What's the verdict on the best current Space Gray adapter?

I think the ones I got on Amazon are pretty bad A. Stouch is the brand. Got them yesterday and other than being glossy space grey, they fit perfect and look very good! I'll post pics later

is 42mm SS. Adapter looks just as photo. Very good quality to my eye.
Perfect fit and much nicer looking than the Apple copies with those tiny screws that will strip or fall out depending on the Locktite used.Spring pins make changing straps easy and most important....reliable.[/QUOTE]

I just received mine, the silver that uses the pins from the guy from Utica. Unfortunately there was a problem with the adapters I received. Put my 24mm Hadley Roma leather band on the adapter with the pins. The mechanism did lock ok, but the adapter was very wobbly inside the channel. Both ends moved around too easy. You could see a gap on both ends. The band was shifting to easy. The other bands I have, don't have that problem. I have the Apple leather loop and I bought on Amazon a leather Kollea band with included adapter. This adapter was a perfect fit, and no movement. I just think a got a faulty pair. I already wrote the guy in Utica to let him know about the problem. I will see what happens.

I ordered mine from him and the lugs fit really nicely. This may sound stupid but did you make sure to install the lugs in the proper direction? They will install right side up or upside down. Same thing for Apple lugs on their Classic band for example. When they are incorrectly installed they will slide from side to side. Try it again and let us know if that helped. I really think the adapter is probably OK. Look at the adapter and see which direction the little middle button protrudes above the surface. The correct way is for it to be pointing up (same direction as watch face) as you slide it in. Think flat middle button down, raised side up.

BTW when you are installing your adapter into the watch base, insert it as far as the middle button and then depress the button with your finger and continue to slide. It should take stress off that spring loaded button under the middle cover so that it doesn't pop off.

Are you talking the 3 black button or the 2 black and silver in the middle. The 3 black go on top, the 2 black and middle silver go on bottom. I actually tried both ways and had another 3rd party band that came with and Adapter, that looked the same except doesn't have the the pins. I put in in the same was as the other adapter and also look on line for direction. I think I just got a bad set. Also it click in place with no problem. The problem was it wobbled with the band on and moved to much. You could see a gap. It is like the mold was off and it was too thin. I guess I can put it back together and take a picture so you can see. I won't be able to do until tomorrow. Movie night with family. Then you can see the problem.

From your video you say that the quality is the same across the board on eBay. Is that really the case?
It's just my opinion and assumption. I am not a tech guru so please don't take my comments seriously lol

Simply judging by the pics shown here on the boards I'm gonna say that's nowhere close to true.
I've seen adapters with sharp, visible mold lines, and supposedly CNC-machined adapters with no mold lines. Adapters that weren't flush with the case and adapters that fit perfectly. Adapters with cheap painted-on finishes and adapters with even anodized looking finishes. In that video review he says that his are anodized but as he keeps turning the adapter you can see where the black has already come away in places revealing the shiny silver underneath.
There's no doubt that many of the eBay sellers are buying from the same factory but I don't believe that all of the adapters are coming out of only one factory.

Mine from Amazon will be here tomorrow. Purchased from Stouch I believe
I bought those last Friday - hesitant because there were 0 reviews for these guys at the time, first time I had an option to have it delivered the same day. (Ordered at 9am, they arrived from Virginia to my home outside of Philadelphia by 3:45pm - pretty darn amazing.)

Anyway, they work well. They are polished steel, the photos looks like the adapters are worn out, or brushed. They are not. I'm happy with them though!

EDIT **...And be very VERY careful installing them, they are easy to install. The screws are just extremely tiny. Get a white cloth, maybe a towel and put the adapters together over that. In case a screw falls, it will simply land on the white towel - easy to see and not bounce potentially ending up on the floor. The screw driver that comes with this is magnetic so the screw helps a little stay in the screwdrivers Phillips head but it's not perfect.

What size band did you out on the adapters? Still shopping and haven't measured my lugs

I found a nice 24mm leather band. 24mm fit perfectly with the 42mm adapters.
- My black link steel band from Amazon should be here tomorrow, those have 42mm adapters. I THINK those adapters can be removed so that will work out well since I have the Space Gray Sports

I have the 38mm. What's your guess on 24mm or 22mm for bands? I'm assuming smaller adapter means smaller bands?!

Yes. I have a 42mm watch not a 38mm, but if you look at the lugs that this popular ebay seller of Apple watch lugs has on his website, the 38mm watches would take 20mm watch bands on a spring pin (3rd photo). My 42mm watch uses 24mm bands on the spring pin and it fits perfectly. Check out the photos on his ebay page showing the measuring tool for each size lug. Many people here have bought from him and are happy with the quality of what he is selling. There's another thread dedicated specifically to lugs purchased from him on this forum area. Here's his ebay page for the photos:

I quoted PhillyGuy because we have the same adapters. Thanks for your response though. I'm not interested in buying any other brand.

38mm adapter takes 22mm bands, 42mm adapter takes 24mm bands

just installed this 22mm on my 38mm watch .

I have 3 adapters now, 2 silvers and 1 black and I can tell you they are all DIFFERENT. So they are def more than 1 factory produce these. The black one I have is the best quality so far. The 2 small rubber bits on the side of the latch (that moves up and down) are the same size as the latch and very solid. Comparing to the silver ones which have slight smaller rubber bits and some of them come out of the adapter pretty easy.

The guy from the video probably didnt take a look at the adapters carefully. You can tell the quality different between those. And im not talking about consistency here (some fits perfectly and some wiggle quite a bit too much). I'm talking about slightly different dimensions of parts and quality of the materials

Waiting for the Gun metal colour to come, hopefully with the quality same as the black.

total noob question but what kind of bands fit with a 38 mm adapter? 22 mm bands? my 3rd party band came with an adapter and the band seems a bit too thin imo so id like to buy one thats about as wide as the sports band more or less. thx!

edit: oh my i really am an idiot. scrolled pages for an answer except the comment above mine

guys i want to bring something to your attention. previously, i showed a picture of my adapters i got from eBay. it appeared one wasn't fitting right and was very wobbly (pulling out) and sticking out on the sides. i now have them installed with a 2 piece zulu strap and they indeed fit perfectly. i think this was my error, as i think i put it in upside down. they need to be installed with the metal middle button facing down (to properly lock into the corresponding hole in the watch body). the reason my previous attempt was wobbly and pushing out was because the middle rubber piece on the adapter was attempting to grab into the hole. so instead of clicking in, it was squashed in. for anyone who has a shady fitting adapter, not seating right, flip it over. there indeed is a correct way to install these. i emailed the seller on eBay letting them know it was my mistake, even though they shipped me a replacement. the ones i bought from inkoo888 on eBay indeed fit well and cheaper than all the other ones on eBay.

I got my adaptors from the guy in NJ.. who is really in China... I got them there as it was the only place for black/gray ones i could find. The fit though is not what I feel is secure. They are installed correctly but have quite a bit of wobble. Both sides are like this.

hahah i was like, wth, i just told the guy above me that. And then someone asked exactly the same question hahaha.

@dictoresno: yeah, the bare metal bits need to be the same side as the push button on the watch. Easy to remember once you figured out how it works.

But still, some adapters doesnt fit properly, the quality is gettting better as far as i can see

are you sure they are in right? once i found my issue (same adapters, same seller), they fit fine.
