I'm just disappointed by the lack of a SD slot.

Rather then putting movies/music on the internal drive, I'd much prefer to hot swap movies that are on SD cards:(

Apple would never put and SD slot on the iPhone what would be the point of buying a 4gb if someone could just slot an SD Card in an 8gb SD card (There is such thing) and get 12gbs?

I don't know why anyone would think it doesn't have a Sim slot. When you buy the phone, you have take your sim card (which stores your number) and place it somewhere in the iPhone.

It's common sense.

Not all phones have SIM cards.
My Treo 650 does not. ;)

Indeed, I'm fearing the worst for the battery life. Probably like the N95 of 8800 Nokias.

wifi is a real battery drain, everyone knows that, dont think apple could do anything about that.

what i hope is that it is easy to turn wifi off when not needed - i'm sure clicking on the status icon for it will bring up a drop down list like on real os x.

with wifi off, the only other big drain is that HUGE screen! i can live with that cuz it will b beautiful!

So, what is realistic to expect? 2 hours? 3 hours? I'm not impressed.

I don't think it was meant to be impressive, just adequate. I have a v3 and I'm lucky to get 4 hours out of it. I understand the new ones do about 6 and a half so 5 seems reasonable to me also.

That is the proto type case picture. There will be a SIM slot because that is how Cingular rolls.
I don't know about you guys, but I am not taking this phone off-roading, camping, boating, etc. So I will need to pull the SIM out and stick it in a cheap phone.

I'm thinking so too. I think keeping around my RAZR will be great for taking it places I would not be comfortable taking my iPhone. I'm sure over time this will change, but it's like the new car thing. You park in the back of the parking lot for a few months, but after a while you get tired and park with everyone else.

I thought Steve put that rumor to rest at Macworld?

THANK YOU. I wish people would at least bother to research or pay attention before talking out of their asses.

• System requirements

- Mac: Mac with a USB 2.0 port, Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later
- PC: Windows PC with a USB 2.0 port and Windows XP Home or Professional (Service Pack 2)

So it doesn't work with Vista? You have to use XP?

Haha. Good luck man. She'll give, because after all, who can't, just gaze at its elegant screen and youll get lost in its beauty.

She may give, but I hope she doesn't at this point. I mean I hope she gives into the idea that it's something to consider.

It's obviously amazing and yet it may still suck. We have to wait. The keyboard may suck. Having ATT may suck. The data plan may be too expensive. Edge may significantly hinder the experience. We may find out that 3g is on the way soon, thus making it worth waiting a few months more. VZW may release a worthy killer. Etc.

I guess, for me, there are still too many unknowns. If I had a wife I'd hope that she'd have come to a similar conclusion. I'd hope she'd be pleading for restraint rather than encouraging, or accepting, blind faith spending.

With everything we don't know yet the impressions of this first wave of customers could be anything from complete nirvana and the welcoming of a step forward in mobile experience to eating several hundred dollars, lengthy rants on MR and elsewhere about the level of suckage and what a complete let down it is, to riots in front of retail stores where people sing songs and smash their phones on the ground.

In theory any SIM card put into a GSM phone will work as a phone. What does not work across carriers is things like email, Web, MMS, and in the case of iPhone one would assume Visual Voicemail.

So if your a Tmobile player, and you someone get your hands on an iPhone, sure you can use it as a phone and an iPod, but the phone will be crippled until someone figures out a true "unlock" which I say will be unlikely.

my 2 cents...

It doesnt work like that. Once I had a locked phone (biiig mistake:rolleyes: ) and everytime you put SIm from another carrier phone just couldnt connect to any network.

"Apparently more information has been leaked about the iPhone, and they've found that it has a new button, a Power / Lock." iPhone alley

i thought this was on screen? i never recall seeing that button in any pics?

Yes thats why they are saying its a new button for power and locking, can you read what you just typed?

I love vibrate, but doesn't it use up a lot of battery power? Could that be a reason Apple would leave it out?
Every single phone on the market has vibrate. I WILL have vibrate. I can't imagine it not having vibrate. And no vibrate doesn't use any battery unless it's constantly vibrating. If you want that there are other, more suitable, products for sale ;)

My contract ends in September. Let me say it's going to be a hard summer knowing that I'll have to wait for the iPhone. :p

I can't wait to see this baby in person. June 29 here we come. :D

The only question I care about at this point...can you just straight up buy the thing and take care of your contract at a later time or do you have to sign up when you buy it?

SIM tray means you are able to exchange SIM cards. Now I wonder how long until someone crack it to work with different providers. Week?? Two weeks???

I hope that someone hacks it to work with Sprint.

Either way.... were is the real rumors... I think this post qualifies as a fact on a rumors site. Sounds a bit "wrong" if you ask me.

You and many millions are still hoping for that?

Sorry man... that is not how Cingular and Apple Cellular work.
