I'm thinking if the 15 Pro Max doesn't impress with the Periscope lens and camera upgrades I might go for the 15 Plus (from my current 14 Pro Max) depending on what upgrades they give it.

I considered the 15+ but “they” say it’ll have 60mhz refresh and the A16 chip which is prone to overheating…would either of those things make you reconsider? If so, would you go 15 Pro or Pro Max…or skip

If that's true then it probably won't be worth me getting the 15 Plus, I already have the A16 in my 14 Pro Max with 120hz screen. If that's the case I will probably get the 15 Pro Max, this year will be the first time that Apple are adding a feature to the Pro Max ONLY (the Periscope lens that goes to 6x optical).

On the other end, iPhone upgrades have never been so incremental, and it’s financially and environmentally smarter to hold on to your perfectly functioning iPhone now.
If I trade in my iPhone at least every 2 years, AT&T and Verizon give you a new iPhone for free. This is financially smarter than keeping my iPhone for 3-5 years and then it not having much value. If I want to upgrade at that point, I need to spend $1,000+ on a new phone.

I'm spending almost $0 on a new iPhone every 2 years. Yes, I buy a new case and need to pay tax. And I'm happy with my current cell phone provider, so I don't feel locked in to the only caveat - you need to stay with them for 2 years.

I thought I was going to upgrade from my 14PM, for USB-C. But I'm paying AT&T a net $5/mo for the phone, as part of their trade in program. So I owe $800 on it, and would need to pay it off before trading it in for the 15PM. Trying to decide if USB-C is worth $800, or just wait till next year. I may be swayed when they cover the features here in a minute.

The iPhone 15 looks nicer than I expected, to be honest, despite having the same A16 Bionic.

The new edges and the new design is nicer, and the dual camera island is smaller, right?

Weird, the 15 Pro Max wasn't so much a price increase as it was just dropping the 128gb model. Anyway it doesn't bother me too much because I was going to get the 512gb one anyway, it's the same cost as last the 512gb model the last few years.

I got $720 last year, trading in a 13 Pro Max to a 14 Pro Max. So, the 15PM is now $100 more expensive for the base model and you get $70 less trade in. Not nice.

The 15 pro is really intriguing, I am in love with the natural titanium color, and the camera looks great.

I do not NEED to upgrade from my 14pro, so I will contact Verizon to see what is coming out of pocket to get this done

I see Apple only offers up to $650 trade-in for a 14 pro max 512GB. Lol.
That sucks, because my base 14pro 128gb gets the same $650... which is fair
Edit: could have sworn it said $650, it is actually $570 which is mehhh... I will go through carrier most likely anyway

As an iPhone 14 Pro Max owner I don't see the iPhone 15 Pro Max as a revolutionary step forward. I feel generally underwhelmed by the announcement.

I am in the upgrade program so it won't cost me anything to upgrade to the 15. However, I may just hold on to the 14, pay out the upgrade loan, and start again next year with the iPhone 16, which is already rumored to be the bigger upgrade.

Was unfortunately forced to go from 12 pro to 14 pro. Would not have done on free will. However camera improvements are already insane.
Would have waited for 16 pro to get new Lens in non Max.

@contacos that was my impression from trying in store, out in the wild is something complete different

I will upgrade from a 13 Mini because of the following reasons:

-Been waiting on a 5x telephoto lens on iPhones for years!
-Neural engine performance at 4x is brilliant and will be increasingly used and more apps will take advantage of on-device AI.
-USB-C. Nuff said
-Supports external storage for recording video.

Can’t refuse £335 trade in for Mini 13. If it was £100 lower I wouldn’t be tempted.

I have the 12 Pro Max and was planning on upgrading last year, but broke my phone (around that time) and got a new exact replacement for it and decided to keep it. Now it's time to upgrade.

It looks like I will upgrade after all to the 15 Pro Max.

In Switzerland the Pro Max with 512Gb price went down quite a bit from 14 to 15. It was ridiculous with the 14, more expensive than an upgraded 15" Macbook Air M2 and well over Samsung S23 Ultra, Xperia 1 V, Fold 5.

Really glad they read the market signals.

Been busy today, havent followed the keynote but

is the difference essentially-

better cameras
titanium side but not much lighter
same battery life (sigh)
usb-c port
a17

for 15 pro max? I see $1199 and starts at 256gb as well

The colors arent great imo, I dunno may just hold onto my 14PM

On Apple’s trade in program it said I could get £465 for my current phone which isn’t that bad I suppose.

I have been fully on the iPhone 15 Pro Max hype train the last couple months, but I'm pretty disappointed after seeing the keynote. I'm also not usually the person who lets myself get disappointed after Apple keynotes.

Comparing the 15PM and 14PM specs on the Apple website is kind of mind-blowing to me at how few differences there are. I think I'm most disappointed by battery life and the 3nm chip. I wasn't expecting the huge battery increases that some were, but I was expecting at least an hour longer. I don't understand how 3nm is supposed to be this revolutionary change and even got delayed from debuting in the Pro iPhones last year, yet there's only a 10% increase in performance and no battery life gains??? The only thing that makes sense to me is that Apple reduced the physical battery sizes. But even then, I don't understand how they tested the exact same battery life two years in a row. You'd think there would be some variance in battery testing.

I'm disappointed by the colors. I wanted gold. Gray looks too warm to be a futuristic gray that I wanted. Blue looks nicer than expected but I'm afraid it would just look like Pacific Blue in person. As always, you can't really tell how dark the Black is just from Apple's marketing photos.

Also, there were basically no surprises that the leaks didn't reveal which feels pretty unusual. Even for the 11 Pro - 14 Pro years, Apple has always created some sort of secret camera feature (ProRes video, Deep Fusion, ProRAW, Photonic Engine, Cinematic Mode, Action Mode, Photographic Styles, etc.), but there was nothing here that wasn't leaked before.

Then, on top of all this, Apple only offers $650 trade-in on the 14PM. Apple offered $720 for the 13PM at the 14 launch, and $790 for the 12PM at the 13 launch - a $140 difference! I sold my phone last year, but was considering doing trade-in this year for the convenience, but now I really can't justify it.

Idk, I'm just really disappointed. I'm considering just keeping my 14PM which pains me to say because I really haven't liked this phone much. It's been a bad upgrade year for me. I know some people have had great experiences with their 14PM, but I had a bad pre-order experience, a bad eSIM experience, lots of bugs, and poor battery life from the start, so I was hoping the 15 Pro would be a big improvement and fresh start for me.

I'm thinking about just pre-ordering the 15PM and trying it for 2 weeks to see how I actually like it and if it's any better for me in real life because maybe I just got a defective 14PM, but idk. I did a cost analysis to see how much it cost me to upgrade year-over-year last year, and it was around $500. Idk if I can justify a $500 upgrade for no battery life improvements, only 10% performance improvements, and boring colors.
