Pretty disappointed that UPS failed to deliver the watch today. Been tracking it since it shipped from China and it got all the way to Goodyear, AZ and then just stopped. Hasn’t moved since yesterday evening at 10pm. First time ever that I didn’t get an Apple product delivered on the date specified.

Similar here, waited all day like a kid waiting for a new toy. Been ordering Apple products for launch days for years and never had this happen. Says delivers Monday now which I don’t think is fair considering it’s their mistake, they should deliver tomorrow.

Oh man, I hope I’m not bumped to Monday as well. I agree that these should get put on the truck for Saturday delivery, even if Apple didn’t pay for weekend delivery. UPS screwed this up.

When you say that the lugs don't fit, do you mean they aren't wide enough to be flush with the sides of the Ultra, or it is incompatible? From the pic, it looks like it doesn't curve with the body like it might with the smaller watches.
Awesome post, btw :D
That’s weird my braided loop fits exactly like does on my SS 45.

Crazy, I ordered a couple days after the announcement on Amazon. Got a notification early in the week it would be delivered 10/5. Yesterday, I got an update that said would be delivered tomorrow 9/25! Luckily, I didn't just cancel my order.

First impressions:

Stunning looks. No one does industrial design as well as Apple.

The display panel looks really good, better than my S7. The resolution seems higher and the colors more vibrant. Maybe the panel is better, or it's an illusion caused by the flat crystal, or...?

Really like the Wayfarer face but it can be crowded if you use all the complications. I removed three of them.

Functionality is nice (though basically completely untested personally today!).

Some negatives, too:

The 49mm size is not a problem in terms of its two-dimensional size, but the third dimension is surprising. This watch is really tall. Possibly enough to be really inconvenient. I have two weeks to decide.

The Alpine strap is a nutty design that's hard to get on and off. Just give me my Nike bands and loops...by the way, the blue loop is really good looking with the titanium case, as several other said.

The metal loops that slide into the slots on the Watch, on the other hand, are really nice pieces of metalwork. If the Alpine band isn't returnable (see question below), I might be tempted to see if I can put them to use with a different strap. (Yes, I probably do dislike the Alpine strap that much.)

Oddly, I couldn't get my Nike sport bands to fit. The Nike loops are fine. It seems like the strap ends are too large for the slots in the Ultra case. Pretty odd, not sure why.

Does anyone know how (or if) Apple will handle returns of straps purchased with the Watch? Some years they've been returnable, other years not. I'd like to return the Alpine strap and just use the bands I've got, but I'm guessing that might not work.

UPS came at noon for me. Shocked the hell out of me. I was getting dressed to sign for it and he left it at the door, knocked, and walked away.

‘Same here. Knocked once and ran back to his truck. He did take an image of it at my front door.

Is it this one? I saw it at Costco for like $120.
Nah, I got the one that just for the watch. I'm always a little hesitant with third party stuff, even if Apple likes it enough to sell in their stores. But this seems to be working well so far.

It really is a wow product.

The Ultra is yet another defining product in apple's history.

Owned one since the Series 0.

It is integral to my life. I feel naked without one.
That’s how you start feeling after owning an Apple Watches. My first Apple Watch was Series 2. Man, I’ve been upgrading back to back consecutively. Just can’t live without it and you feel naked if you don’t have one on. It’s hard to explain.

Hi all, I picked up my Apple Watch Ultra yesterday around 12:30pm, drove straight to my carrier to get the cellular activated and it’s safe to say after having it for almost a day I’m glad I made the choice for the ultra. I’m also glad I bought other bands to go with it because I know I would get that white band super dirty super quick.
The band on in the pic is the XL Midnight Sport Loop

Which band did it come with? Wondering what the store selection on day one was like and what apple shipped to stores.

This 3-in-1 Wireless Charger features MagSafe magnetic alignment technology, with
15W fast charging for your iPhone 12, Airpods, & Apple Watch. Shop now.

I have owned this one since day one. It's the older model so it does not fast charge. But its next to my bed and since I have my old and new watches and the iPhone 14 now, I can get away with one watch charging while the other is in use and the 14 last all day long.

It's very nice looking and quality build. $$$ though. for what it does.

Ok, ok, ok….I think I’m off the ledge, haha!!

I‘m warming up to the Alpine band. I’ve got the movement down to quickly and easily hook it on, and also remove it quickly without the Ti hook slamming into the watch. I also found the right loop for a great fit.

We’ll see!!

ETA: I’ve had every AW since S0 (upgrade every year), and the S5 to S7 were Ti.

This is EASILY the best AW of the bunch!! I just love the look, the flat screen, the brightness, the size. And I’m a HUGE Ti fan. Just love the metal. So I’m loving this, haha!!

Very nice! How are you liking the White Ocean Band?
Well I actually kept is sealed and just went with the Midnight Sport Loop I picked up as the same time as the Watch, mainly because it’s an XL Watch band and fits my wrist perfectly, I also picked up a Storm Blue Sport Loop as well but haven’t tried it yet. I kept the White Ocean Band sealed as I’m afraid I’m gonna get it dirty very quickly, I’m gonna need to look into other options for workouts as well so I may need to look into other bands as well

Ok…so I WASN’T off the Alpine edge after all, haha!!

Went back and forth and back and forth. Finally realized that if I’m fighting it this much, time to jump ship.

Found a AWU with midnight Ocean for pickup near my house. Heading there in an hour!!

Oh the things these Apple gadgets make us do, haha!!

Here it is with a Tangerine sport loop. Looks great IMHO.
