Yeah. Didn't realize how dependent I was on having the messages complication on the watch face until after it was gone... Hopefully Apple has intentions on adding the missing ones to the new watch faces.

I had setup as a "new watch" and noticed that many of the complications I use gone from the new Infographic faces. So I did a wipe and do a restore from the old series 3. With the restore my old watch faces came over (I use modular most the time). I submitted feedback so maybe they will add these missing complications back as an option for the Infographic faces.

Not only are some complications missing, some are LESS usable in the new watch faces. My Crypto Pro complication will display bitcoins full price in the old modular face with the small complication. With the new faces, it can only show the first 2 digits. So instead of 6676, I only see 66.

Hi all,

I just received my AW4 an I have lots of complications missing on new watch faces... such as WeatherPro for instance. When I select previous faces they are showing up.

Did I miss something? Is that a bug????

Thanks
X

You did not miss anything. Key complications are missing. It looks like we are waiting for WatchOS 5.0.1... I spoke to a senior Apple technical support rep this weekend (22Sept2018) and he did not know the answer so he went off to speak to engineering and get back to me. He just got back to me by email today and these are his exact words: "I did get a response back from the engineers, and they told me that they are aware of some of the built-in complications not working with the new faces. As such, a fix will come out as a software update." If you want to inject some urgency, go to this Apple page and offer some "encouragement" to get the patch with the missing complications out quickly:

The lack of available complications on the new faces has me seriously considering returning my Series 4. I’m using all of my old modular faces.

I didn’t care about all the health stuff, I just wanted more info.

The real puzzler is many of the missing complications are Apple apps.

yes! I can understand developers not having updated their app complications yet. But for Apple to not have Messages, Mail, Phone, and other common stock complications available for use on their new watch faces is ridiculous IMO.

I’m missing the Nike run+ complication. It was always nice to have the running total miles run so far on the face.

Ridiculous that I have to use my old watchface on my new watch

I was looking forward to thinking it was all the ones you could get on the normal watch faces.

Was looking forward to podcast app icon along with the sports score app I use...surely can't be hard to get them on there?

I'm using the infograph one currently but may just go back to the standard one...even the siri watch face I don't get anything else on there from OS4...no sport scores.

The alarm is the last complication I use before going to bed and thus the first complication I use in the morning. How in the world can Apple not include this as an available complication on the new watch? They need to fix this asap? It is one of their own complications, not a third party one.

So I just got my first Apple Watch (series 4). I've activated Infograph watch face. I don't see the complications that were shown in all the demos and I've seen on youtube videos. There's no UVI or weather (temp). When I go to "Complications" on my watch app (iPhone), I see I've added Dark Sky, accuweather, The Weather, but don't seem to be able to install any of those complications.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

When you go to edit the watch face, they should be in the list. I am using weather and was using UV on the new Infograph.

No - they're not. A bunch of complications that I believe should be there, are not. For example, I"m trying to upload the upper left complication (shown circled) in the Infograph -
Off, Activity, Alarm, Battery, Breath, Heart Rate, Calendar, Moon, Music, Pedometer++, Reminders, Stopwatch, Sunrise/Sunset, Timer, Walkie-Talkie, Workout, World Clock - no others.

I also have complications installed from apps - dark sky, and a few other weather apps - none of them show as available.

The new Infograph and Infograph Modular faces use new complication sizes/types and apps have to be specifically updated by their developers to support them. Developers didn't find out about the new sizes and complications APIs until the Series 4 was announced, so many (like Overcast, Dark Sky, etc) haven't had time to update their apps to support them yet. It's not just 5 minutes work to add support - for many developers it could be quite a bit of work, especially for the large Infograph Modular rectangular complication.

As for the normal weather temperature and UVI complications, they should be showing up assuming you have Apple's Weather app installed on your iPhone and Watch.

Some devs at Apple must not have found out about the new sizes and complications APIs either since there is no complications for common apps like Mail, Phone, and Messages to name a few. But hey, we have a complication for Wind... so next time I am out flying my kite I am sure it will come in handy!

Indeed, a weird decision on their part. My guess: Apple wanted people's initial use of these faces to be about displaying as much information as much as possible (maybe as a way to show off what it's capable of when other people see it), rather than having half of the complications filled with static app icons.

(if that is their reasoning I think it's a bit silly, because I know a lot of people love using complications as convenient app launchers, and I've seen a number of people complaining online about not being able to have Messages and Home on there)

I don't know what to tell you. UVI and temp are both on my Infographic face.

Anyway to get the phone short cut on the infograph watch faces?
I can only get the favorites on those - no way to get phone on any of those 9 different spots? Seems pretty lame.
