Carrier AT&T 2018 iPhone Pre-Order Thread

As a FedEx delivery person I can say that ATT does not require a signature on iphones for whatever reason. Verizon does though. Verizon always slowing my day down haha.

So, like the bulk of everyone here, I ordered just before 3 AM EST. 256 Gold Xs Max.

Fast forward to today, it's still Preparing to Ship, but I noticed some extra money in my checking account (I paid the taxes upfront) and I'm pretty sure it's the taxes. That said, I'm expecting that these phones will be shipping at any moment now as I've seen instances like this where the money will be put back into my account (with other orders I've done outside of ATT) and then finally taken out permanently once the item ships.

This is what I have experienced as well... the taxes get "charged" when the device ships.

Just for reference I went back through my email to find last years shipping notice for my iPhone X and I received the email from ATT that it shipped at 2:02 AM on Thursday 11/1. It was delivered 11/2 around noon.

Yesterday it was Preparing to ship.
Sounds like the system is screwy.

I think you might need to scroll up some on the screen. They always say "We are working on your order." The actual status is above that. I've noticed my screen is auto-scrolling to mid-page as well for some reason.

Yeah same, the tracking on Apple.com is so crazy people even use flight trackers to see when the plane carrying their device departs and lands, while we’re here happy to just see preparing to ship

Well, considering the shipping is different it isn't fair to compare the two. Apple ships to the individual from china. For att, they order a mass amount of phones into their warehouse, then ship them out from there.

Yea that happens for me every year. The initial charge is a temporary hold to make sure money is there before processing the order. The hold typically is removed and then the actual charge that is permanent happens when the device ships. My temp hold fell off yesterday as well.

Something similar to me. I was charged initially the tax amount on my credit card;however, when I checked yesterday the charge has been removed.

True, but it just doesn’t look good when two people order a device, and the person who orders days later is getting updated before someone who ordered minutes into launch who probably won’t get updates until Thursday.

Depends how you order it. I did it though live chat and gave them my cc to pay taxes up front. They can also add it to the bill.

darn it. mine still says In progress. but also delivered by 21st. so I don't know whats going on there.

Just got the "Hello, review your AT&T order" email. Typically, I ignore these emails, but when I opened it, it gave me a break down of my upcoming monthly bill. There was a $11.99 for "Mobile Protection Package" that will start December 2018. I am getting AppleCare, so there was no need for this. I tried to cancel online but it gave me an error. Had to use the Chat feature to remove it. It's just a little shady that I never signed up for it and I wouldn't even notice it since I also have paperless and autopay...I think when I upgraded my phone at an ATT store, the salesperson must have added. Just shady.

Mine did that for a bit, but everything’s been fine the last couple of days. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I think you're right. Tonight we will see labels created and scans to UPS or FedEx with delivery times

What I’ve been reading from last year’s preorders, people didn’t get their tracking number until about Thur for Friday delivery.
