Last year I dropped my iPhone facedown on concrete like a month before the new phones came out. Shattered despite the case, but I feel like that was my sign that caseless is a bad idea. Also, got an insurance screen replacement that same day...but the awful insurance approved repair shop actually broke the phone further (went to them with a shattered but working screen, left with a completely dead but not shattered screen) and had to wait from Saturday to Tuesday to get the replacement.

Good luck. ATT used to be better in my experience, but I feel like only having the call center open until 7 Pacific is a little ridiculous. There are so many things that can only be done by phone support-not even chat support can help, but they are closed super early.
Yep. Why close early. When you are selling the most phones now then at anytime of the year. You would think they would get it right.

Yeah, that was after not being able to order night of on my wife's line due to the fact that their credit card it had saved to pay off the early Next upgrade had the wrong zip, and refused to update no matter what I tried. You would think the call center would at least be open their busiest pre-order night of the year.

Wonder if any UPS or Fedex trucks have been robbed on release days? They’ve all gotta be stacked with iPhones.

So what’s wrong with that?
I think part of the issue is people are spending over $1000 for a new phone. They are excited to get their new expensive toy. Most other times when ordering expensive items they get real time order status and updates.

I don't think it is expecting too much from billion dollar telecommunication companies to get relevant communication and status updates. I think we should all expect that as good customer service.

There have been reports of drivers being robbed, however Apple quickly blacklists them and they turn into a very expensive paper weight. Downside these fools sell the phones quickly on Craigslist etc and the innocent buyers are now stuck with it.

I typically just do it the day before and mostly inside- but wouldn't risk it any longer than that....

I called one of the nearby AT&T retail stores to ask if they would have day one stock, since I neglected to preorder. They told me they won't know what they're getting until it arrives, but they will have a non-zero amount.

He also told me it's not possible to order online for in store pick up? Anyway, think I'll drop by around open on Friday to see if they have any!
I saw on reddit about 20 XS Max phones and 2 boxes of XS.

The trailer loads of iPhones that are picked up from the AT&T wharehouse are escorted by armed off duty police officers. Apple pays for the extra security. I have picked up several loads of prelaunch iPhones over the years and this year is no different. I saw the first two trailer loads of new iPhones arrive from AT&T today. They will start sorting them tonight.

That's because they have the same info you have right now. The information doesn't change for you or AT&T until a shipping label is created by UPS/FedEx, it's not on AT&T right now. Like you they are in a holding pattern. The information they have from UPS/FedEx is that your package will be delivered by the date they say. They can't update you until UPS does. People really need to stop freaking out until the date passes and their phone hasn't arrived. NO one in this thread has received tracking info, unless they did the reference hack, that means everyone is fine at the moment. You will more than likely get your info tonight or tomorrow.

Am I alone in that usually the day before delivery day I take out my old phone out of the case and enjoy it in its caseless glory before getting the new iphone? :) Iphone X really is such a nice piece of hardware.

Lol I was telling another group that I have been rockin my iPhone X naked for the past few weeks because I knew it was getting replaced soon lol

I agree with what you're saying...to a point. But other carriers like T-Mobile seem to provide more information and updated tracking. It is not hard to update the AT&T software system to give a more clearer message when checking order status.

Well I just saw someone unloading a UPS truck with a ton of police officers standing by. I wonder if it’s the new iPhones .

I don’t think any of them have landed in the US yet?

They will have to cancel the order and wait for everything to reset, It could be instant but it could take a few hours, and depending on the store they will charge you a restocking fee.

They will charge a restocking fee even if I don’t open the phone?
