At least the iPhone 13 automatically updated before installing the backup. But it was pretty seemless.
Don't see why the watch wouldn't do the same.

I ordered a SS 45mm Graphite in the afternoon of Oct 8 for In-Store Pickup this Friday Oct 15. I checked nearly every combination and it appears that only the Graphite SS with Abyss Blue Sport Band was available at nearly all stores. Just checked now and a few stores in Ontario still showing Available Oct 15.
I just checked and this combo is also available at several NYC Apple stores for Oct 15 pickup.

in the past, the band you ordered with your AW was stuck together and the band cannot be swapped out unless you returned the entire thing… i really hope they changed this policy
Yes this was my understanding, so I have been surprised to see so many saying its fine to trade in. Hope they changed it as well as it was such a dumb rule. Although I can understand the issue it could cause with inventory tracking, its just frustrating and not very helpful for the customer.

Interesting to hear all this, I just assumed it would murder battery life and turned it straight off. Never even tried it.
Clearly I shouldn't just dismiss it - I'll try it from friday, and see what I think.
I would never go back as well. I have a 3 month old series 6 and with the AOD I have never run out of battery, and I am a heavy watch user.

It's possible that the earlier page is a stale page that Apple didn't take down. For clarity, I'm not saying that is a fact in this case, only saying that it is possible. I have run into that a few times, which is super-odd for a big tech company. There are pages you can find with Google that are not as far as I could tell actually linked to any page that's currently on their store website.

Because of trouble I was having with Apple Pay on my series 6 running 8.1 Beta 3 I unpaired and re-paired my series 6 last night. When I re-paired I did NOT see a recent backup and had to set up as new. Very odd. I seem to remember that happening in the series 0 and 1 days but nIt recently.

I keep seeing this in the thread so I’m watching the 2 stores in CLT with no luck. I searched Boston and NYC stores out of curiosity and some are there.

Is Apple Watch Series 7 showing up in EPP store ? I thought it takes sometime to show
No discount but it does show up. Some ‘exclusive’ strap combos too.

EPP only usually does discounts once supply isn’t constrained.

Replying to self: looks like you have to return the watch and band then re-buy (is that a word?) the watch and new strap...there's another post that explains that something that comes from the "Your Style" section is bundled as a single SKU, so you (meaning me) probably can't break up the set, and if they don't have the watch you wanted in stock at the store, your choices are probably keep the watch with the strap you wanted to return/exchange, or return both but then basically go back to the end of the line waiting for the combination you wanted to become available. There's a good thread on this here.

I was wondering about the ability to return or exchange a strap that came as part of a watch/strap combo ordered under the "Your Style" section. In other words, a combination that's not on the store site as a regular configuration. (Example: the SS watches that are currently being sold for delivery on Friday with sport bands, which is not a regular configuration.)

It looks like if you purchased online (as we all did, that's the only way to purchase a watch before launch day) you probably won't be able to get the store to accept a "return" on the bundled band and exchange it for one you like better. But there's no penalty for asking. ;)
The operating model is absolutely crackers for this. I had a problem with an Apple Watch band that has lost a metal lug and when I rang support, they told me I had to ship the whole lot back to them including the watch!!! They presumed at the time that the band that I was reporting as having an issue was the band that came with the watch. Apparently that is what you have to do if you have a fault with a band because the watch and the band are considered to be one unit

Good morning & happy taco Tuesday!

I just woke up. Currently it is 6:31PM. Las Vegas, Nevada. Congratulations to those who are out of China. Looks like you were headed to Japan. Majority of the people will see tracking being updated today. Since there’s only 3 days left till you receive your Apple Watch. This week is flying and going by so fast. I hope everyone is going to have a good day. Stay blessed!

I don’t think they have the supply. Hopefully overtime it will be updated but I bet you it’s going to take over a month or so :(
Certainly someone in apple had to make some interesting decisions - it seems they may have split up the combinations for different regions. The titanium models in the UK are only the braided strap or the leather loop ones. No metal choices, no solo/sport...

It starts to explain the confusion on this thread at times, particularly around delivery dates a few minutes after preorder appeared.

Something tells me this thread is going to be active for at least the next month...

Yeah! The thread will be active for a long time since Apple Watch is being shipping on different times. I just think the supply is very low and Apple is doing its best to make the AW for everyone. We’re just going to have to wait.
