I’m debating on if I’m going to trade in through Apple or Declutter for the extra 10%.
I'd sell through a third party. I either use Swappa or OfferUp. Swappa's cut is a bit high though so I always try and sell local when I can. Apple's trade-in value is absolute garbage these days.

I haven’t used Swappa since selling my 6. I’m trying recoup as much of the cost as possible when trading in or selling.

I never traded in through Apple, but I heard it’s seamless and easier than selling. I just want the option to trade in in a physical Apple Store vs mailing it in.
So order online for local pickup on preorder date with the selected trade in.. They will mail you the box - ignore.
On a pickup day just bring your old phone and mention explicitly “store trade in - please put the refund into my original method of purchase; no apple gift cards or balances please”. Make sure that they ask your physical credit card and run it thru their pos terminal - you are golden.

Always do an in-person trade-in at a physical Apple Store if you decide to do Apple trade-in. Iirc, Apple’s mail trade-in is outsourced to a different company, and there’s been quite a few reports of people getting ripped off. The physical Apple Store trade-in is very easy and fast. I’ve done it multiple times.

You still get their horrible trade-in value, though. Some cities will have locations for in-person transactions for online stuff at local police stations. My town has one and it’s right outside the local precinct with cameras everywhere.

How much would you fetch for 14pm 256gb after the announcement using all other sources outside of apple trade in?
I am debating if i should keep 14 pm of my wife to myself, but even keeping it at $720 doesn’t sound like a deal to me with shot battery(88%).

If I have it delivered to my home instead, can I still do in-store trade in or do I have to mail it in?

If you deliver, unfortunately then you can only mail. That is my small con about it - but what can we do.

I might as well sell it to Declutter. I would be angry if I’m quoted one price for my excellent condition iPhone and then receive an amount lower than that. I guess it’s a pro and con to having a delivery vs in-store pick up. Thank you for your help.

Just read the reviews on decluttr - they are not any better at decreasing the value upon receipt just like Apple’s phobio.
The only people who don’t care about the phone is apple store - they even got mu scratched iphones.

I was just reading through the Support app regarding trade-in and I read this. If I could do this then I would rather trade-in in store.

I dig my purple 14 Pro Max. This is the first and it'll probably be awhile before they release another purple iPhone. I'm good with what I have now unless there is an incredible deal that I can't pass up. It has a really good camera, 120 MHz display, good system speed, plenty of storage space, and I ride bare. No case here because I can grip it without any issue.

I didn’t want to give up my Deep Purple 14PM, but now I can’t wait to get a new phone and device color.

No idea. I'm trying to sell mine right now.

If it is not much further away from Apple's $720 is it worth the extra work?
I mean you might be able to get an extra 100-200 dollars maybe. If $720 is easier and more convenient for you I would just do the trade in. I like to try and get every dime I can back to put toward the new phone as I do this every year.

Do they require you to purchase a phone if you’re doing a trade in?
From Apple site:

What if I’m not ready to buy something?

No problem. We can put the value of your current device on a gift card that you can use anytime. Get an estimate through the trade-in tool and choose the Apple Gift Card option.
