I can't see myself choosing black for the Ultra, i think it looks better as it is, but i can defenitly see the apeal. But is it a black surface coating prone to scratching?
Also what is a MKBHD Edition?

I'm a bit concerned that seeing as this is supposed to be a device for the outdoorsy types, the color just won't hold up. I mean, titanium is scratch prone all by itself.
Right now I'm rocking a stainless steel model, and all I have to do for it to look like new is polish it off with a Cape cod cloth every once in a while.
The standard titanium model just seems more practical, but then again, how many of these really actually see the great outdoors?

Previously the AW Ti model came in space black with DLC coating - extremely scratch resistant

My thinking was new cpu + thinner watch = smaller battery with the same battery life. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Careful what you are wishing for. If Apple makes the Apple Watch Ultra Thinner we may not be blessed with the same amount of battery life we are getting.

You might have missed my earlier post. Apple would only ever make the Ultra thinner if they can keep battery life (at least) the same.

Actually Ti by itself is not scratch prone at all, plenty posts about scratches on the Ultra here.
As is said in my other post, SB DLC coating that was offered on the Ti AWs before is extremely scratch resistant

Every cellular AW ever release had/has the red ring on the dial, that’s not going away just for you…
Not even if I ask nicely?

I honestly did not know this. I have a WiFi version of the Series 7 in midnight and love the clean one color design. I would also like this in the Ultra. I guess my gripe is more with the orange button, but I'm also just not a fan of orange.

You could always send an email to Tim Cook and ask ;)
In daily use the action button is not really visible, so you don’t see it much… but I can appreciate that you and others are bothered by it

Lovely! Just exactly what I needed. Instant buy!!!

I don't care if I already have Apple Watch Ultra. I'm upgrading to this one!

Update! I just checked my Apple Watch Ultra battery health and still at 100% 🔋 💪. Yup! Still upgrading this year!

If you’re at 100% and going for the darker titanium, then I guess I am too! 🤣

If, and it is a big IF, Apple were to get the battery life up to a week on the Ultra, I would maybe…perhaps…quite possibly, buy one in the black titanium. But it’s going to be tough to retire my Garmin Epix 2 and its 2 week battery life, especially when Garmin just released the new version that has 30+ days of battery life. I’ve been fine with giving up my cellular connection on the watch in order to give me the freedom to not have to think about charging it daily, and I also much prefer the round form factor of the Epix 2 compared to the rectangular Ultra.

So you’re asking Apple to quadruple the battery life in the Ultra, not going to happen.

The second-generation Apple Watch Ultra will be available with a black titanium case, according to a previously-accurate leaker known as ShrimpApplePro. The new Ultra will also remain available in its existing "Natural" titanium finish, the leaker said.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman recently said Apple tested a darker titanium finish for the current Ultra, but decided not to release it at the time. He said it was "theoretically" possible the finish could be released for the new model this year. Previously, the high-end Edition model of the Apple Watch Series 7 was available with a Space Black titanium case.

Another new feature expected for the Ultra is a faster S9 chip, which Gurman said is based on the A15 Bionic chip first used in iPhone 13 models.

The second-generation Apple Watch Ultra is expected to be announced in September alongside the Apple Watch Series 9, which is rumored to be available in pink.

Released in September 2022, the Apple Watch Ultra is a larger and more rugged version of the Apple Watch designed for hiking, extreme water sports, diving, and other outdoor activities. It is priced at $799 in the United States.

Was not enamoured with natural titanium colour, so thought I’d wait. Will buy one when dark titanium casing manifests, if rumour is true.

I would feel elated if instead of orange they used a same-color design. I never liked the red crown on the standard model when buying cellular editions. I quit wearing these all together, but I would wear one on my ankle if I could find the right ankle strap. I like it only for notifications when I am driving, using the maps app. I turn off every other notification. The second use case I like is tracking my steps. Therefore, sell another $99 strap that goes around the ankle and have a software setting for it. It would truly bring Apple more money and make those of us who wear a traditional watch a method to track these things as we wish.

Nope just got my AW Ultra this spring and I like current color with my third party matching titanium band

the person was only stating their preference, because it was pertinent to the article written.

your response was almost deliberately antagonistic simply to go "i like different from you."

This is the only way!

You are going to love it. The black titanium goes hard tho. I loved my Apple Watch S7 Black Titanium. It also matches very well with other AW bands. 💫
