Are you upgrading to the 11/11Pro/Max?

Actually I really like the design of XS and Max but for some reason I need to wait September to buy new one. And at that time I don't know why but buying the older one makes me feel uncomfortable so that, probably I will jump on the train of XI's simply because I want to upgrade my 7+. The battery is not that good and want to go for the FaceID and the wide angle camera. But

I’m the same way before I Purchase an iPhone, when the next Gen iPhone is this ready to launch in September. The reason I like to wait, is it simply because of ‘buyers remorse’, sometimes having the newest device might have certain features you really would like, and having an older device doesn’t make it a ‘bad choice’, it just takes away from something that maybe should’ve waited for. (I.e camera upgrades, increased battery life, ect).

That's what I feel exactly! I have to wait until September but if I wait I want to see the newest ones. That feeling to push you to buy the new ones always gets me :D

I am, because playing the quality control lottery is exhausting.

2020 will be a phone actually worth waiting for with a redesign (flat sides again finally?) and a Qualcomm modem.

Based on rumors I’m leaning towards skipping and get the really cool one supposedly dropping in 2020. But I’m of course unsure if my 6S will last another year. No cheap battery replacement service offered by Apple next time.

My XR does all I need, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. I anticipate that 2021 will be my next upgrade and that’s only to hand off my XR to my wife. She couldn’t care less about technology and is still on the 6s.

2019 is an easy year to skip. Just look at that camera design :/! 2020 though... Notchless design will be harder to pass on.

Even though I won't be buying this year. I'm still excited to see what's released.

Would've never thought iPhone releases would become a spectator sport.

I’m not upgrading this year neither and I’m also eagerly awaiting this year’s keynote. Next year I’ll be waking up early to preorder with those who will be upgrading.

Are you skipping 2019?

How does one go about skipping an entire year exactly?

Rip VanWinkle gave it a shot. :D

But at $1200 per, I can see skipping this year's iPhone. Doesn't appear to be anything earth-shattering, and maybe the 2020 model will have a new design, since it's rumored to have 5G modems and since Jony Ive has left Apple. There's always hope.

i will ask my wife if she can give me her phone, an iPhone 8, and then well get her a new 2019 model whatever it is.
then i will get a new phone in 2020.

i really want a 5.4 size display, really pocketable top tier model.
with USB-C if possible.
and a qualcomm 5G modem, not an intel branded 5G modem.
really want LCD, not the OLED display pulsing lights.
really want it to retain Touch ID and not make Face ID compulsory.
also need global NFC (with A.B, F) and Expresscard with reserve battery function.

the mid-term rumored small size model apparently targeted for spring 2020 is going to be tempting to get.

You do realize Apple had that settlement with Qualcomm before that trial they were supposed to have this year right.. so they are going to be using Qualcomm’s 5G modem as part of the deal in the 2020 phones because intel couldn’t keep up in making a 5G modem in time

great. thanks.
as i said: i much prefer a qualcomm set vs. an intel one.

I'm skipping 2019 and 2020, because I predict that the 2023 iPhones will be so much better and more advanced!
You’ll be sorry for getting the 2023 model instead of skipping that for the 2024 one. It’s going to be even better. But I heard the 2025 one will trump those two.

No.

I'm currently using an iPhone 6 with 16Gb I got from my dad years ago (handed down). The last iPhone I actually bought myself was the 2G in 2007! Since then I got the 4, 4S, 5, 5S and 6 handed down when my parents were upgrading to new models until they stopped upgrading.

My 6 is getting slow and I would like a better camera for travel. The biggest problem is that 16Gb isn't enough anymore.

In short: I'm ready for the 2019 iPhone! :)

Pretty sure I’m going to wait... about 95% sure.

Unless something really moves me during the keynote, but I doubt it.

2020 rumors are much more compelling - Qualcomm returns, notchless, 5G, and of course, most likely better battery life and an even better camera.

This year, I’m much more interested in the software upgrades: iOS 13 (playing with beta now), iPadOS, and WatchOS 6

Honestly, $60 a month sounds like way too much for the Max. I know these loans are interest free, but that would be difficult for me to want to pay something monthly like that if I wasn’t enjoying the phone. To me, I’d say the Max is more of a overly-glorified iPhone Plus, just with added aesthetic’s with the glass back/stainless steel bands. The only direct advantage is having the larger display, but the battery life is equally impressive. But I would like to see more in terms of what this phone has potential to offer in the future.
Yes it's getting a bit high when the installments are equal to or more than the plan costs for one person. Think we are going to try to not upgrade for a bit to save some money.

I'm undecided... depends if Apple blow us away with the WWDC this year shall wait and see. Money is more of an issue for me this year though xD

based on the rumor mill so far, 2019 is looking like it'll be a dud. Updated Camera, new A chip... Yawn.

If the 2019s shipped with Qualcomm modems, I'd get one just for that. But that's not rumored to be happening until 2020.

It depends. I'm still rocking an iPhone 6, but given that it's finally EOL with the advent of iOS 13 (or very close to it - within a year), I've been giving serious thought to upgrading for the last month and a half (to an XR or the '19 equivalent, depending on pricing. Getting close to jumping carriers is what has spurred me on)

I wanted to wait until 2020 when Touch ID possibly comes back, but if Apple's going to start dicking around with cables/connections again, I'd rather do it this year just for the sake of not having to throw down the extra money on those.

To me, battery life is relative - I know the XR is bigger, with a better screen and other internals, but my 6 has performed like a champ (I'm one of the few who haven't bothered to take advantage of the battery replacement program). Every year brings the promise of more battery life, so I figure moving up from a 6, I can't loose either way with current or future models.

I've read plenty of articles too that extol the promise of 5G, but if most carriers stay true to form and relegate it to expensive plans only and/or charge an extra fee for it, 4G should suffice (for those few times during the day I'm *not* on WiFi)

I'm not sure what to do. If apple apple really does eliminate LCD, people like me who are bothered by their pwm calibration are pretty much out of luck.

Really hoping they release a relatively inexpensive entry level iPhone similar to what they've done with the iPad. I'd be quite content with LCD + TouchID + updated chipset/RAM.
