I am. I'm interested in the new variety we have in sizing now and how they will shrink the notch. I'm not gonna upgrade until probably 2021 tho.

Shrinking the notch doesn’t resolve anything. It’s still their. Now, I don’t have a problem with the notch one way or the other, but until the internal components inside the notch can miniaturize enough, there’s _zero_ reason to ‘shrink it’.

And This is a pointed at you, but I’m still amazed that the only observations (Or complaints) I’ve ever heard about the notch, have been on this site and never from anyone in the real world.

True, I guess it just depends on what circle you're around. I've seen/heard ppl say they're not upgrading until the notch is gone. Some ppl care about it some ppl don't.

I love my 11, but I’m likely going pro max with the next phone. In fact, I almost got an 11 pro max a couple weeks ago and gave my son my 11, but decided against it because I wanted my upgrade to be available at release time.

Looking forward to seeing what the changes are.

LOL

Look at all these salty 11 Pro owners pretending like they're not excited...we know you are excited because you just bought a beefed up iPhone X. iPhone 12 is going to have a different chassis and material overall. Maybe another camera lens, promotion, way more RAM, and yea a totally different re-design.

I was waiting for the 12 and skipped this year's roided iPhone X. Sigh why can't people just be honest. Human nature I guess. Enjoy your iPhone X.

What exactly do you think the 12 will be? The days of revolutionary smartphone designs are gone. The 12 will be extremely similar to the X design. Different chassis? Lol please. Making the sides flat instead of rounded isn’t that different.

Prepare to be disappointed.

"Extremely excited?" Errr, well, not really. I've only had my current 11 Pro since early October and the new iPhones won't even be released until September of 2020! Plenty of time yet to get excited as we hear more rumors, see potential mockups, etc, etc., and eventually get closer and closer to September 2020. Right now I'm happy with what I've got (LOVE my beautiful green iPhone 11 Pro!) and, well, sure, am mildly interested in what is to come in the future, but realistically there's loads of time ahead of us yet......
Yea, I'll just be meh again until the keynote, then I'll get excited if there are cool features coming.

Because it works in only one position. That’s one thing the Pixel 4 does better with facial recognition is it unlocks whether the device is upside down or sideways. They really need to have it unlock regardless of the device position.
Yea hopefully landscape FaceID and an even wider scan range. I really didn't notice a much bigger range when they said it released. At least not for successes. It might detect something at a bigger range, but it pretty much 100% fails unless I am in the range it worked in before.

Yes, I'm on iPhone 7 and I'm waiting for the next year's iPhone to upgrade.

Even though 5G might still be cooking, its good to have it a phone with 5G already. Its a win win situation for me. Also, I hope the Pro Motion which I love on the iPad to be on the new iPhone.

I expect wider camera on the 12 to be better, maybe a wider aperture?

The only ones that are excited are the ones that are on their next “personal” upgrade cycle.

Some upgrade every year but most upgrade every other year or more.

I’ll be more excited when the screen is a full display with no notch and 5G is readily available.

Coming from an 11 Pro Max a smaller notch and sparse 5G areas for me aren’t enough for me to upgrade.

I am upgrading my wife from her XR to 12 and she is happy for the better camera and the OLED screen will be a huge upgrade for those that don’t pay for or want Pro models.

Yeah I reckon the 2020 iPhone is gong to be milled from a billet of gravitas. Ive’s mic drop.

After seeing the report about keeping the notch yesterday, no. If they get rid of the notch, yes. If they make the notch smaller, kind of.

I have to admit having just visited Beijing and having a 5G demonstration by Huawaii, if Huawaii become supported again here in the west then my next phone after my 11 pro could well be Chinese, and not one manufactured in China for Apple.

If the rumors hold true, I guess I'm most excited about the new 5.4" model! I like the idea of a smaller, edge-to-edge phone. The X/XS/11 Pro is just slightly too large at times. Especially at the gym, or when running or biking.

Then again I've been spoilt by the display size, so it remains to be seen if the trade off is worth it.

I'm personally SUPER stocked about any Apple event, but the next year's September keynote I hope will be huge.

I watch other brands' events too like Samsung, Huawei, OnePlus, Microsoft and etc but they can't be compared to what an Apple event feels like, even if I'm not there in real life.

Yes I am definitely stoked for the announcements, but just meh about the devices until things are officially announced.

Why they should skipped 11s and no one asked about it ? (twitter, forums, reddit)
I'm just curious.

Sorry if this is off topic or a bit of a downer, I'm just going to answer the thread's question as a matter of fact. With due respect, none of the features listed by the OP have any direct improvement on my life. They are all just spec improvements. In the grand scheme, phones now are improving incrementally and reached a saturation point.

Things that would cause me to be extremely excited would be something like triple increase the battery life, ie. 15hrs screen on time. Or having MacOS built into the phone. How about super loud speakers like the Asus ROG 2? Open up iOS a little so we can have better web browsers with more features. Otherwise I'm quite content with my iPhone 8 Plus for the next 2 years.

The notch and lack of Touch ID are the most annoying complaints on here. Most in the real world don’t care. Notch especially is a nonissue.

The ONLY REASON I would upgrade is for the camera. The iPhone 11 Pro Max (which I have) is fantastic and it was designed for photographers anyway. Most of the population upgrades to the new iPhone every year to keep up with the joneses and show that they have updated their device, Also to keep Apple wealthy. And a month or so later the newness wears off and we begin talking about the next iPhone like we read here.
How many of you that have the iPhone 11 Pro even know how to use the camera properly? How about video? My point is I guess most iPhone owners use their phone for Facebook, instagram, email, and take a photo here and there and most are just snap shots, nothing professional looking. I have a lot of apps on my iPhone that I don’t use but still keep. Since the iPhone 11 Pro / max was focused on being tailored to photographers and videographers, I find it difficult to find new friends to go shoot photos with because most people I talk to don’t use the camera much.... REALLY?

so... what do you all use the newest iPhone for? Does upgrading every year really help you, or is it a fad thing?

‘Most of the population’ don’t upgrade every year though, that’s completely false what you say there. That trend died quite a few years ago now and is the reason so many people are keeping phones longer than 2 years and sim only contracts have become so popular. It’s become a big problem for retailers and carriers as they’ve seen a drop of up to 25% in annual upgrades which is magnified by the fact not everybody is on the same year upgrade cycle.

Don’t assume the enthusiasm you see here on Mac Rumors is representative of the real world where most people aren’t phone enthusiasts. The only people I personally know who upgrade every year and love phones are online on places like this.
