No. My XR (bought in 2019) still works perfectly fine and performs all task I need it to. So for me personally no need for upgrade. When this XR becomes laggy or sw support ends or battery goes bad I will upgrade. I guess Apple would be much poorer company if everyone was like me :)

I must say that I really don’t like rounded edges. So my next iPhone will probably be iPhone 12/13/14 form factor.

I usually upgrade every 5-6 years. I upgraded from 7 plus to 13 PM. One of the biggest reasons for upgrade was 5G. I am already getting blazing speed on my 13 PM, and pretty good camera. I will probably upgrade to iPhone 18/19 or some major change in technology(like 5G) comes along.

Nope. I will keep my iPhone 13.. i only change my device when it gets slow, and the battery drains easily. My last backup phone is iPhone 6s which uses different sim but iOS 14 slowed it down, and 15 make the battery worse.

Currently have a 12 mini…
I don’t really want to get rid of the small form factor, but the battery life on this phone is absolutely atrocious.
I’ve already had it replaced once, it was better for about four months, but now it’s atrocious again.
Also, I got this phone and AppleCare through a carrier, and then I left that carrier, so I no longer have any form of AppleCare.
I would just opt for the 13 mini, but from what I can gather the battery improvements are nothing to write home about, and after a year of usage it will go back down to being just as awful as my current 12 mini.
Maybe give the 13 mini a chance, I found a substantial improvement in battery life over the 12 mini. My 13 mini is also still at 100% battery health after about a year; of course this may depend on how you use your phone.

Yes, I plan to go from 14 PM to 15 PM. Mostly for USB-C but I'm also hoping that it will weigh less. My other phone is a Pixel 6 Pro and I much prefer the weight on that phone, feels much lighter to me.

I went 12 pro max to a spare SE we had when the 12 pro max died and I’ve enjoyed it to be honest. I’m trying to really be more sensible with money with the current state of the world so I’m trying to resist although i might be very tempted if it went to USB C.. mainly just cos of the convenience while all my other devices are that now.. id only do it thought if the entry model 15 had usb c..

I know it’s early to ask this question, but I am interested to see what everyone is planning on so far. Some people upgrade every year, some people might be holding on to a much older iPhone but are holding out to finally upgrade this generation, or maybe there’s a specific feature some people have been waiting on.

Rumored features (some may be Pro-only):
  • USB-C
  • Action button replacing mute switch
  • Periscope camera lens (5-6x zoom)
  • A17 - First 3nm Apple chip
  • 8GB RAM
  • WiFi 6E
  • Qualcomm X70
  • Titanium frame with more rounded edges
  • Slightly smaller body with same screen size
  • Smallest bezels of any phone
  • Red color
  • Higher price
On the other end, iPhone upgrades have never been so incremental, and it’s financially and environmentally smarter to hold on to your perfectly functioning iPhone now.

So, as of right now, are you planning on upgrading to the iPhone 15 series? Why or why not?

I’m on an XS Max and happy with it so I’m hoping to hold out a bit longer and maybe get a 15 second hand when the 16 comes out and my device (presumably) no longer supports the latest iOS.

If iOS 17 improves performance on older devices, I could be tempted to wait a bit longer.

I'm on a 13 and I'm on an every other model schedule for a decade or so. For me upgrading is less about new features and primarily about how long it takes before battery degradation makes the old one unusable . . . and that is just starting to set in now and by October will be dire.

I will upgrade under two conditions: USB type C and a Periscope lens for dramatic increase in zooming clarity. If it’s just 1 of 2 or zero of 2 then no. iPhone 13 Pro Max is a beast.

Probably not. Bought two 13 Pro Max last August so it would be too soon for me to upgrade.

I was using two XS Max up until August.

Currently on an iphone 12 and am strongly considering it to finally have usb c parity among all devices. Crazy I can charge my ipad and macbooks with usb but not my phone. I think dynamic island is a gimmick and certainly don’t need all the features but would really like the performance and more than 64gb of storage.

I’m going to Upgrade to a Pro15 from my trusty iPhone 7. The 7s battery is weak and there’s an issue with the phone thinking it needs charging when it doesn’t need it except that it goes blank. I’d get a iPhone 14 except that I like the idea of the USB-C port like on my new-ish MacBook Pro and new iPad.

Nope.
New the iPhone 13 mini is barely cheaper than it was last year, and I’m not going to spend half a grand for “slightly” better battery life.
And keep in mind I’m using “slightly” in context here, the difference between the 12 mini and 13 mini battery is going to be extraordinarily minor compared to the difference between a 12 mini and a 15 pro max.
And while I absolutely love the miniform factor, I think it’s clear that it’s not here to stay and long term it’s best to move on.
This won’t be my first rodeo, I went from the iPhone 5 to a 6+, then years later the 6.1 designs, 10 minutes and I’ll be used to it.

Have an X I've been using since 2017 and I'm sure the 15 ProMax would be a noticeable and substantial upgrade so I'm pretty sure I'll be upgrading around November/December and move the X to my backup device.

It will all depend on the camera for me! I seriously hope Apple uses larger higher resolution sensors in the telephoto cameras. 12 megapixels is getting old and limits my photography.

Everything else (apps, screen resolution, etc), will basically look the same. The newer iPhones (pro models) will be mostly be designed for photographers and vidiographers. If you are one who hardly takes a photo or video, then the plus (non pro) models will probably be best for the average user.

I might upgrade. Depends if my iPhone 8 will support iOS 17 and how bad the PWM on the iPhone 15 line.

From what I’ve read it seems a compelling piece of kit but I’m more than happy with my 13 mini right now. If I’m going to upgrade anything in the near future it’ll be my MacBook Pro

I think I may wait until the 16 series. I am not too happy with Apple holding back so much on the regular iPhone. You need a Pro just to get features that have been on cheap Android phones for years like Pro Motion, latest available chipset, etc.

However I do like the switch to USB c. All my other Apple devices use USB C so it would be a lot easier than looking for the lightning cable.

But it really depends also on price. I don't think there is any reason for Apple to raise prices across the line since iPhone is not cheap to start with.

Maybe I will get the new SE when it comes out?

you can all ways get a iPhone SE 3rd gen if the iPhone 15 turns out some in that's not too your likeing

No mini, no deal

Also get rid of long-touches and bring back force touch
you still have the iPhone SE 3rd gen wish is even smaller then the iPhone mini and to tell you the truth the iPhone mini is not coming back
