IMO 13 (12S?) series will be exactly like the XS series : an "S" year, improves on some good stuff but overall upgrades are the bare minimum, incremental and boring (SoC, camera upgrades are a given every single year).

It will be the perfect upgrade for iPhone X or older - but it will be a deceptive upgrade for more recent models except for apple fanboys or big photo smartphone enthusiasts

There is only 2 good things : 120 Hz Promotion and reduced notch. But these two are due for a long moment let's be honest and on top of that, 120Hz is Pro exclusive while it's not at all that expansive to put, we see plenty of mid range Android with 120Hz LTPO these days...

Apple add stuff at a slower rate to milk as much as possible $$ from its userbase and saving some stuff to sell a maximum of new iphone in the long run (doing all they really can on an incoming iPhone is nonsense for them ofc from a business perspective).

So yes it's better but very boring.
iPhone 12 was better for its time at launch (OLED on all models, new design, 5G, modem/calls way better for those is low coverage 4G areas) and iPhone X is still the best iPhone for its launch time IMO.

I mean I would like to see what’s new. But not getting a new one. I’ll be more excited for the following year when my 2 year cycle is due.

I won't be upgrading my 12 Pro Max, I'm waiting on the 14 Pro (no Max).
really excited about the Apple Watch 7 though...

I will only be very excited for the next iPhone with a major redesign. The current design is already hitting it's limits - the camera arrangement has to go diagonal to fit in the bump that wouldn't interfere with MagSafe accessories.

The next redesign would most likely include periscope lens and probably no notch, under-screen TouchID etc.

Beyond excited. I think this is the best iPhone Apple will introduce.
And we’re gonna love it!

Now, seriously, this has grown from being a boring 12S update, with minor improvements over the iPhone 12, to being a whole new iPhone with lots of tweaks in all areas -hopefully-. Cameras, antennas, screen, new and improved Face ID, bigger battery... Almost every aspect of the phone has been improved. I’d even dare to say this iteration is more disruptive than the previous one, where they just implemented a new design for the phone, and a SoC with double the Neural Engine cores.

I’ve already decided it: If the new Face ID is capable of unlocking the device with a FaceMask without any issues, I’m in for the update to the last compact iPhone, the iPhone 13 mini. If the new Face ID is more of the same technology and I need to enter the code a hundred times during the day (or buy an Apple Watch), I’ll probably wait to the next iPhone SE.

No as I still have a 6S.
New iPhones like the 13 aren't aimed at customers like you and I. You know: The sane ones?

My wife and I also had iPhone 6S' up until the SE (2020) came out. The only reason we upgraded was to get T-Mobile Band 71 (600MHz) support, which hasn't turned out to be all that great, so far, anyway.

Another iPhone that will be able to make phone calls via satellite and no signal around
As I noted in the thread discussing that: ICBW, but I think that highly unlikely.

not excited anything apple. iOS15 needs to be walked back. apple get $0 into the future unless this happens. they lost me for Apple TV, iPhone, computer, iCloud and their services. and I'm sad as hell about it. I wish they were too. next up, my family leaving apple. walk back apple, walk back

i desperately need a new phone ( X is near unusable these days ) so I’ll be buying a 13 Pro…

however that isn’t any kind of a ringing endorsement of my expectations for 13 vs 12.

I am excited to downsize from MAX size to regular size, everything else is an icing on the cake ( I am currently using 11 Pro Max) and don't really care.
I’m also downsizing from the 11 Pro Max to the pro size this time. Getting tired of the big screen size phones.

I did that last year with a 12 pro and whilst I don’t regret it I will be going back to the pro max this year. I just really miss that big screen size
Yeah I like to switch it up every two years. Before the 11 pro Max was the iPhone X which was a smaller size phone.

If it has everything that’s rumored it sounds like a significant upgrade. 120hz, satellite calling, AOD, a new black color and the usual camera and chip revisions would probably make it a buy for me.

I was when it was rumored to sacrifice form for a larger battery. That rumor stopped showing up though so I have lost all hope.

Same boring stuff as every year since the iPhone X. Of course they're going to claim it has so much more power and the camera is much better, which is done by another algorithm that is processing the image and not showing what the photo should actual look like and of course it will still be lightyears inferior to any proper DSLR/mirrorless with proper lenses. In other words, same procedure as every year, nothing to see these are not the droids innovations you're looking for. Move along!

To give them a little credit - there's only so much that can be done with a smartphone and the current phones are hitting the limit.
Even Jony Ive was quoted as saying (something to these words) "(sometimes) I'd show up to work and be horrified because I wouldn't have a single idea as to what to do next" (or something to that effect).
