This was definitely my weirdest pre-order year. I must have mistakenly gotten Next 30 instead of 24 last year when I got the X on my line, and didn't realize that you have to pay of 80% instead of 50% on the faster plan

So, I didn't really want to spend almost $600 to pay to upgrade while my wife's line on the Next 24 plan only owed like $143 to upgrade. So my solution was to borrow another line's upgrade eligibility (my brother is still rocking a 6s Plus) and got that order in within like 5 minutes of preorders going live. But due to some travel and like half as much sleep as normal in the days proceeding pre-order, the BOGO add a line seemed like a good deal to my sleepy brain, even though I have no need for another line (already have 4 people + 2 iPads on our account) but I would have kept it anyway if you could have switched to a 256GB with that offer instead of the 64GB. Ended up cancelling that order the next day, but the replacement order still says 9/21 delivery so fingers crossed.

My wife's order on the other hand was a whole different deal. Needed to pay off the $143 to upgrade early and the saved card had the wrong zip code on it (even though I pay my wireless bill with that saved card every month and it goes through no problem). No big deal, one would think, right? WRONG! The ATT site refused to edit the card or change cards when I added a different one. And not just on one browser/device. In total, I tried three devices and 4 different browsers to try and get it to work and waited on chat support for over an hour trying to get to billing people to help. Finally gave up at 1:30AM Pacific because I desperately needed sleep. Took my wife trying one thing through the normal billing site to give me an idea thirty minutes later (and maybe a bit more awake) that maybe I just needed to edit the card through the normal bill pay portion of the site for it to work and it did. Really frustrating when their website doesn't work but so far all seems well as they should both be delivered Friday. Still not going to believe that until I have the phones in hand but...

Last but not least, anyone have any experience with activating a phone to a different line than what it was ordered on? My brother lives across the country so I would hate to get the phone, activate it and then find out I had cut out his service. I know I'll need to do a SIM card swap, but is a call to ATT before turning on phone my best bet?

I think this is too soon. Launch day is Friday. I wouldn't expect to see prepared for shipping until Wednesday

Ya once they get to the holding whatehouses in TX, etc. they generally don’t move out to the final destinations till Thursday. Wednesday at the earliest.

Last year AT&T orders started going to preparing for shipment Sunday after pre-order day.

that suk ... apple half way already >>

It makes no difference if they’ve shipped already or they ship Thursday morning. The 21st is release day and it HIGHLY unlikely no one gets it before then. Apple states this to carriers. There was one year it happened (iPhone 4). I got mine a day early. Shipping was a debacle that year but demand was insane. FedEx and ups overnight all the devices.

I ordered around 12:35am PST (max 256 gray) and the order went through, but I haven't received an email nor has my CC been charged.

Delivery estimated for the 21st, but no email is kind of unsettling :-\

Anyone else in the same boat?

The email confirming the order with the pricing and phone models ect. The first email just says thank you for your order.

I am just nervous as ATT already had a error with my first order and they had to cancel it and re order. I don’t want it to happen again.

The second email is basically a mirror of what you see if you go to the “check order status” page on the ATT site.

I think i not putting worry much on it - let it delivery leave whatever there - or pickup delay later >>> just a phone :D

Down south
So does anyone know what the projected ship dates are when upgrading with AT&T right now? How far out for the Max at this point? What about the XS?

Middle TN
Last year I got the shipping notification on 11/2 and was delivered 11/3 around Noon. Mine comes from Memphis because I am located in Middle TN. I'm pretty sure I got a notification from my FedEx account before I got the email from ATT but I'm not certain on that. However, last year was an entirely different process than this year due to either a higher supply of phones or lower demand. I dont recall an iPhone launch that you were able to preorder 30 hours after preorder went live and still get launch day delivery in shipping estimate.
