I don't know which thread to post this in. But I have an S6 SS Graphite. Thinking of upgrading this year. But I don't know which one to go with. I think the SS would be the way to go, but I also like the second speaker option on the Ultra. Even tho the Ultra is overkill for most people.

Also ordered the Ultra w/ Trail Loop with an October 20-27 delivery. Went back and saw the Green Alpine Loop had a September 23rd delivery date, so I ordered it too. Will more than likely cancel the Trail loop if the shipping date doesn't change. Looks great and I am excited for a larger Apple Watch with some ruggedness! I am hoping that case is as durable as my Space Gray Titanium Series 5 has been. Not a scratch after heavy use!
This is exactly what I did. Was going to cancel the Trail Loop, but now may just wait the extra month and cancel the Green Alpine Loop. May get lucky and it will ship sooner.

I was gonna order thinking it had a bigger screen but in reality it doesn’t it’s just the bezel and case so will look much worse than series 7/8 and they are identical, they should of given the series 8 the higher brightness

Honestly at $799 for a titanium cell model, I ordered. I had an old series 6 gold model I got $125 value out of. I think this nicely segments the Apple Watch line

- Aluminum models (I have series 7) - good basic apple watches
- Stainless steel / Hermes - for those that want some polish
- Ultra - more rugged looking

I used to do the stainless steel but I use automatic watches for that now

EDIT - I just got the alpine starlight band. I may add orange later. I will also add a leather strap from the AW8 line for the watch as well.

The screen on the ultra isn’t much bigger it’s mostly bigger bezels and casing I ordered it to see but gonna stick with my series 7, they should of have the series 8 at least the brighter screen
It’s much bigger. 1.9 vs 1.99 inches, a 7% increase. That’s noticeable instantly.

No it isn’t look on apple comparison it’s tiny numbers you thinking of the bezel included the actual screen display is just a tiny bit bigger

I think it will give us one extra "row" of information or widgets. (Depending on app) a big win IMO.

It won’t it’s about the same screen size as 45mm with extra thick bezels and casing

The workout app looked to me like it had one more row of numbers, but I guess we have to wait till the 23rd to see first hand.

It’s a big shame I was so hyped for a bigger display but it just isn’t, look at what apple said on the compare page

Fair enough that’s weird. Everyone is reporting the 1.9 to 1.99 jump but the apple page makes it look smaller. It must be the bezels somehow despite not looking larger than the s8 bezels. Interesting.

It could be that the series 7 and 8 are curved so the screen goes into the sides and with the flat one it will look bigger even tho it’s the same etc but I think the bezels make the display look worse on the ultra

Ordered this morning, midnight ocean. Coming from an AW5 44mm and an ~6.5” wrist.

The size of this thing along with the “hump” reminds me of my old Panerai.

Ordered. My mom has my Series 3, so I was looking for something else. This seems to be nice to use on the trails/woods when 4-wheeling!

I ordered the same one!

I was really disappointed that apple discontinued the "edition" series as I have a AW6 natural Ti and love the look.

You hit on a great few points and at $799 that's less than what I paid for my AW6, I just don't know how much I will like the bulkier watch. But I am a avid mountain biker and don't go anywhere without my watch.

I have a 155mm wrist.

Would you get a small green alpine loop (130-160mm wrist)
Or the medium (145-190mm wrist)?

I like getting the smallest band possible usually because you don’t have as much strap to wind around to secure. I’d imagine if you used the small size the hook would be well on the underside where you won’t see it bulge, but if you use the medium it would be more toward the side of your wrist?
