When you go into an att store they tell you to call a 1-866 number. Because this is a online or over the phone order. Tells me a lot about who I’m dealing with. I’m glad everyone is getting their devices. Enjoy. But beware of being screwed by att preorder nightmare.

Avoid!!!! Apple from now on for me. I’ll wait until the store opens next time.

Preorder 9/14 1:54 am

reorder 9/14 7:00 pm

9/21 delivery

NO iPhone No tracking number no email no answers no help.

Try calling the 800-331-0500 Customer Care Number. Was in the same boat as you. Ask them if there are any notes on the order/account, especially from fraud department. That ended up being my issue and it was canceled in the note. I ended up using the AT&T web chat to have them cancel the order and had a manager override the upgrade status. Went to the Best Buy app and ordered one for in store pickup and got it like two hours later. Was told by AT&T that it was caused by a glitch in the computer system. Good luck!!

The upgrade was made under the same line, I turned off the X, removed the SIM card, shaped it with the one that came in my Xs Max, powered on, and it takes me to verify information to complete the activation, I have no problem providing the info, I'm just trying to prevent the $30 activation fee for ATT for doing nothing.
Yeah I hear you. You can always try to call in if they charge you the activation fee and ask for it to be waived.

best buy have AT&T bogo deal if you do a new line. walked into to the brick and mortar store and walked out with a Max and an x. they had plenty in stock. So, no need for pre-ordering via the mail. rep said deal ends tomorrow.

So my AT&T order has been telling me delivery by 4:30 pm then they dropped a time but still showed 9/21. It never arrived. Now when I track it, it says pending and says it can’t give a delivery date.

What the hell? Would you just go in store and get one then cancel that order? How much of a royal PITA would that be?

Att cust svc lied to me and told me my cancelled order would arrive on 21st. I had a conflict woth best buy after a conflict with an att order lol never again.

Can somebody tell me what’s the difference between the unlimited more plan vs unlimited more premium plan i see one says unlimited 4g lte and the other one says unlimited high speed data is there really a noticable difference for the extra $25 a month?

You received a box with no phone?

Yes. I thought my wife was playing a joke on me, at first...

First time I ever had an issue with AT&T.

Xs arrived by FedEx at 11:10 ET. The last iPhone I received from AT&T just required me to turn ir on since it already had the SIM in the phone. When I did this I was able to sign into my Apple account and start down loading everything but it never activated AT&T.

After an hour I called AT&T and the rep said no, you have to call in to activate. She said no problem verified the account and said power off and back on and you should be good within about 15 minutes.

I got busy plying with the phone, organizing all my apps and data but after about two hours I still didn’t have a signal so I called again. This time I got a rep that obviously didn’t know what he was doing. Spent 40 minutes on the phone with him he asked for the SIM number and evidently entered it wrong because he came back on the line after about the fourth time of being put on hold and said the first rep must have put the SIM number in wrong because now it won’t activate in the system. I told him the first rep never asked for the SIM number. Anyway to make a long story short he said I needed to go into the AT&T Coperate store to get a new SIM. I told him that was unacceptable because the nearest one is 60 miles away. He said he would overnight a SIM card to me which I still haven’t seen a tracking number on yet let alone the SIM.

I hung up and called again and the first rep I spoke with said she would connect me with their specialist. That lady was able to get everything up and working in just a few minutes. It sounded like they tried to activate the SIM on the second IMEI of the phone or something like that. Anyway all is good now but what a wasted afternoon!

Weird. I simply logged into their activation website on my old phone while my new one was loading everything and chose to activate both phones I bought for my wife and I. Worked like a charm. There was a slip in the box with the website.

So I just went on the ATT site to see if they had any phones in stock at local stores. Found out that since we are member of ATT Thanks program, we are eligible for free same day delivery. An ATT rep will be delivering phone (XS Max Gold 64gb) today between 12-2. Pretty impressive.

Wow. I’ve been with AT&T since 2007. In all those years, I’ve found that customer service reps are highly inconsistent with their knowledge base.

Went back to the att store tried to cancel and they told me it’s a system with my preorder iPhone. He had to call tech support to get them to cancel. It will take three days for my order to be cancelled and my upgrade available.

Man F**k att.

I'm in the exact same boat, spent 3 hours dealing with AT&T and they said the exact same thing. Switching to Tmobile as we speak, after 11 years with AT&T!

Switching after 11 years because of one issue with a single device? Judging by the forums people are able to walk in to the store and get most models and colors of the phone they want. It’s not like it will be weeks.

Received my iPhone on Friday (Launch Day) via FedEx at around 12:20pmEST. I was already driving home from work so it would be there when I got home. which I thought ws great because FedEx originally said it would be delivered by 8pm and with my luck that is usually the case. Setting up the phone was a breeze and the activation was like others had mentioned. After a couple of hours I called and it was done in about 30 minutes. With the issues I had with the ordering of the phone and talking to AT&T a few times over the past week I was ...

A: Surprised that I actually got the phone on launch day
B: Convinced that the call centers are NOT in the USA since every person I talked to in the last few days you could tell English was not their first language.
C: Every female that works in the call centers is named Maria. (I was convinced that 1 out of the 4 I talked with could be a Maria since she had a Latina accent. The Russian, Asian, and Indian accents not so much)
D: Most of the reps do not know what they are doing.

In the end though, I did get the phone on launch day and it is now working fine. Next go around though, I think I will buy directly from Apple.
