

That’s the same with the top left compilation which come as default with the Infograph watch face. The Moon compilation shows the times but does not update unless you either swipe to another face then swipe back or hard press to customise then quickly return back.
Why include it as a ‘default’ compilation if it does not work correctly/fully?

I wish the analogue hands would go 80% transparent when superimposed on the apps on the dial. I can’t see jack!!!

I wish one could make the analogue hands disappear completely! And the ring as well! I would then put the digital time in the top spot in the middle and would have 7 more spots for nice, clearly visible at all times complications.

Hi, I cannot have the full color face, only the circular one. Any idea why? Thanks!
The full color one works for me on my S4 running 5.1.
However, when I use the circular color face, the complcations are visible, but I cannot tap on them to open up their apps.
