For me, currently using a 13 Pro Max, the most compelling thing so far about the 15 Pro Max is yesterday's rumor about more battery. But I don't think that's enough to make me spring for it. We'll see when September gets here if there's anything that makes it more desirable.

Until something happens to my iPhone 11 Pro Max (what a mouthful), I will probably not upgrade it. There is just not much of a compelling reason to upgrade my phone anymore compared to the days when every new model was a huge improvement. I must be getting old too, because I feel that switching over to a new phone is more work than it's worth having to wait for it to download the backup, re-install everything, wait for all the messages and apps and accounts to sync, re-enter passwords that for some reason didn't save, re-authenticate random things, erase the old phone... it's tiring.

After 5 good years with my XR, I feel there are finally enough cumulative improvements to upgrade. No one particular feature that compels me to do it. Just want something new. Although longer battery life would be worth it.

Is upgrading from the 14+ to the 15 Pro a dumb thing to do? I've been thinking about it recently (I bought the 14+ last year and wouldn't mind having the dynamic island or the 120 Hz. I do like the 14+ but if the trade value is good is upgrading worth it?

It’s really up to your personal preference. You’ll get a nice stack of quality of life improvements, but you’re also trading screen size and probably battery life if those are important to you. 120hz is a must have for me, but some people don’t notice a difference. This might be a thing where you need to wait for trade in values and maybe use a 14-day return window to see if the upgrade is worth it to you.

the photos will be great, and I find the text are more clear on the pro, not sure why..

From all that we know, realistically I should stay put on the 14 Pro and skip the 15 lineup in its entirety. However, the phone enthusiast in me loves the yearly upgrades, regardless if it is a small or big upgrade cycle. Upgrading yearly is something that makes me happy and if it's anything like years past, I can sell my current phone for a good amount of money and offset a large percentage of the cost of the new phone. So, long story short, should I upgrade? Probably not. Will I upgrade, most likely.

What do you mean 14 day return window. Is that like renting the phone out to try it and then returning it if you don't like it? I've mostly done trade ins with third party companies, but since I bought the 14+ at the apple store, I think if I do this, it probably needs to also be at the apple store.

If you buy an iPhone from the Apple Store, you have a 14 day window to return the iPhone if you change your mind. There are no charges and they don't care what the reasoning as, as long as the phone isn't damaged or anything.

So, theoretically, you could buy the 15 Pro, see if you like it. If you do, you can do your 14 Plus trade-in after that. If you don't you can just return it so long as you're in that 14 day window.

I had the iphone 11 pro max and loved it. It replaced my dslr as my main camera. But then I shattered the front & back screen twice while installing solar panels on roofs this Summer. My job gave me a corporate iphone 14 plus. But I will definitely be upgrading my personal iPhone to the 15 Pro Max when it comes out.

I started looking to replace a 2012 handheld camcorder, a Panasonic V700M. Then I started seeing many Utube videos by camera/video/photography professionals. They were near unanimous that the iPhone 14 Pro/Max cameras, both still and video, are absolutely incredible.

They were comparing iPhone 14 Pro versus frame cameras with expensive lenses, costing thousands (and even tens of thousands) of dollars. Long story short, the iPhone 14 Pro camera and tech more than holds its own against dedicated video and photography equipment costing 10x, even 20x, as much.

Those reviews sealed it. If I decide to upgrade the handheld camcorder, to heck with it, I'm simply going to upgrade the iPhone 12 mini to the iPhone 15 Pro (and the 12 mini camera/video already is very good). After seeing all the reviews, I don't think I'll ever again purchase a standalone frame camera, or video recorder.

As an aside, I'm pretty sure that this isn't a new policy, nor is it specific to only iPhones; I used their return policy years ago to return a Mac Mini to my local Apple Retail Store, and they accepted the return no questions asked -- though, my reason for that particular return was that I had realized what I really wanted was the higher-end model of the same product. So, Apple's return policy worked very much to their advantage -- and mine -- in that instance. That was way back in 2012, for reference.

I feel like that used to be true but the last two iPhones were practically free with trade in through carriers so now that doesn't hold as much water.
I guess if you keep up to date you'll get a good trade in. I'm on the iPhone 11, which Apple says will trade in for £170. So not saving a huge amount. It's common to get iPhones for £0 up front in the UK when paying over 3 years.

I plan on joining the iPhone Upgrade Program and upgrading from the 14 Pro Max to the 15 Pro.

I thought I would never upgrade from my 13PM, but then … the appeal of a shiny new phone with no micro scratches on the display, so clean, an always-on display … Yes, that was the tipping point: the desire for an Apple always-on display. So cool. I love it! Pulled the trigger and I’m satisfied, placated. Will I switch to an iPhone 15? Don’t know. Maybe. Let’s see what it has to seduce me. Couldn’t care less about USB-C. All I can think of at the moment is titanium. But, absent an exponential increase in processing power/speed or battery life, at the moment, I’m very into my iPhone 14 ProMax.

I’m tempted but I’m just not sure I will. I’m happy with my 14PM and I don’t care about usbc. Realistically I will want the shiny new toy but I really don’t need it. The camera is always the biggest draw for me but having 6x zoom isn’t a huge factor for me, I’ve never been in a situation where I wish I had that zoom capability. Financially I should stay right where I’m at because my current phone meets all my needs just fine, but we’ll see.

Going for iPhone 15 Pro Max undecided on the colour Last upgrade till iPhone 17 too many iPhones
Still have my iPhone 11 Pro,iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro Max

Ever since the 11, I have reverted back to the days when we had the S models . I always got the opposite year model and I’ll just get a 14.

Even though they no longer use the S name, I still feel like iPhone upgrades when you have the current line are only worthy every other year. 12 to 14 is an upgrade vs 12 to 13.
