Honestly more color choices cant hurt. If the Apple Ultra came out in a stainless steel version, then you have my interest but with its current form factor and color choices, it just doesn’t appeal to me. It’s a great watch, honestly probably the best version of the current Apple watches with battery life as a man factor.

The second-generation Apple Watch Ultra will be available with a black titanium case, according to a previously-accurate leaker known as ShrimpApplePro. The new Ultra will also remain available in its existing "Natural" titanium finish, the leaker said.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman recently said Apple tested a darker titanium finish for the current Ultra, but decided not to release it at the time. He said it was "theoretically" possible the finish could be released for the new model this year. Previously, the high-end Edition model of the Apple Watch Series 7 was available with a Space Black titanium case.

Another new feature expected for the Ultra is a faster S9 chip, which Gurman said is based on the A15 Bionic chip first used in iPhone 13 models.

The second-generation Apple Watch Ultra is expected to be announced in September alongside the Apple Watch Series 9, which is rumored to be available in pink.

Released in September 2022, the Apple Watch Ultra is a larger and more rugged version of the Apple Watch designed for hiking, extreme water sports, diving, and other outdoor activities. It is priced at $799 in the United States.

Why is no one talking about the fact we need an ocean band in alpine orange / burnt orange….

I have Apple Watch Series 7 Nike and it's scary how it becomes part of me everyday. I wear it indoor, outdoor, in office, at gym, for all the notifications, exercises, listen to music, and best of all to pay for anything here including public transport. Seeing how it is now more important than iPhone, I am seriously considering Ultra instead of getting 15 Pro Max - if only it had smaller size 41mm instead of 44mm.

Anyone else hoping Apple will release a much simpler version of Apple Watch with basic steps and heart rate functionality that has decent battery life?

I think it’s embarrassing that companies like Garmin, Fitbit, Xiaomi and Withings offer watches with battery life of several weeks or even months and Apple Watch can’t even do 24 hours. I don’t need a lot of apps. I want to read the time, notifications, and track my health stats.

If these companies can do it, surely Apple can.

I see no reason not to buy a Xiaomi Mi Band 8 over an Apple Watch. Also works with Apple health, also shows notifications, and it lasts for TWO WEEKS.

Or, does anyone have ONE good reason?

Have you tried doing the same smartwatch stuff AW can do with Garmin, Fitbit, Xiaomi and Withings? It's a reduced functionality device, but the trade off from reduced functionality, processing power, and inferior screen, is battery life. That's the choice that you get to make. I'm not knocking those devices, but it doesn't seem that they're really in the same class when it comes to smartwatch capabilities. I do agree, more battery life would be better.

I know it’s a different class device, of course. Apple Watch does a lot. But, maybe it does a bit too much?

I mean: do you really need to send messages from your watch? Or download apps for it? Is it actually nice to pick up calls from your watch in stead of your phone…?

I mean, sure, some people want that. But I think Apple took some years to even figure out what the Watch’s main use case was. They found out it’s health tracking. That’s now all they advertise with.

Maybe it’s time to make a watch that does just that, does it really well, and does nothing else. Because then it might actually last long (and be thinner).

Something like sleep tracking is impossible now because of both the battery life and the bulky size of the current versions.

Idk. Just hoping for something that will probably not happen.

But I think it would be a cool choice, a bold decision, to make a device that doesn’t try to be everything at once, but excel at one thing.

A smart watch that is not smart watch? I don't know. Maybe Apple can release a Sport Watch with battery that last several months, but that's not their core bossiness. They are computer company which means they put chip in their products. At least your have Garmin for that.

I've sent messages from my watch. Not often, but I've used it on occasion.

I do not have any third party apps downloaded, but if the right app was out there I might.

It does sleep tracking, that's actually one of the advertised features and was updated in a recent WatchOS update. It's still not super, but it's far better than it was.

I don't think Apple is in the "one feature" game. A phone that can only make phone calls. Nope. A watch that only does the time. Nope.

Fitbit has a limited product set in exchange for longer battery life. As does Garmin.

I agree that it's a bit of "jack of all trades and master of none", but arguably it is a master at being a smartwatch.

I wholeheartedly agree though, more battery life would be killer. I hope with the new chip we get that.

what are you doing to your watch that it has already dropped in percentage? I charge my watch ultra at 50% every day and had it since the launch date. I am at 100% battery health

It could be the frequent workouts? I run 5-6 times per week with a minimum of 30min per run, max 60min. I also cycle too, not as frequently but minimum 1 hour ride and a few 3 hour rides. Mix in some strength training and outdoor walks, maybe this is the recipe for 3% battery since release day?

Sheesh.. I just got an ultra. What kind of new features could they do to make me want to trade mine in?

None if you are already happy with your Ultra. Congratulations for new watch, I am so jealous. I am still holding back to get one because it looks ridiculously huge on my wrist.
