Probably he means the difference between Pro and Pro Max
I do to me the two classes of model should feature the same specs just in different form factors. The Pro should have the same cameras as the Pro Max.

Yeah, that’s how I took it. I hated it when they did it with the 12 pro versus the pro max and hate it now. I’ve heard that it will be changing with the 16 pro, though, and it should be getting the periscope camera also, even if it is rumored to get slightly bigger in order to accommodate that feature. Rocking the 13 pro still (used to upgrade every year, but this is such a great phone, there was no point) at 93% battery capacity, and I bought it the day after launch in September 2021. The main two reasons I upgraded to this model when it came out is for the macro photography and the pro-motion. Dynamic island and always on display is cool and all, but not worth upgrading for, in my opinion. Give me a periscope camera on the smaller pro and then I’ll do it.Probably he means the difference between Pro and Pro Max
Acknowledging that we are still working exclusively from rumors until it's officially announced in about three weeks... you can probably get most of the info that you want from the iPhone 15 Roundup page.Maybe. Is there an article yet that compares 15+ to 15 Pro Max/Ultra yet?
They always had. 2 years ago it was pay 70-100 to upgrade to similar model: 12mini-13mini, 12pm-13pm and so on through bestbuy.lol, I had to call T-Mobile today because of an issue with my data, and at the end of the call the guy said the iPhone 15 is coming in September and they'll have trade in deals and stuff like that. I doubt he actually has any info and he's just following rumors like the rest of us, but I find it funny he said that.
He was really helpful though, I have to say, T-Mobile's customer service is top notch.
Very nicely summed up!I know it’s early to ask this question, but I am interested to see what everyone is planning on so far. Some people upgrade every year, some people might be holding on to a much older iPhone but are holding out to finally upgrade this generation, or maybe there’s a specific feature some people have been waiting on.
Rumored features (some may be Pro-only):
On the other end, iPhone upgrades have never been so incremental, and it’s financially and environmentally smarter to hold on to your perfectly functioning iPhone now.
- USB-C
- Action button replacing mute switch
- Periscope camera lens (5-6x zoom) on Pro Max model
- A17 - First 3nm Apple chip
- 6GB RAM, possibly 8GB on higher storage models
- WiFi 6E
- Qualcomm X70 modem
- Titanium frame with more rounded edges
- Slightly smaller body with same screen size
- Smallest bezels of any phone
- Red or blue color
- Higher price
- Qi2 wireless charging standard
- Dynamic Island on all devices
- Increased battery life
- Bigger battery sizes
- More efficient LiDAR scanner
- More efficient display driver
- A17 Chip - up to 30% more efficient (already listed above)
- Qualcomm X70 - more efficient (already listed above)
So, as of right now, are you planning on upgrading to the iPhone 15 series? Why or why not?
Edited 8/14/2023 due to updated rumors.
I usually upgrade every year but this year am planning to stick with my 14 Pro Max. The improvements are getting smaller and smaller every year and common sense tells me stick with my perfectly fine 14PM for another year. I probably shouldn't have upgraded from last years 13PM.
I typically don’t upgrade very often. In fact, I waited until the 12 mini before I upgraded from my iPhone 6!
But the 15 is an interesting offering with USB. As is the 3nm chip (although I think that’s just for the Pro and Max versions). I‘m not sure if Apple will position this as a major ‘generational’ upgrade that truly is night and day from the 14. I do like the almost bezel free aesthetic. And a significant bump in battery life might make me upgrade.
Also, do we know if the 15 is the last in this form factor, or do we have another year?
I too was contemplating not upgrading to the 15PM, but I decided to upgrade and trade my 14PM in. I’ll have 14 days to make a decision if I’ll keep the 15PM or return it for a refund. Next year I will 100% upgrading to the 16PM.Yeah, the Apple fanboy in me wants to upgrade, but my responsible adult side is like "You don't need it with a pristine 14 pro max right in your hand". Not on an upgrade plan and buy my phones outright. Plus from the rumors I have been reading the only improvements that interest me coming from a 14 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max/ Ultra would be USB-C and the slight camera upgrade with 6X zoom.
But honestly, I don't use my iPhone as my primary camera (it's my secondary camera) I wouldn't get much use out of the 6X zoom except for the times I travel or I am at a concert, etc. I only occasionally use the 48-megapixel camera I have now on the 14 Pro Max. I sometimes forget I can take raw photos or pro-res videos LOL. I am hearing the iPhone 16 will be more of a change in form factor and other bells and whistles.
That depends on how apple positions their trade in. But if you think that each year base to base upgrade costs only $400, in 2 years you would have 3 new iphones and spent 2200 or you could have rode out 1 to the ground and buy new: thus getting 200 for your 14pm and spending 1100 for new iphone - total money spent is 2000 in this case.Yeah, the Apple fanboy in me wants to upgrade, but my responsible adult side is like "You don't need it with a pristine 14 pro max right in your hand". My situation involves an 11 as well, and it makes the choice harder for me. My personal phone is a 13P, my work is an 11. Sadly, it's locked down and managed strictly, so I can't use many apps. But for day-to-day use, the experience is very similar. The 13P stands out in a few significant ways for me: ProMotion, camera, 5G, and battery. I also prefer the more square edges, making cases fit better and more effectively. My iPhone journey was: iPhone 4, 6, 7 and 11. Despite my 11 is perfectly usable, I think that is the time to make the jump for a Max model, probably the 15 or the 14 if I get a super deal.
So the answer is >85% YES![]()
This seems like a good plan. I never paid attention, but I imagine previous year models tank in value immediately before a new release... My 13P will probably take a huge hit if it hasn't already. Would you be willing to share your perspective @HeyMazza?I plan to upgrade. Already sold my 14 Pro 128 to break even and I’m currently using the iPhone SE (2022) that I use every year before the new one comes out.
I loved the Pro, but I think I might opt for the 15 Plus this year since I am trying to get into the habit of using my main Sony camera.
I own an 11 as well - biggest downside that it is the same size as 14PM; might as well own Pro Max sized phone with the upcoming 15 lineup. It is also noticeably slower with Apple pay: it takes 1-2 second more to do pay versus my old 13 mini/regular 13.My situation involves an 11 as well

If I were you, at this point I would just hold on to the 13P. You can probably get a good value for the phone right now depending on where in the US you live. I still see a few 13P going for 700+ in mint condition around me but I am sure that will drop or not sell in the next upcoming weeks for the same price. What I do hope, based on some reports, is that carriers release BIG savings for trade-in options. I am sure you can get a good value with your carrier to trade the phone in.This seems like a good plan.
