Found this on the internet: helps to justify the purchase a little bit.:)

Going 14PM to 15PM. Titanium frame, USB-C, and camera upgrades are the main draw cards for me. I’ll sell my 14 and after paying out my plan I’ll pocket around $300 (AU), so that’ll be nice.
I’ll look at keeping the 15 for a minimum 2 years, but that’ll depend on what the 16 offers, and how much control I have at the time. I did plan to keep my 13PM, but my Dad’s X had a battery health of 72%, so I upgraded and gave him my 13PM. He appreciated the bigger screen, as well as the battery life improvement. If it wasn’t for that I would have kept the 13, the step up to the 14 hasn’t been that impressive.

This annoys me to all end. I have no desire for a PM but a strong desire for a better camera.

It would be nice if they reduced the weight of the PM, it’s smaller than the S23 Ultra, yet heavier. Hopefully replacing the steel frames will help with this.

Having the USB-C is a huge benefit since I can use my work USB-C charger for my iPad, my work laptop and work Pixel phone. That being said, changing phones just for a charging port seems—over the top extreme. If I understand the rumors right, the bezels on the Pro at least are being minimized more, but again not a reason to upgrade. Now—the cameras? Yeah, I take a lot of pictures from my balcony, and when I was trying out the S22 Ultra and could grab shots of the moon, that was unreal. That being said, how many times is one going to take pictures of the moon before it get’s older than the moon itself 🫤, so while having a 5-6X telescope lens is an awesome feature I’m not sure it also warrants buying a new phone. It is nice to see them move the 48mp main lens down to the 15 non-pro line for those who use the regular phones and want better pictures.

If true I think the best move on the iPhone 15 Pro’s it the starting point of 256GB, but then if they increase the price (which they will) 🤷🏼‍♂️ you basically just paid them for the additional storage of the 14 Pro anyways…

I’m waiting to hear more rumors of the 16 because IIRC I’ve heard it should contain much larger changes than the previous few years?

The USB-C is stronger, (almost) faster and stronger.

Always thought how that would be on any of the maxes.

Thank you ! I’m planning on getting more Apple stuff in the future as well so I can get more of the “full” ecosystem experience 😄

Very curious about iPad and Apple Watch. I tried some Android tablets in the past, but I wasn’t very interested in them. They were nothing more than just a phone with a big screen for the most part, so they didn’t seem that important to me.
iPads on the other hand seem very superior compared to Android tablets. They seem more than just an “iPhone with a big screen”. I’ve seen lots of people using them as a laptop replacement, which got me wondering how powerful they could really be. Well, the iPad Air and Pro models have already been getting the new Apple Silicon chips (which were originally designed for Macs) so they must be indeed very powerful.
I’d also love to try the experience of using the Apple Pencil, especially as an artist myself. I’ve always used my phone to draw (yes, I draw with my fingers haha) but I’m curious about the experience of drawing on a tablet using a digital pen.

So yeah, while not very necessary for me (unlike a phone and a laptop), I’d still love to try an iPad someday. Same thing for the Apple Watch. Aside from it being a nice fitness device, I kinda like the idea of it helping you spend less time on your phone, by using it to check notifications and answer calls. Neither of them are that important to me right now, but they still seem nice to have especially with the very seamless integration of the Apple ecosystem. Definitely looking forward to checking them out someday in the future.
If you are looking to add an iPad and pencil to your gear I would definitely try both the original apple pencil and the second gen, magnetic charging, pencil.

I have an iPad 8th Gen that works with the original pencil. Putting aside how it feels in my hand, I hate the way it charges. I didn't think it would bother me but it really does. Its really the most un-Apple like thing they could have done. It's in line with the magic mouse charging port on the bottom 🥲

When I bought my iPad I wanted it for two reasons. To read my digital books and to draw. I rarely draw on it 😢

I just don't enjoy the experience. I greatly prefer my pencil set and textured paper. It's a feeling that cant be reproduced digitally.

I'll just add that even though both Apple pencils weight the same, they are not the same length so they will feel different in your hand and when drawing. The original pencil feels too long.

I hope you will have a better experience than I do but definitely go to a store and try them on different iPad's before you buy.

Thank you for the advice ! I’ll definitely make sure to try both generations of the Apple Pencil before I can pick my desired one. Seems very reasonable 😄

And yeah, I do agree that nothing beats the feeling of a real pencil on a paper. I tried digital pens on some Android devices before, but I just never got the appeal. I even strangely found myself prefer using my fingers for digital drawing rather than using a digital pen.
I’m not sure if I can get a better drawing experience with the Apple Pencil though, but I’m guessing it would be fun to try !

72% is where my X’s battery is at. Debating going with the 15.

Question: I plan on upgrading from the 12 pro max to the 15 pro max, but I'm planning to go to six flags on September 23 so I'll likely get the phone before that. Is crash detection still being set off by roller coasters, or have the software updates mostly fixed that? I guess I should temporarily turn the feature off to be safe, but I'm curious lol.

Looks like both Pro models are going to be a good deal lighter, and somewhat smaller but also slightly thicker. The standard Pro is rumoured to be 188g & the Max 221g now.

The big thing for me is going to see the carrier deals and see what the starting storage is. If there is a price increase and still a 128GB price increase, I will likely hold off.

Hopefully the carrier trade in deals are decent. I may also just buy a second hand lowest gen phone for the maximum trade in value and just keep my 14PM.

I'm looking forward to the announcement and see what iphone 15 has to offer. My iphone 11 i've had since 2019 has been great, but it's time for a new phone.

I have absolutely hated my 12pro for a while now. Nothing but problems with calling and data connection plus notification issues… Never had a bad iPhone before this one. Will be gladly ordering a 15pro… the Max camera sounds intriguing, but I’m not a fan of the overall size of the bigger phone.

Y’know, based on the current rumours 2 days before the event, the new phone ain’t sounding overly enticing.

The new zoom camera may be the big feature this year. I use a 14 Pro Max with 1TB of storage and shoot an awful lot of photos - love the camera and big screen.

To be honest though, I only use zoom for maybe less than 1% of photos - very few. It’s nice to have but the zoomed pics are never the really nice ones.

A bigger zoom won’t change this fact…I’m not really a ‘zoomer’. So beyond that, are mild speed and battery increases worth it?

I’m very much hoping though that the rumours have missed something. It the actual camera quality improves - more detail/better processing then I’m there. Fingers crossed.

Not sure, depends on pricing, trade-in and discount I can get. I’m intrigued by the possibility of a periscope lens and it will be interesting to see if the Phone finally has a true zoom lens; but that alone in not enough for me to trade in my brand new 14 Pro.

Haven’t traded through Apple before. Do the trade-in values typically change after a new phone is released?

Apple's trade-in credit will change this week once the iPhone 15 is announced. The iPhone 14 pro max models will get the most trade-in credit followed by the standard pro, 14 plus, and base 14. Older phones like the 13, 12, and 11 might get less than what they are offering now in terms of trade-in credit.
